Spider-Man 3 was my favorite for a while because I got to see Peter CHOOSE to be good rather than be compelled by his guilt or whatever for the first time. It was one of the first times I saw my hero pull himself from the darkest place he's been and still come out just as heroic and amazing. It helps me a lot in my adult life, just like most of what Spidey has done and is
That point about Mary Jane and how she was feeling was an eye opener for me. I was ready to disagree but when you pointed out her line about her father, I realized why you were right. So many video essays sh t on Mary Jane in these movies but NEVER bring up this line and it's so weird. I agree that it was wrong to give Harry the affection she was supposed to give Peter, but Peter kissing Gwen, in the way you pointed out, was so much worse given the context. That kiss was so special to Mary Jane. So for Peter to do that with another girl must've really really hurt. Poor girl
This movie is so hated on. I always loved to watch the third movie even when my friends would make fun of me for it. Also the soundtrack for this movie was 🔥.

Spider-Man 3 was and still is the most underrated superhero movie its unbelievable man. I still dont get why people compare it with The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
My passionate defence about spider man 2 Peter unlike Spiderman 3 not only tried to kill his enemies but he also became harsh with his friends and loved ones and his acceptance of symbiote is just proving that he thinks that he can be better without failing and the symbiote bonding with him was the best moment considering it was the time where Peter was just lying to himself and maintaining a facade of hope trying to ignore his guilt of being the cause of aunt may's death...... This facade was cracked after the symbiote left Peter and we get to see why he is so sad and tried to not lose the symbiote but while trying to be a better hero he didn't see what he became and it executed the concept in its short run time without much problem
I loved this movie when it first came out in 2007 when I was 10 years old and always loved it and never understood why it was hated, Spider-Man 3 should be given another chance by haters
I love all three of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man movies. The second one is my favorite, but part 3 is good too. It's nice to find someone who shares my thoughts and opinions on the movie. I like Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, as well. However Tobey Maguire will always be Spider-Man to me. Just like Michael Keaton will always be Batman, and Christopher Reeve will always be Superman to me. Despite the different actors who have worn the suits.
Spider-Man 3 was my most revisited movie when I was a kid. I remember when I'd used to watch it tons of times. Ironically it made Venom my favorite Spider-Man villain.
I agree with your take on this movie - especially with what you said about the struggles between Peter and MJ. I always thought this movie was great. Venom is my favourite villain, but I do still feel like Venom shouldn't have been in it cause it cluttered things too much. Harry and Sandman were already more than enough. I wouldn't get rid of the black suit arc, though, because the way that played into the story with Sandman and Harry was amazing. Venom and Eddie should have just been set up with the black suit like they did, and then be done with it after Peter removes the suit. They could then have Eddie get the symbiote and become Venom in a 4th movie where Venom can get the proper screen time required to effectively tell that story with him, rather than have him be a rushed villain only used in the last 15 minutes of the movie. It still bugs me that Venom is one of Spidey's most powerful enemies, whom Spidey is legitimately terrified of, but it got treated like a relatively small thing compared to every other villain in the trilogy. It's not Raimi's fault, but I can't not knock this movie because of that. This is my least favourite of the 3 Raimi Spidey movies, but it's still a great addition to the trilogy, and is nowhere nearly as flawed as a lot of people pretend it is.
There is a different cut of this film called the Editor's Cut, and it is one of the most frustrating alternative cuts of a film I have ever seen because it adds some helpful deleted scenes, including an alternate explanation for why Harry goes to help Peter that plays soooo much better than the butler taking forever to tell Harry what really happened to Norman. BUT it cuts the scene where Aunt May tells Peter to forgive himself out entirely, which does so much damage to Peter's arc. So it kinda creates a situation where the ideal edit would be hybrid of both cuts rather than one or the other. Anyways, great vid, totally agree with you, I think this movie though flawed is a lot better than most people give it credit for.
This video is exactly what I have been telling my friends for years when they would hate on this movie. Don’t understand the Mary Jane hate. This movie is her best performance in the trilogy. This suffered in production pains. There is so much that didn’t make the cut and some that’s just actual lost media. Some example are: Spider-Man 3 part 2 which was cut early due to not having a satisfying transition that would have enough time for both movies. Venom being an animatronic, being literally 3 different colours in different mediums (purple, blue, black) The vulture. One specially infamous piece of this might actually have been made nearly completely but is just lost. It is the confusing original death of venom. The version that’s likely what they went with is him being stabbed by Spider-Man whilst he was stuck which would lead to the symbiote revealing that it had consumed brock in some strange metaphor for being consumed by the dark. It would then try to tear up peters face only to be thwarted and evaporated by a loud noise. This actually could’ve even been partially left in the video game which does have him being impaled I never actually watched it but apparently the editors cut has better pacing. Like the dancing is after attacking Harry in the apartment AND the whole Eddie thing.
I oddly love Spider-Man 3 and probably harder for people to understand I also like the game for it. The symbiote suit was like I always imagined in growing up coloring in Spider-Man comic style books and then when the Raimi movies came out I dressed up in the full get-up and went wild when I saw them in the theatres after the first movie I ran out after it ending using my toy web-shooters to web up everyone in the shopping mall as my mother apologized for me - I ran all the way to the car. I had one of the original wrestler/human spider suit action figure that you could transform into Raim 1 suit Spidey and last I checked it was over $500 nowadays on ebay. And when going to the 2nd I got a Doctor Octopus figure from Mcdonalds as I really liked the design. And for the third I was obsessed with the suit, the rain and all of the change up to the themes to a darker tone (I was going closer to my teen years at this point). 💯
Among the Spidey fandom, I always opined that that every live action interpretation of Spider-Man has positive aspects that are worthwhile and need to be celebrated. Many of the flaws from the "lesser" movies like Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man Duology (ESPECIALLY the first one) is because the vision that was intended by their directors was not allowed to be realised. Both Spider-Man 3 and TASM 1 have some amazing aspects that were not allowed to be taken to their fullest extent. This is most aparent through the themes and ideas that were not fully realised. In the case of Spider-Man 3 is the exploration of a less empathetic and vain Peter Parker becoming consumed by his hatred and anger. Using Venom and the symbiote would have been the perfect avenue for that exploration. This could have added so much to Peter Parker's character evolution, learning to be responsible and to sacrifice in the first two movies to learning forgiveness in this one. Venom would have been ideal for that because of one line " I like being bad, it makes me happy". This illustrates the difference between Peter and Eddie (his darker counterpart in this movie) and what peter could have been had he stayed in that terrible state of mind filled by hatred and anger. In the case of TASM is the relationshio Peter has with his father and parental figures and the ramifications this has for him as a person. Hot take, but Andrew's asshole and douchebag personality in the first movie is not comic accurate but also fitting with the arc of Peter Parker in the TASM movie. The Peter Parker of TASM is a lonely and abandoned child and that is present in the first part of the movie that many people would loose patience with that, but that's the point. In the best scene of the movie, the rescue of Jack on the bridge, all of these themes and ideas come togheter perfectly in my opinion, completing Peter's arc. It's the scene where he rescues a young and scared boy and gives something he can never have, a reunion with his father. It's when he sees the joy and hope he can bring to the people of NYC (through an amazing performance by Andrew Garfield). His arc is completed and he realises that he needs to use his powers for good, and that's when he calls himself for the first time "Spider-Man". Having a resentful, angry, abandoned young man learning not to be selfish and using his powers for good through his alter ego, that's not only beautiful, but that's Spider-Man. Both of the movies suffer from interference that prevented these wondeful themes from being fully realised. Not because of a lack of vision or talent behind the camera (especially in the case of TASM).
thank you for much for this! many of your points are already ones ive grown familiar with (as you said, getting older and more mature grants us the lens to inspect this movie more honestly, because this movie actually happens to be really grounded on how satisfying AND unsatisfying life can be), but it still feels so good to hear when someone articulates these thoughts out loud. considering how much Raimi had to deal with behind the scenes with stupid ass producers (Avi Arad istg), its frankly quite impressive how much Raimi still pulled off in this movie around pacing for three villains. what he had to deal with is unfair, but he produced a fine product DESPITE the unfair odds stacked against him. i guess im just saying what you said in my own words
5:27 I have stated this for years now, and on countless video essays about Spiderman 3, they should have had Harry faking his amnesia the entire time. It would have been such an easy fix and would have made Harry a much better villain.
I hate Spiderman: Homecoming. But I love Spider-man 3 compared this one. Homecoming was just plain childlike and goofy. But after the all the memes Spiderman 3 comes out on top for me 😂 can't take it serious after the memes but the audience love it now, the hate wasn't needed. No way home was a love letter to spidey fans
i think this movie is really underappreciated these days and i think it comes full circle for Peters Charicter Journey since the first movie was about Responsibility this one was about Forgiveness and he did with Uncle Bens killer and it was full circle with Peters friendship with Harry and MJ also i think this movie still contains that Raimi charm the first 2 movies had and it keeps me watching the movie and alot of great action scenes to and amazing Music and the Arc for Flint Marko is still sad to this day
Spiderman 3 is perhaps the greatest Spiderman film. As far as a film, people forget that the studio bullied Venom in - and it STILL was wonderous. Huge stakes, huge payoffs. Old world The Sound of Music Broadway -style beats and arcs. On top of all that...its the vibeyist. Bully Maguire is GenZ certified. No other Spiderman film moved the needle like that outside of Normans antics. 9 out of 10. I said it. Since it came out I stand by it.
I rewatched all the Raimi spiderman movies during the 2020 lockdowns. I grew up loving the movies as a kid. Saw all of them in the theaters and everything, but I wanted to see if they held up. The first two did, and the third is still good, but I can see the problems. It's a mess, but at least it's a mess with heart. It's crazy how much more soul this studio meddled film has compared to studio meddled superhero movies you get now. At least, from my perspective.
I’m hearing you out, but even then, nothing will ever compare to how dramatic and dark the first 2006 teaser made it out to be when it played right before Casino Royale in theaters 🥺 I was disappointed when I was a child, and I still partially am. Same goes for the first Iron Man 3 teaser compared to the tone of the actual film. Trailers NEED to reflect the tone of the film man lmao
I think the issue is how the suit changes his character. He goes from the Peter Parker everyone knows to someone else. And Mary Jane isn't acting like the girl next door, so the formula is kind of blown apart. But otherwise there is a lot of cool stuff in the movie.
Dude this is so real, every winter I get this sudden urge to rewatch the Spider-Man movies but I always end up watching Spider-Man 3 the most. I genuinely love this movie a ton. I do think there were mistakes made, I think they should’ve kept Spidey with the black suit and kept sandman as the main villain therefore saving venom for a different installment but that’s my opinion. As far as the movie as it already is goes, there are great visuals, great villains, and great moments. Besides No Way Home I think my favorite Spider-Man films are the first and third Raimi movie (yes I do like the second but I think it’s slightly overrated) and the amazing Spider-Man, TASM is such a great movie in my opinion 😎
God I wish the symbiote had its own movie. This movie should have been the resolve of the conflict between the Osborns and Spidey/Peter. It should also had been the resolve between the killer of unc Ben. It was also a nice opportunity to introduce Eddie and the symbiote towards the end setting up Spiderman 4 which should had been all Venom and Eddie. (And a possible character introduction to carnage/cleetus)
no matter what i will always love this movie even for it's faults. no one can convince me it's that bad of a movie. especially when it's my fave out of the 3
I've always loved Spider-Man 3 and was shocked when I found out some people hated it. I love all three films and think it's a perfect trilogy. Sandman, the black suit saga, and the score are highlights to a severely underrated film.
Honestly I know how you feel about Spider-Man 3 and I feel the same way about the movie. I saw the movie when it came out and I liked it and it got better with each. It made me wanna try out the game based on the movie and it wasn't that bad either. I enjoyed the Spider-Man 3 Game as much as enjoyed the movie.
I am still of the opinion that Harry should’ve become Venom. Maybe the symbiote somehow made its way onto a comatose Harry and boom, there you go, proper third act villain with proper motivation.
I always enjoyed 3 the most out of the Trilogy no matter the flaws it has just because of the message of the story and how things end, it ends perfectly. Seeing that Peter in NWH really made me feel like i haven’t seen someone in years
So,this trilogy are my all time favorite movies. I love em'. I have tons of memorabilia, met Sam Raimi several times and know pretty much all the lines and fight scenes by heart. So,it bothers me when people say Spider-man 3 is horrible. For me,the movie is flawed, sure. Venom and the symbiote storyline are my all time favorites and I don't think they got the development and screentime they deserved. But horrible?? No,not by a long shot. in fact,I'd say part 3 is a damn good movie. It delivers the action, the emotion and the heart that 1 and 2 have. This movie has been underrated since it came out.
I feel like in order to properly defend this movie, you really gotta give proper credence to the counter arguments instead of just writing them off as written by 10yr olds. This has always been my favorite movie, but a lot of the things that people make fun of are true. The bar was set so high, that anything less was going to be trashed. I don't like the Holland movies, and i like Andrew, even if his movies were just misguided. Tobey is peak, and being the worst of it's trilogy, i think 3 still holds as my favorite. I modeled my pseudo emo phase in 8th grade after Peter in this movie, like it shaped a big part of me. A lot of people will say that Raimi's integrity is visible, but it's obscured by studio intervention. I agree with that. Spider-Man 3 is treated unfairly, and i think the only way to really do it justice is to really dig in to what makes it work, and acknowledging why others are justified in arguing against it.
I genuinely think this is the best of the trilogy thematically. It’s messy but the plot lines are interwoven well enough for this kind of story. It takes interesting risks with its protagonist and that’s something you can’t say about most CB movies today. The worst thing about this movie is the amnesia subplot. This isn’t nostalgia either. I rewatched the trilogy a few months ago and was surprised at how well done the themes are portrayed in the 3rd movie. It’s goofy but entirely sincere which again is more than what we get nowadays
Perfectly said. Like I mentioned in the video, Idk how people call this movie worse than anything that's come out in the past 10 years from sony, marvel, or the dceu
Yeah like when you compare the others to this movie, I completely understand but you can see where Sam Raimi was having a hard time with the movie. - Sandman: Probably who the main villain would have been. He would have perfectly tied intro the theme of revenge and forgiveness in the story. - Harry: Works but not as the main villain of the story not yet. Sam Raimi can perfectly structure the narrative between Spider Man and the villain that Harry would have worked for Spider Man 4 but developed the animosity in Spider Man 3 (with only Sandman) - Venom: WORKS, in black the suit only for this movie and possibly Venom as Eddie Brock in Spider Man 5 (which Harry’s arc and rivalry end in Spider Man 4)
i also like spidey 3 and don't understand the hate. the mj hate from what i heard is because she's been with other guys. flash, harry, almost to peter, then john, back to peter, a little of back to harry then back to peter. peter tried to help her with the problem of the review but came off wrong. he meant to say that you get back down, you get right up. yeah, i still don't understand why he suddenly kissed gwen. the harry having amnesia is from the comics i like venom, too, and he was a terrifying adversary for spidey. sandman is a good presentation of a man trying to do bad but in good intentions, stealing to get money to make her well again. then he gets powers and still does that. i like the dance scene. it was funny then, it's funny now. it was supposed to be funny, but haters didn't catch the MEMO! i think topher did good. i didn't hate him. and him as venom was also intense and creepy. even when he went invisible, ( camouflage ability he has in comics), and made raptor shrieks.(for the haters), do not tell me that you saw that scene, and weren't intimidated. it's sad that we didn't get spidey 4, though.
The Venom storyline is great, not even worried about the Topher Grace hate. He actually resembled Eddie's personality perfectly it's not a big deal he wasn't the size of Brock Lesnar. Venom is better evil instead of the other option. Sandman is the best villian in this one.
THANK YOU I love this movie probably because I have a weird thing that I like a lot of bad received things but I never understood why people hated this movie plus the bully maguire dance it's corny but hilarious.
I can definitely agree with the criticisms now that I am older but honestly I still love this movie to death. And it gave us one of the best memes of all time.... Bully Maguire
Spider-Man 3 is a great movie. It could've been better if they had another hour to give Eddie's and Venom's characters more screen time together and if they would've made Venom bulky like he's supposed to be then it would've been even better. But as it stands it's still a good movie.

I appreciate you sticking up for Mary Jane Peter really was tripping at times it’s like a bunch of kids I think complaining about her character
Words are not enough to express how much I LOVE this movie!!!
Pretty much agree on everything except saying BvS is worse than Spider-Man 3. Solid video.
Tasm 2 and Far From Home were goated wym? 😭
im glad you find them enjoyable...me on the other hand...
i think this movie is really underappreciated these days and i think it comes full circle for Peters Charicter Journey since the first movie was about Responsibility this one was about Forgiveness and he did with Uncle Bens killer and it was full circle with Peters friendship with Harry and MJ also i think this movie still contains that Raimi charm the first 2 movies had and it keeps me watching the movie and alot of great action scenes to and amazing Music and the Arc for Flint Marko is still sad to this day
Spiderman 3 is perhaps the greatest Spiderman film.
Great vid Dylan. Bully Maguire is goated the critics are crazy. I’m gonna put some dirt in their eyes
They are crazy
I rewatched all the Raimi spiderman movies during the 2020 lockdowns. I grew up loving the movies as a kid. Saw all of them in the theaters and everything, but I wanted to see if they held up. The first two did, and the third is still good, but I can see the problems. It's a mess, but at least it's a mess with heart. It's crazy how much more soul this studio meddled film has compared to studio meddled superhero movies you get now. At least, from my perspective.
agreed!
I’m hearing you out, but even then, nothing will ever compare to how dramatic and dark the first 2006 teaser made it out to be when it played right before Casino Royale in theaters 🥺
I was disappointed when I was a child, and I still partially am.
Spiderman 4 should have also had the vulture in it as an intial villain but then ending with Venom as the main villain.
no matter what i will always love this movie even for it's faults. no one can convince me it's that bad of a movie. especially when it's my fave out of the 3
I've always loved Spider-Man 3 and was shocked when I found out some people hated it.
You can’t tell me Spider-Man 3 isn’t better than Far From Home and Amazing Spider-Man 2.
This is and will always be the best Spiderman movie for me
Love your style brother!
Thank you! glad you like it!
I used to play Spider-Man 3 all the time till Insomniac Spider-Man came out.
I liked it as it was i now have nostalgia for the movie it was one of the many movie's that made my childhood
Should’ve talked about the sandman sandcastle scene.. now THAT is cinema
I am still of the opinion that Harry should’ve become Venom. Maybe the symbiote somehow made its way onto a comatose Harry and boom, there you go, proper third act villain with proper motivation.
I've been waiting for this my whole life
THIS MOVIE AINT 💩💩🗑
ITS *✨️⭐️you got a golden star⭐️✨️*
I always enjoyed 3 the most out of the Trilogy no matter the flaws it has just because of the message of the story and how things end, it ends perfectly. Seeing that Peter in NWH really made me feel like i haven’t seen someone in years
I’ve always loved Spider-man 3! Sure it’s the weakest of the Raimi trilogy but I still prefer it over the Garfield and Holland movies
It's so slept on...i had to speak my truth
My only issue with the movie was their was not Enough black suited Spider-Man scenes
Literally my favorite out of the trilogy
I wouldn't say he doesn't tell harry because of his ego...its just nice that your best friend doesn't wanna kill you anymore ya know 👉👈
Nah spidey 3 is so excellent thank you for spreading the good word
Brother, I’m not hear to be convinced; I’m here to see if your reasoning is the same as mine
And, subsequently, now I'll have a passionate defense for this video.
Sam Raimi can perfectly structure the narrative between Spider Man and the villain that Harry would have worked for Spider Man 4 but developed the animosity in Spider Man 3 (with only Sandman)
- Venom: WORKS, in black the suit only for this movie and possibly Venom as Eddie Brock in Spider Man 5 (which Harry’s arc and rivalry end in Spider Man 4)
i also like spidey 3 and don't understand the hate. the mj hate from what i heard is because she's been with other guys. flash, harry, almost to peter, then john, back to peter, a little of back to harry then back to peter. peter tried to help her with the problem of the review but came off wrong. he meant to say that you get back down, you get right up. yeah, i still don't understand why he suddenly kissed gwen. the harry having amnesia is from the comics i like venom, too, and he was a terrifying adversary for spidey. sandman is a good presentation of a man trying to do bad but in good intentions, stealing to get money to make her well again. then he gets powers and still does that. i like the dance scene. it was funny then, it's funny now. it was supposed to be funny, but haters didn't catch the MEMO! i think topher did good. i didn't hate him. and him as venom was also intense and creepy. even when he went invisible, ( camouflage ability he has in comics), and made raptor shrieks.(for the haters), do not tell me that you saw that scene, and weren't intimidated. it's sad that we didn't get spidey 4, though.
The Venom storyline is great, not even worried about the Topher Grace hate. He actually resembled Eddie's personality perfectly it's not a big deal he wasn't the size of Brock Lesnar. Venom is better evil instead of the other option. Sandman is the best villian in this one.
I was always a mar defender of this movie it’s the best one in the trilogy I think
The best movie in the series
this movie is so good man
it’s the character of sandman that makes this movie very engaging
you are so underrated i kove your channel and thank god someone has the same views i have on this incredible film ❤
Insane amount of spiderman merch 😂
It’s how you know I’m a fan
@ that’s a facttt btw boutta take ya tier list template for my next video and im gonna mention you 🫡
I never cared for sandman's story, he's just fun to see while fighting (the first scene)
I wish if Sam raimi made a spider-man 4 it could have carnage after Eddie Brock exploded the symbiote goes to a jail to get someone new to control
I still say that Sandman should not have been here. His almost on the verge of tears face irritates me.
Since I’m early gotta comment W Dylan W upload
THANK YOU I love this movie probably because I have a weird thing that I like a lot of bad received things but I never understood why people hated this movie plus the bully maguire dance it's corny but hilarious.
Saw it again in theaters earlier this year. Such a fun and rewatchable movie. Can't fully understand the hate
I know it has issues but I LOVE Amazing Spidey 2
spiderman 3 feels too much happenings in the movie thats why I never bored to watch it.😊
I can definitely agree with the criticisms now that I am older but honestly I still love this movie to death. And it gave us one of the best memes of all time.... Bully Maguire
Spider-Man 3 is a great movie. It could've been better if they had another hour to give Eddie's and Venom's characters more screen time together and if they would've made Venom bulky like he's supposed to be then it would've been even better. But as it stands it's still a good movie.
broski you look like you can the be the son of peter and mary jane
thanks so much!
i'll take that as a compliment
