I am so happy you are doing the guide it will really give you a broader perspective on thier discography. I recommend Outro Tear live with Eng Sub after you will hear a snipet of it in the guide and you will want to react anyway I guarantee. The song was written when they were thinking of disbanding at one point.

Cant wait to see the reaction to this, also hope you watch spring day and spring day explained videos, there is alot of content in their music videos that people dont know or dont notice. Spring day is a beautiful yet very tragic story in the theory, the italian version of the theory video is extremely gut wrenching and heartbreaking to watch.

bts discography is so diverse sounding, I really think there's something for everyone unless they are hell-bent on not liking them just cause of the "kpop" prejudice or whatever. But there are actually a lot of gems in kpop. 2 great songs to come out of kpop this year is BTBT by B.I. ft. Devita (his dance practice vid for it is very impressive) and Lemon by Loco and Hwasa. Don't by Loco and Hwasa is great too, older song.

Watching Mic Drop Live with their dance break during MAMA / MMA awards is even more incredible! The original version is bada** already. Not much added in Aoki's remix except for some EDM colour and RM added more English lyrics. BTS original versions of their songs will always be top tier quality because they are perfectionists and do not settle for anything less. 😉
US or UK boybands can never ever compare with our Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy scouts). These US boybands had songs written for them, their songs do not talk about sociocultural and political issues. Their songs do not inspire younger generations to dream and never give up. Their songs do not pull people from the depths of depression and save them. They do not sing / rap in multiple languages. They do not do high energy and intricate choreography spanning hiphop, funk, contemporary modern dance all in unison whilst singing and rapping live. They do not spend time talking to their fans immediately after a concert or performance on a TV show or awards show just to check on their Army fans. The list goes on and on and on....
If any comparison exists, I will say they are the total entertainers package like the late great Michael Jackson. His nephew and son have already praised BTS and said MJ would have loved them. Janet Jackson has met them in Hongkong during the MAMA awards in 2018. BTS introduced her as Janet was a recipient of one of the most prestigious global icon awards.
Good luck with your BTS discovery!

This song was dedicated to his haters. The MV of his song Save Me was made in one shoot. The cameraman and them practiced to get to film on different sides (it's in a field but it's like it's the sides of the room in this MV) as the guys go in and out of the shot, so they ran after him. On the Bangtan TV channel there are the shooting or behind the scenes of the recording of their videos and there is also dance practice to see the complete choreographies.
True, BTS has nothing to do with the boy bands that they mentioned, well only because it is made up of boys. BTS is a group that has 7 complete artists, they all know about music, composition, lyrics and production; most play at least 2 instruments; they all dance very well, although the dance leader stands out, who is one of the rappers, who before joining the company was an experienced street dancer and one of the vocalists who is specialized in contemporary dance.
Two of the rappers started around the age of 13 in the underground and the third was a street dancer but when he joined the company he learned to rap with the support of the other 2. The 7 members have voices with different registers and tonality, and they have also created a personal style, but they fit perfectly together.

A little background, it may seem like normal shit talking, but BTS went through so much hardships in their career. They were not treated well by their peers and the industry because they came from a tiny label. They were also disrespected multiple times. And they just endured all that to survive.
Needless to say, those same people are trying hard to get in their good books because of where they are now.

As a fellow Bulgarian (and music lover), our folklore music/singers/female choirs and BTS are both on the top of my everyday playlist. The first ones not only because they are our heritage and birthright, but because they channel a very strong and pure cosmic vibration. And BTS, who can't dream of singing like one Valya Balkanska or Petya Paneva, if they even know who these singers are, are also on the top for me because they themselves and all the aspects of their work and artistry carry that pure, strong cosmic vibration of love.

Coming up & even now BTS gets hate & disrespect, so them calling out those assholes is completely justified. It's also one of many reasons why their fandom ARMY is extremely protective of the guys. Especially when people pre-judge & want to slap a label on them. If you happen to check out their complete discography you'll find just about all genres of music. They are authentic, humble, kind, and have helped so many people get through hard times with their music. There's literally no other group like them.

Dont get me wrong I love Dynamite and Butter and i grew up listening to the backstreet boys, but those songs are not a reflection of who BTS is. They were created to tap into the western market moreso america as globally they were already recognised despite singing in korean. When you get to songs like Mic Drop, So What etc you get a different picture of the boys and the vast range of their music. The boys have a rap line which is RM, Jhope & Suga, they sing like Mic Drop, the cypher series pt 1, 2, 3 & 4 etc, you also have there solo rap songs like RM - Joke, Suga - Daechwita, Jhope - more & arson. The boys have behind the scenes of music videos, choreography and funny moments most of which have english subtitles, their concerts are crazy because everyone sings along to the korean lyrics regardless which country they are from. They do songs from ballads, through to rap and many in between. They are extremely diverse with Spring Day being a theory about the sewol ferry distaster that killed nearly 300 children on board. There is also a BT Universe in which case the early series of there music videos are connected with album notes etc to a hidden storyline woven in which deep army go down the rabbit hole and explore and put together. There are alot of elements about the boys which is what makes them so appealing......there concerts are just crazy and the boys are extremely high energy.....

I appreciate "Butter" and "Dynamite" putting BTS in the spotlight but those songs are NO WHERE NEAR showing their talents or reach

Thank you for your great reaction. These seven are really talented, they literally have more than 320 songs, not one of them is bad, and they have a variety of music in their songs. If you like rap, they have them. If you want quiet music, they have hip hop, rock as well. All of this is in BTS and also They have a series of albums and every album has a story. Every time an album comes out, it's like a continuation of the story. You must see the series. You will like the story. They are really 7 talented boys. I am very proud to be Stan for them💜

They are literally the ones that motivate me the most and give me confidence.
Most of their songs are about school problems, self-love, racism and more.
They help people love and appreciate themselves every day with their music,
and even save people from falling completely into darkness.
They are also the biggest and most successful band in the world.
BTS was formed in 2010 by BigHit Entertaiment, and they debuted in 2013 with No more dream.
BTS have broken a lot of records that have been set for years, have set some themselves,
and have quite a few awards in their possession. I am proud of them.
So they have a special place in my heart, because they are fans of ours and we are fans of theirs.
I am very proud to be an ARMY.

They are very diverse with their music, you will find that much of their older music has more hip hop&rap influence because thats what BTS started out doing even before they were famous since there were plans in the beginning for them to debut as a hip hop & rap group but debuted as a Kpop Idol Group instead which opened allot more doors in my opinion. *Their Rapline RM, SUGA and J-Hope befriended during their youth in the underground rap scene where RM and SUGA were legit underground rappers while JHOPE was a hip hop street/underground dancer for 10 years before becoming convince by RM to join BIGHIT and be a member of BTS.*

BTS are an incredible group who absolutely bust open the door to the western market. There were groups like Big Bang, Shinee and 2pm who began taking a shoulder to that door and let a tiny strip of light in, but newer groups (referred to as 4th Gen whilst BTS are in 3rd Gen) are huge ARMY and acknowledge that without BTS throwing a grenade at the door, they wouldn't have the reach they do. If you want another, younger group to check out I recommend Stray Kids.
They too have an incredible rap line and their sound is so unique they created a whole new genre called 'mala taste', mala being a spicy stew with pretty much any combination of ingredients in it. If club tracks are what you are after try 'Miroh', Freeze, Maniac, Thunderous and God's Menu. They also produce all their own music and add to the choreography - one of the main dancers was a BTS back-up dancer in Fire, Not Today and Spring Day.

As you are new to BTS I would recommend you watch their videos, and if they have no video, watch a lyric video. At least you will always hear the album version of the song. You can then get into live performances later. Although there is 'BTS Room Live' where they play a short medley of songs from 2013 to 2020. May give you an idea of where you want to go next. As you can see from hearing just a couple of tracks they are very diverse!💜

Thank you for giving these 7 young men a chance. I am not into Kpop but BTS is different, this group is truly one of a kind! Each one of them is unique, talented, and yet they are also the most humble artists out there. I'm a 48 year old A.R.M.Y. mom since August 2020, fairly new compared to ARMYs who have been with them since their debut in 2013. I found them during a difficult "empty nest" time and I have been following/supporting their work ever since (I make sure I get my BTS daily update). They produce top-notch, quality, and meaningful music and content. They have so much content out there that two years into being an ARMY, I am discovering something new everyday. There is a lot more besides their music and live performances...everything they do is for the ARMY and I am just so glad that they are gaining more and more following.

I think one of the reasons I love Stray kids (Skz) and why their music connects to me is the fact that they are heavily self produced and they write the majority if their music and lirycs, whuch makes their tracks very genuine. Stray kids tracks are full of surprises. LOL, often you don't know what's coming next, they have a huge variety in their discography and so far I like all of it.
Some of my fav tracks are The Tortoise and the Hare, Venom, Thunderous ( a track that incorporates traditional Korean music and instruments, wehre they talk back to the people that call their music noise. It's from their album Noeasy, which is a play on the word Noisy), Easy, District 9, Side Effects, Circus, Slump and Top. Also the track "We Go" by 3Racha, which is the Skz producing unit that consists of 3 of their members. And many more. Their lyrics always have a message and That's another reason I like them.
I really liked your review of God's Menu and in the hope that there will be more Skz songs reviews in the future, I am subscribing because if there are, I don't want to miss any of them. 🌞

There more you dive into kpop the more your playlists will change because although its korean mixed with english it has more music, lyrics and visual than any other wester artist can bring these days. And until radio and media all over the world step out of their only english (spanish ok sometimes) bubble we as Kpop fans appreciate everyone who spread the music. So thank you and have fun on your journey. I promise you won't regret it, weather its BTS, Blackpink, Stray Kids, Ateez or something else. Btw: my suggestion is and always will be: Not Today by BTS.

It opens up with Japanese-American DJ Steve Aoki‬, the song itself is owned by BigHit(HYBE) / BTS which was written by BTS Leader “RM” (comes out of ambulance) it was said to be inspired by Obama speech after he stopped talking and drops the MIC. After listening to the track and loved it so much that Steve collabed with BTS to make this remix version of their original song “Mic Drop” (which is in Korean) and he got featured in their music video. He does get credit for the remix on top of being in the MV, there’s also another remix with ‪Desiigner‬ voice played in the background in the intro of the music video. *FUN FACTS: Almost everything used is REAL except maybe the floating mics and firey debri after literally blowing up a car behind them.*
*Just to let you know they are not saying the western used “N” word it only sounds like it, the “Nega” word in their language means “I” or “I’m” in Korean.* Everyone who doesn’t understand abit about the language & meanings especially when they hear the “Nega” word; which is very commonly used allot in the asian culture. It’s NOT the same as the another “N” word, which allot of westerners got too comfortable hearing or saying then assuming automatically when they hear it from a foreigner that’s what they mean but in this case it has nothing to do with black people at all. *In some foreign languages/cultures, many commonly used western words will sound similar but have different meanings* #BTS #MicDrop #StopAsianHATE
