I agree with Tamera. Bear may be the good guy who fought off another animal. The blood may be from another animal that Bear came to Earls rescue when he yelled out. I really don’t think he did it.
Knowing dog behavior, I actually think Daniel is spot on, it doesn't make Bear a bad dog, it just makes them both "dogs" its what they do,, and Earl is at the prime age for that stuff to happen and yes, Bear is acting guilty, Also Daniel can't give Bear the attention that some may think, he is not a regular pet, he is a working dog and its what he loves.
Bear looks like "Sorry dad, the coon got to him before I could get to it" just as he would look like if something attacked a baby goat and he was to late. We all saw how he took down the piglet without it being wounded. Earl is just shell shocked, not scared of Bear, if he was he would lay down submissively when Bear came close. Having Bear fixed will stop him from straying when the neighbors dog is in heat, so a good idea. Look at the dogs body languish, Earl clearly is buddy with Bear, no competition between them. No more feeding on the terrace to attract coon and possums.
@@rodneyferris4089 Not so sure. You're the first so far to back Daniel. Poor Bear. He deserves better than a Dad taking sides while Bear is indeed the saviour. May that racoon teach the Dad and Earl a good lesson some day.
A coon was my first thought. Bear has big teeth and those don't look like big teeth wounds. Which would mean that Bear is probably the hero in this story and maybe saved Earl's life.
I have wrote to you guys a few times over the years when it come to wild animals. A coon will attack the face and chest because that is where it can reach. Bear, on the other hand would bite the back and neck of the smaller dog. how is Bear going to get Earls chest? Look close for a dead coon or other smaller animal. Bear would have killed it for the bites on his face. As always I love you chanel, and Earl should heal very very fast.
Just reposting this here as it failed to post on your latest video. I've been watching your channel for over 2 years, haven't commented before, and appreciate that you tell it like it is with your farm animals. This has to include your working dog Bear. Like other viewers, my first instinct with Bear being blamed was unhappiness and I thought it was unfair. I've watched Bear grow up and he puts in a hard and honest day's work every day. He was there first. It's his patch and his territory. His gentle temperment with the kids is also incredible as many working dogs I know are aloof and all business and only answer to one alpha male human. But having Bear neutered is a gift for him and one of the kindest things you can do. Neutered male dogs live longer, are healthier, develop fewer cancers and tend not to get into as many bloody scraps with other male dogs. One day, Bear will be an old boy and if he charges into a fight with another male dog he'll really take damage and suffer. Over the years, we've grown to see dogs as little humans or fur babies. They aren't. They don't behave like children and have their own instincts. We don't do animals any favour by pretending they are humans. Having Bear fixed is a kindness both for him and for future unwanted litters of his puppies. Who knows if Bear rally mauled your house dog. But it's put the push on to get him fixed and that's at least one positive outcome from a bad situation. You did right.
Bear won’t have let coyote that close. But both males need to be nuetered to keep this from occurring again. If female is about to be in heat more fights will happen
@@138NastyNate my pit bull does EXACTLY what Bear did when I just say his name. He has ALWAYS been that way since a tiny puppy. That in no way is a sign of guilt.
I'm believing Bear fought off what ever animal attacked Earl ! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Even if Bear was feeling his oats I don't think he would go for the kill with his buddy.
Honestly, if Bear wanted to kill earl he would have. Earl is young with no fighting experience whereas Bear has gone after Coyotes and other wild things. A racoon was prob after the dogfood Bear heard Earl barking/crying. Bear steps in and gets some bites too. For earl to tear three teeth out it should have done more damage to Bears face.

I agree with you 100%. Bear was defending Earl or trying to save him not kill him. Listen to the vet. Daniel you are do the best thing for Earl and Bear.
Daniel, I understand the way you see it and that is one scenario, but my first thoughts were that a large male raccoon attacked Earl and Bear came in trying to get the coon off Earl. Inadvertently in this struggle, Bear may have mistakenly bit Earl while trying to get the coon.
Bear is taking the blame for this because they failed to house Earl when they left, a d they want someone to blame. Bears going to get snipped to placate angry feelings, but what's going to happen is they find a big dead coon lying around afterwards?
Looks like legs were the target. Dogs go for other areas in fights. And the size of Bear vs . Earl, a heck of a lot more damage to skin around neck, shoulders and sides. I am a former Vet Tech, and have seen the big dog vs smaller dog damage before. So...raccoon. betcha!! And Earl is soo pathetic. Awwww!!! He's going to be very sore for a day or 4. (He'll be fine. Going after treats is a wonderful sign.)
That dog fought fiercely for its life. I wouldn't leave him outside if I wasn't home or overnight. Glad he made it. I can see that you do care for him. I wish you all well. Great decision to have Bear neutered.
I'd start using your security camera's for the house that you showed us a while ago, poor Earl hope he makes a full recovery and I hope it wasn't Bear that attacked him I hope he was defending him from another animal.
The thing about it is once 2 males go at it sometimes the larger alpha can really put a whoopin on the lesser. It seems like they would just give a quick bite and leave it at that but they dont . looks like bear really over did it. My brother had 3 males who were all from the same litter. They were large like bear and for the most part they were cool but when it came to food or a ball or toy those 3 would tear each other to pieces. My brother lovef them all and wouldnt get rid of either of the 3. Unfortunately they keep them in separate fenced areas of his ranch. So i feel for you. Earl we love you buddy. Get well soon. And Bear ........we love you too dude. You need to behave once you get fixed cuz you know u messed up.
I really don't think think that Bear attacked Earl..... I think it was (as the vet said) a raccoon and not a big dog...... if Bear was to attack him there would be much more damage to Earl. I've had cats that got attacked by raccoons and they will do some damage to a small(ish) animal. just my 2 cents worth ..... glad he'll be ok.
Vets are very in tune with injuries sustained by racoons vs injuries sustained by dog fights. But heck, why blame a raccoon when someone has decided it was bear without proof. Emotional tantrum because a house dog was left outside and got seriously injured.
A very wise old Vet once told me (after a very severe fight between my 2 NEUTERED male dogs left me struggling to try to keep further altercations from happening), "once two dogs have gotten into a serious fight, future fighting is almost inevitable...they will fight to the death if allowed to continue''. I wound up getting seriously bitten myself in my efforets to STOP them. With all due respect...here's a few suggestions; Going forward, never feed the dogs together or in a common area, consider making Earl an "indoor dog''(using a leash or run for bathroom breaks), always keep the security cameras on the pets, and have Earl supervised 100% of the time when not indoors. Ideas may sound overly cautious and/or harsh, but the bottom line=Earl is no match for either predatory raccoons OR your LGD Bear,
I totally concur with everything you say. This breed of dog is not much of a fighter either...more suited to be an inside dog. I hope they need your advise. We do a lot of rescue and have needed to separate dogs that were previously fine together then suddenly got into a fight. They never got along after that. One is now inside and one is outside now.
I agree...Earl should be kept supervised. Or Bear restricted to certain areas...if thats possible. I have 2 dogs. The tiny toy poodle always starts it. She thinks shes the boss🙄
Earl was supposed to be an inside dog when they got him. This whole thing is not fair to bear who has a job to do and has done it relentlessly. This is human error, not the animals fault.
I agree, but I am not convinced Earl's injuries were caused by Bear. Bear is a Big Dog and the wounds Earl has are not near what I think a dog with the mouth the size of Bears would inflict on him and with what the Vet said I think they both fought/were attacked by another animal (raccoon). I would think the Vet has seen a lot of attacked dogs to know what she is looking at.
I would never leave a dog the size of Earl outside when I wasn’t home, for the reasons you just experienced. I don’t believe those injuries were caused by Bear.
Im thinking something else came to visit dog food bowl. Wild pig,, Large male Raccoon , coyote..Those wounds even on bear are from a long timely fight. I think both dogs took on a critter. Bear could be a Hero instead of a turd
How can a mom's love be more Earl than Bear? That's like saying you love 1 child more than another. I agree why are the dogs left outside and protected when you're not home? Just saying. I am not sub or ever watched a video of yours so my opinion really doesn't matter but I think more precautions should have been taken since you noticed aggressive behavior from Bear.
I think Bear also experienced trama and was needing some loving from Dad. It makes sense that it was a coon attacking Earl. Not a large dog. Plus, where you found Earl hiding in such a small area makes me think a coon backed him into that spot. Better get some cameras watching your porch area to see this coon and get rid of it before Bear has to fight it off again because I believe that’s what Bear did to save his Earl.
@@countpicula no Bear has a wide muzzle and large teeth. The wound would be bigger. If it was a dominance fight even then the wounds would still be bigger. Plus Earl is still pretty young and from what Daniel shows isn't a dominate dog so he wouldn't pick a fight with Bear.
Yep… a raccoon bit the tip of my finger off at the local park zoo when I was a child. I tried to hand feed it.I didn’t even realize it at first because it was like a knife going through soft butter. It’s only when my brother and I saw the blood spurting out that we saw what it did. The tetanus shot hurt more than the raccoon. Plus raccoons are scavengers and love dry dog or cat food.
Poor Earl. I'm glad he's ok. My mom's dog got attacked by another dog and it was pretty bad but she recovered. I think Earl will be ok. Bless you all. Happy holidays to you and Earl. 💞🐕💞🎄🎁🎉 P.S. We may never know what happened. However, it's time to get Bear fixed, my friend, for everyone's benefit.
It saddens me that getting rid of Bear was even on the table. I know for now he is staying, but I fear if it really was a dog fight that it is bound to happen again. He has protected your animals from coyotes and other predators for years and has gotten along well with the other dogs. Bear has been nothing but loyal. Earl is the newcomer to the pack. I think it would be easier for Earl to settle with a new family than Bear going to a new farm where he has to learn a new herd of animals and a new property. If a new dog is brought into the fold and it changes the pack dynamics in an undesirable way then they should be the one to go. Why does Earl need to be bred? There are thousands of dogs that are euthanized every day in shelters. Encourage families to adopt from shelters.
If they get rid of bear, every animal on their property becomes a smorgasbord for the animals that roam their property at night. Even the mini cows, the donkey poodles and donkeys. Im sure the loss of goats wouldn't bother them also much as Daniel has mentioned several times he is drifting away from raising goats as a main livestock animal.
@@badmoonryzin7251 I was referring to the fact that if the neuter didn't work that it was suggested he might not be able to stay. Again to reiterate BOTH dogs should be neutered. There is no need to breed dogs. There are thousands being killed in shelters everyday.
It's a shame that Bear who's learned to provide protection, watch out for the livestock, gets the brunt of the blame when there is a active young dog feeling himself and no one knows what really happened...
My 80 lb dog kept attacking my Jack Russell (both were intact males), we got the big dog fixed & there hasn’t been another incident since. I hope this helps your fur family as much as it did mine.
I find it hard to believe that Bear attacked Earl, there would have been so much more damage. I think Bear came to Earl's defense and got bit as a result.
It was already stated that Bear has been having issues with Earl the last few weeks. So it's not really hard to believe that he could've beat him up bad.
@@lawrencea1989 , I saw that, but I still think that if it was Bear, there would have been much more damage to Earl. Whatever happened, it is a good thing Bear is going to be neutered. I wish Earl a complete recovery.
@@lee8300 I get what you're saying, but I've owned many very large dogs that were very capable of killing other smaller dogs I had, and they don't always attack to kill, sometimes they only want to teach the other dog a lesson, so they'll take them down and cause injuries but they'll only go so far and not kill them. And seeing the size of the area that was bruised on his chest, It had to be something with a large mouth and strong bite. If a dog the size of Bear would have taken Earl down and got him on his back as dominant dogs do to show their dominance, and then Earl started bitting him on the side of his face and Bear just got a mouthful and gave him a good shake, it would have caused those same type of injuries.

Even with getting Bear fixed, I would put up a dog run for Earl when you don’t have time to monitor them. He would be safe from all bigger animals. I have been breeding dogs for many years and there are times neutering hasn’t helped with the behaviour. Just a bit of info is all.
I so agree. I had a Corgi mix male who was fixed and hubby was gifted an American Staffordshire Bulldog by his brigade. We had him neutered. All was good until the bulldog reached two. He absolutely would not accept the older Corgi being the dominant alpha. About 6 times we had to have the Corgi stitched up and I was at my wits end with the bulldog. God intervened one night. The bulldog got bloat and died enroute to the hospital. Daniel, you simply can not leave the two of them out of your site. It's what dogs do and it will happen again, with barely any warning.
My first thought was racoon. I don't think Earl would make it through an attack by Bear. Multiple bite wounds and the skin cut/ tear sure sounds more like racoon than a big dog. Pretty sure Bear would have broken or crushed bones. Either way, having to intact males can certainly be a territorial challenge!
Big dogs generally go for the neck of smaller dogs and as most of Earl's wounds were more underneath his body, I'm thinking a fat racoon attacked Earl and Bear was a hero. Glad Earl is on the mend; hope Bear doesn't hold a grudge over loosing his bits.
Daniel, I think the raccoon is what happened and Bear protected his buddy. I think Earl hid under the deck because the raccoon was out for the food in their bowls. Question, do you think neutering Bear will decrease his ability to protect the animals as he should?
It doesn't decrease Bella's protecting Bear when Bear was attacked by a raccoon. Spaying and neutering doesn't take away that drive. Would it take away yours? lol
I agree I don’t think bear did this he may have been there when the raccoon did this and was protecting Earl and may have been bit himself. GO BEAR!!!!
When males fight and see each other again the reaction is not typically a greeting of miss you buddy like bear and earl did. The attached dog usually squeals and hides, the attacker dog usually struts proud. Bear lowered his head like dude you ok, I'll protect you come on out. Vet does know their different bites as well. So bear is innocent until proven otherwise, no proof here.
I agree with the vet’s assessment, I don't think Bear attacked Earl, I think Bear was trying to fed off either a racoon or a possum that was attacking Earl and Bear also got bit in the process. And to these other people who say get rid of Bear, when we all don't know what really happened, plus would you get rid of your children if something happen. Prayers for Earl speedy recovery.
Not a possum. The possum would have played dead. They don't fight. OTOH, raccoons are very bold and will kill a dog in a fight. Chances are VERY high against Bear attacking Earl. The evidence all points away from this. The vet is right. Might have to watch BOTH dogs for rabies. When a raccoon has rabies, they'll attack anything, including humans and moving cars. They're insane in that situation.
@@Mooseman327 are you sure about that? I watch my two pitts and a possum go at it one time, the possum didn't lay down and play dead it fought back where my dog was either scratched or bitten on the nose where she had to go to vet, but not before they tagged teamed it and lets say my dogs won!!! But I still think Bear didn't attack Earl
I think Bears body language was in response to Daniel’s voice and attitude towards him. He could sense the disapproval and judgement. If you do not have footage of the attack I think you have to give bear proper justice by letting him be innocent until proven guilty. And you will need to change your feeding habits because you may be drawing raccoons onto your porch. If you are really worried about them being together without supervision then you will need to provide the supervision and or just keep them apart when you can not be with them. I really do not think you can judge bear from his body language or some blood. The blood and some signs of injury can also be from a wild animal. Bear is smart and realized you are not happy with him and responded accordingly!!
exactly dogs are really good at reading peoples emotions towards them, That's why a lot of people get the guilty look on their dogs faces when the owner discovers what they have done.
And raccoons come out at nite when this happened. Would Bear be shaking like that if he wasn't scared? You never raised your voice but I could see him quivering. If you want Bear pups, save his sperm.
Daniel, I kind of believe the vet about the bite because we had a big dog like Bear that was named Bear that if he got into a fight with another dog, then he would have killed it.I think Bear came in to take care of Earl. That's my 2 cents worth but dogs can be dominant over food and territory. 👍
I think God that Earl is OK he’s such a cutie I just pray that he will have a fast recovery.. Bear just doesn’t seem like the type of dog that would do something like that I believe a raccoon came around there and attacked Earl and bear was trying to help Earl and I guarantee you one thing if that is the case I guarantee you that raccoons laying up there in the woods somewhere dead because I think bear thinks he’s there to protect all the animals….
I think there was a raccoon involved. They will attempt to kill dogs and cats if they feel threatened. Raccoons can be downright mean. Check out how they behave when they are together.
Both boys need to be neutered if you want peace. If you find that there are still issues, that may be the option, or to keep Earl away from Bear, all together. Bear will always protect, whether he's intact or not, but if only one is neutered, you still have the hormone issue, and Bear may become even more dominant, because he's going to try and dominate an intact male. It's kind of an all or none situation. I worked for a shelter for 20yrs, and I trained dogs, and the #1 complaint of dogs coming into the shelter was because either neither were neutered or only 1. Earl will possibly need it too, or you could possibly still have issues, and poor Earl will lose every time. I have a yorkie and a dane. The yorkie is the dominant. I had to neuter both to have peace. Because, yorkies like to start fights they can't finish! Give Earl a hug, and pet ole Bear's head. He's just being a dog, after all. Hormones rule their brain sometimes! lol
Well said. I'm very disappointed that Arms was so irresponsible not to have his dogs fixed. It's not a case of he can't afford it. I get so angry at irresponsible pet owners!
@@JUSTICEK I understand your comment and opinion, but we can't judge someone, just because they have an un-neutered dog. His dog is not roaming, making babies everywhere. He is a responsible owner. I have no qualms with someone that is responsible with intact animals, if they aren't running all over God's creation, and breeding any female around. If issues continue, I would suggest getting both done. Trying Bear first will test the waters. It'll take about 30 days before the neuter even takes affect in behavioral changes. I don't condemn owners, just because they aren't fixed. I may judge owners that let their intact animals roam. The Arms are not those type people. They truly love and care for their animals. They are not irresponsible. Try not to judge a person's character, by one accident.
@@jtdamomma I may have misheard but I think according to the next video, there's a female on a neighbouring farm with Bear's puppies. Sorry in advance if I'm mistaken.
The wounds are not what you would get from bear. They would be deep puncture wounds mostly to the neck area. Raccoons attack the face and front legs which is what you have here. My cane corso engaged a racoon and stopped when it became 3 on 1. On both dogs. I have known dogs that don't pay any attention to each other come to the others defense when it is attacked by another dog or animal. Bear is a guardian dog and thinks that way. He may snap at a playful puppy but I am pretty sure he did not hurt him. I think you are projecting way too much and not looking at the evidence.
It was a raccoon; NOT Bear. If you go back and look at that video where a raccoon (that you and Houston caught in a trap) attacked Bear. You’ll see the raccoon went for Bear’s face and front lower part of his body, and latched on to Bear good around the mouth before Bella came to Bears rescue. Same injury pattern as Earl has now. Raccoon!!
I’m going to believe that big brother Bear came to little brother Earl’s rescue during an attack by an animal such as a raccoon. Earl may not have wanted to go outside there at the end of the video but he did not seem terrified of Bear.
@@rameypmstar right, the poodle needs a new home where he is inside and only outside to play with the humans. They shouldn't have a poodle. He was absolutely in shock and asking for help. The family failed him. Total ignorance about dogs
I'm with many of the others here, I think Bear was trying to protect Earl from some OTHER animal who was attacking him. I have no idea what, it could be anything from a raccoon to a wildcat, but I don't think Bear would harm an animal he knew belongs on the farm. His job is to PROTECT the animals on the farm. But you'll know for sure when Earl comes back, just by watching how he interacts with Bear. If he's afraid of Bear, he MAY have been the culprit, but if he's NOT afraid of him, then I SERIOUSLY doubt that Bear was at fault.
I just love Earl and his sweet personality..Gemma is cute too..Love how you pamper those fur animals.. We just had our cat neutered ,now our problems have been solved. Lol .I hope Earl gets through this really soon..God Bless.
I'm still thinking raccoon first! Bear shaking could be a little in shock of witnessing the trauma or also trying to defend Earl! We live right in middle of our city! We had a raccoon kill our cat, we had a necropsy done because we thought it was a bebe gun! We had a raccoon grab our Yorkie by tail/back end, the screech she made, I was afraid she was dead! Mind you, this was in our fenced in back yard! She shook all evening! She was scared for awhile, even to go outside! We have had multiple incidences with raccoons! No food, garden, or anything to attract them, except small animals, rabbit, cats, dogs! We had a friend, same city, have her small dog out on a tie-out chain, went around corner of house, attacked by raccoon and killed, in just a few minutes! She heard the first couple screeches and that was it! That was alot of lacerations and bites for a first incident poss with bear! I'm so glad you aren't getting rid of Bear and are having him neutered! Also, when Earl was at doorway and bear came up, she didn't back up and act scared, they greeted each other, and after bear walked away, no way was Earl going outside! Just a few things to think about! God bless you all, including all the farm animals!
Awww! Praying for Earl to heal soon! Bear seems sorry! ❤ Bear maybe helped Earl fight off the raccoon, and they both got hurt. Earl and Bear are the cutest!
I agree with the Vet. Sounds like a raccoon got Earl and Bear chased it off after it got him a couple of times. Earl would have acted more terrified when the door was opened and Bear was there, but he didn't. He wasn't afraid at all of Bear. Bear acted concerned as to how Earl was. No aggression at all.
Exactly what i was thinking. I had 2 male dogs that got into a fight like that before with each other and after they wouldnt go anywhere near each other, im deff thinking a coon or smaller animal got earl and bear came in to help and probably grabbed the animal off earl and thats how bear got bit. But ill be keeping earl in my prayers to recover quickly.
I think getting Bear fixed is the right call, especially if you are planning to bring in a female for breeding. However I really do think you should consider that it might really not be Bear. Yes he had blood on him but that could of been both from him jumping in on a fight to also be from him trying to check on or comfort Earl. When a dog is hurt, other dogs will usually try to lick or inspect the wounds in their own attempts to help. Considering that Bear only has minor injuries at best, it is more likely that he got the blood from helping or brushing up on Earl. Earl may not be as big of a dog but it is very hard to believe that he wouldn't have ripped a good bit on Bear, beyond just punctures, in a fight for his life. Also his behavior a lot of people are seeing as guilt is more attuned to a dog seeking comfort. His buddy possibly got attacked and really badly hurt before being taken away. Poor Bear was more likely looking to you for comfort and assurance that all is ok. It really does sound and look like the vet is likely right that some animal attacked Earl.
Not a bully , nature. Bear is a great dog. I see how dj feels but it is a big farm . And bear has earned the right to be there. His protection of your children alone from coyotes or pigs. Maybe the Little Red Dog Earl should be Mama's inside dog. Surely there can be room for both dogs there at the farm get them both fixed.
I would agree with the vet’s assessment. Bear might be upsetand feels guilty that he did not protect Earl well enough. However, it would be wise to follow the precautions suggested (and get Bear neutered as planned) just in case the dogs did fight each other. I’m sure you are keeping a close eye on Bear’s wounds, watching for infection. Prayers for Earl’s recovery and hope he does not have any lasting emotional effects from the incident.🙏🙏🙏
That’s not how dogs think. Bear attacked earl. It’s a dominance thing. Both un neutered pooches, boys, they fight. And this story fallows the escalation pattern he was witnessing. Bear attacked earl. After the family got home he realized he fucked ip hence the whimpering snd rolling over. If you have had multiple dogs this is common.
@@countpicula We had 2 females, Saint Bernard & Dashhound. They were best of buds. St. Bernard ripped open our dashhounds chest. She lived.. lost soooo much blood, but we were there so we had control of slowing down the profuse bleeding. They had some type of disagreement?
It's not often that I am unhappy with one of your vids, but this one, I definitely am. Whether Bear attacked Earl or not, it is common sense not to have two entire male dogs in one household. I am very pleased that you are neutering Bear. Hopefully, his hormones will calm down quickly, although this can sometimes take around 8 weeks. Sending Earl lots of love and wishing him a speedy recovery.
The pup isn't old enough to ideally neuter. You want them to be done growing before you get rid of those hormones. Having 2 intact males is possible (I breed GSPs and have 3 unaltered males). Resource guarding can be any age, gender, breed, etc etc. If you wanna see a brawl, two females will absolutely trump males in the same sex aggression category. There's absolutely a lethal intention when 2 females get after it.
You can be the best dog behaviorist in the world and still have 2 intact males fight. That's just how their testosterone works. 2 unneutered male dogs will ALWAYS fight. It may not be the first time they meet or the first month but it will happen. This is how dogs keep from interbreeding with each other and keep their species healthy. In a situation where you're not trying to create the most evolutionarily resilient animal it is completely inappropriate to keep them both intact and with access to each other. I'm pretty sure it wasn't bear who attacked him but they both should be sterilized for everyone's safety including their own.
I'm upset, bcs, why would they leave them outside if they were gonna be gone for several hours. Especially a small dog like him. It's only common sense to keep your dog inside when your gonna be gone for several hours. Plus, why ITH, are you hear making a video and asking him if he's alright. When you should be at the vet with him? UNBELIEVABLE!
Too bad but Bear is getting all of the blame! We've had many breeds and sizes of dogs and the little yorkie males were usually the fight starters. Just because earl came out worse doesn't mean that Bear started the fight over a food bowl. Only they know for sure!
Exactly! Most little dogs are the trouble makers.. Earl the non-working dog needs the neuter, not Bear. Bear has a job to do and he needs his balls to do it.
@@Deninex I feel sorry for Bear whether he's the instigator or not. The little cute fluffy dog has entered Bear's territory after several years of being the big bad animal watch dog and now Bear is potentially being cast aside for doing what comes naturally to a dominant male. They just need to keep them apart imho. We had a male yorkie get his head chomped one time because I foolishly set a bowl of egg on the kitchen floor with several dogs in the house. For months this little stud had been first to the food bowls and would scare the chocolate lab female pup away. This time she had learned the lesson that he taught her and decided that she was bigger than he. Painful lesson for the little guy. I'm sorry that Earl is so badly injured for sure!
I'm glad to see Earl is doing fine. However, Bear knows English and is wondering: Bear: "What happened to being innocent until proven guilty? Why do you have to cut my b*lls off?" 😢
Yes Daniel I have to believe that it was a raccoon. From the start of the vidieo I said it had to be a raccoon . Bear was acting a little guilty, because Earl got hurt on his watch. Bears canines are very large and I would think that with the amount of wounds on earl that he probably would have ripped skin away and broken bones. I’ve seen dogs that have fought coons, and let me tell you those coons can inflict horrible damage on a dog. I’m sticking on bears side. I think he came in late in Earls defense and did what you have him for “ protection “. Anyway that’s my two cents on this Sulphur Oklahoma canine mystery…..BEAR for President! …..poor Earl.
I agree 100%. Bear came to Earl's defense while a raccoon was ripping his chest open. Bear saved Earl from worse damage and possibly saved his life. A few years ago a bobcat nearly killed my neighbor's Jack Russell Terrior right in his own backyard. The little dog had just gone out to potty and the bobcat attacked. If my neighbor hadn't been inside and heard the fight and ran off the bobcat, the vet said her dog would have died.
Nah that ain't know raccoon. I've seen what a raccoon does to a dog and I've seen what kind of damage a dog does ain't know raccoon nearly snatching a dogs lower teeth out like that they don't have the jaw power. Plus a dogs bite on another dog looks like little patches knocked out of a dog's fur and deep gashes dogs teeth aren't meant for slashing like you think so there just pulling out large chunks of flush like your thinking they can but you don't even see that much in a pitbull fight that happens more with people than dogs if anything it's going to give him big deep gashes depending on how long the fight was and since we don't know how long the fight actually was he more than likely didn't fight him very long for what damage he did do and you aren't going to see broken bones if he wasn't going for the legs or if they weren't fighting very long. Your just trying to take up for bear If bear did it it's best to face the facts and something needs to be done about it either make it where they don't have contact with each other or maybe get one or both of them fixed. It was either bear or another dog. If bear has small scars and blood on him that means he was fighting. If bear got a hold of a coon that would be one dead coon because bear could take a coon easy and with a coon fight you'd find hair patches on the ground that's a very clear sign of a coon fight because they have long hair and when a dog fights a coon it comes out in patches I would know my dog has killed multiple coons and my barn cat has fought a few coons as well. Plus like he said it started off as little bites guess what happens if the dog isn't corrected properly the dog after a while will full on attack the other dog regardless if they they live together and have been friendly to each other.
I’m with the group that says Bear helped Earl. My bro had the same type of dog. He would have killed Earl if he “got that aggressive”. Would not shock me if Earl ran into a raccoon and got attacked and Bear came to his defense. Give him some credit. He has not a mean bone in his body
@@lynettehartung8862 And that is why it couldn't have been Bear that attacked Earl. Based on his experience, if Bear had of been the one to attack Earl there would not have been enough left of Earl or the time for him to crawl under the porch.
I would keep Earl in the house when you go anywhere. Now this is what I would do, you may choose to do something else. I am a member of an AKC club, and doodles are not purebred. The hormones should have done their job by now, so neutering Earl would be my first option. If you need any advice, well I did give you some already, but I am here to help if you want it. Earl will heal and he will live a long life.
A raccoon sounds like a real good possibility, especially when you have dog food out and it's close to winter. Now I think that you should still get bear fixed and settle him down a little bit. It might save your chairs and tires a little more. Plus, it seems like even if this wasn't Bear, that this type of thing was only a matter of time. His reaction to Bear wasn't so strong that it seemed like he was afraid of Bear but it's a possibility. When I saw the wounds on Earl after the vet I was thinking that it really didn't look like a big animal got Earl. A large dog like Bear would have gotten the head and back more. Plus large dogs don't have sharp teeth. They cause a lot of traumatic injuries that you can't really see. A raccoon on the other hand has sharp teeth and can cause a ton of damage to the skin. Either way I think it's smart to get Bear fixed and Earl will make a full recovery. I can really see a raccoon being the culprit at this time though. Feel better Earl ❤
@@tentamalaska you would be surprised at how strong raccoons are. besides bear would have a hard time getting to the chest of earl, he would have bit earl on the back of the neck and done a lot more damage. on top of that it could have also been a coyote
And even if the vet said it was a raccoon I’ve seen some pretty gnarly dog bites and some that should have been way worse then they actually were. So even if a vet says “it could have been a smaller animal” bear could have just been mad and didn’t mean to do massive damage. If it was a snap over food the legs/face/chest are the first places you’d expect to see dog bites and they don’t always try to kill another dog over their food or do massive damage even tho earl was hurt it could have obviously been wayyyyy worse.
@@tentamalaska I have raised a number of racoon babies when I was young and they can do a lot of damage to a dog even when they grow up with said dogs. Earl is a young dog who has had little fear on the farm so far. A young dog who could or could not have had his permanent teeth.(don't know only they do) But the real fact is it is all water under the bridge. They feel that for the safety of all the animals that it is best to have Bear fixed as they have no plan to breed him ever, and because they love him and hope that it will help in the long run to protect all the dogs. The ugly truth before the world wide web and in my youth a bad dog was taken out to the wood and shoot no matter how much of a family member it was. Raccoon, Bear or a Goat the Arms family are the owners and made the chose to have Bear fixed.
Good evening to Arms Family Homestead and all others too. I'm glad you did find him, i hope everything is ok. To much love to let go, Bear probably got injured from saving Earl from another dog or maybe coyote.
Earl's reaction to seeing Bear again speaks volumes, that wasn't typical of a dog meeting up with one that got the better of him. His head wasn't down and he showed no fear. One vote for "Free Bear".
That was my thought too. I think that if Bear hurt Earl, he would have ran from the patio door when Bear moved toward it. To me, it looked as if Bear was trying to check on his little friend. I know there are numerous cameras around there, did anything show in them? I was thinking maybe a coyote grabbed Earl and Bear got after it and it ran off.
Doesn't explain the damage to Earls teeth. That's weird, Bear would have not just snapped him with no other injuries to his mouth. I agree with the vet the cuts don't look to have been from a big dog. Something got up close and slashed Earl. My money is on a coon.
You’ve never seen good aggression. It’s not about killing. It’s about biting to get the other dog to back off so you can eat first. If no one backs down it’s s lot of snapping at the face beck legs. Raccoons have claws and leave king multi claw marks. Small, congested bits as the have smaller teeth. Not punctures. That docile nature earl was showing is submissiveness. If he was attacked by a raccoon he wouldn’t be submissive. That’s his way of insuring bear knows he’s not in the fight.
It can happen when you have 2 male intacked dogs! I used to breed Yorkies and had just bought another male to breed with my female and he did not like one of my other breeding males, they had a couple fights, they would bite and not let go just like a Pit bull. My boys were only 4 1/2 lbs & 6 lbs. the last fight I was trying to get my 6 lb boy to let go and he got a hold of my index finger, it hurt so bad I actually tried to pull my finger out and did more damage! It got infected and I ended up in the hospital for 2 days so they could fill me up with antibiotics! After that incident, I rehomed the 4 1/2 lb boy and now I don’t breed anymore and ALL my Yorkies (8) are fixed. So glad Earl will be ok!
I’m not convinced Bear did this to Earl. I’d be looking for a raccoon too! I’d give Bear the benefit of the doubt but I’d get Bear fixed too. But I’ve dealt with raccoons before and that’s my thoughts. Get well Earl!! Sweet boys..
We have an intact Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix and he’s huge and three times he has gone after our smaller male yellow lab (neutered) and savaged his neck. We never leave them together anymore when we’re not home. They really do not like each other and growl often. We love them both so we’re keeping them both.
Daniel, first off if Bear did bite Earl I think the damage to Earl would of been more. Don't get me wrong it was bad enough. But Bear's jaws had the power to totally destroy Earls mouth. I really think your vet just might be right.
Sweet boy. I have 7 rescues and I have had too many doggo fights. Luckily nothing too bad. Lot of stitches and tubes and money but we are a happy pack. I refused to give up on any of them so I made it work. 4 fights and 3 years later - its good. I can tell you guys love ur pups :) Bears gonna need the snip haha
I understand the concern about Bear, and I think neutering is a great idea. The first thing I thought when I saw Earls teeth was racoon or possum. I had a smaller dog with the same injuries to her mouth and chest. My Rottweiler/Border collie cross had the same facial bites and leg bites. The fact that Earl was up under the porch also makes me think the racoon, or possum, ran under the porch and Earl followed it cornered it and that when the worst injuries occurred. Im relieved to hear all will heal, and I'm sorry your family had to deal with this. Best of luck. God bless.
I agree with Tamera. Bear may be the good guy who fought off another animal. The blood may be from another animal that Bear came to Earls rescue when he yelled out. I really don’t think he did it.
Hope so !
I agree so much
Raccoons can get vicious. Although, the raccoon is only protecting his own life at that point..
Earl's behaviour around Bear would be what I would look for.
He is such a good dog! No whining or growling when you touch or go near his wounds! God bless him and hope all goes well!
Praying for sweet Earl's full recovery.
That’s a stretch! Daniel knows his dogs!!
@@rodneyferris4089 Not so sure.
You're the first so far to back Daniel.
Poor Bear. He deserves better than a Dad taking sides while Bear is indeed the saviour.
May that racoon teach the Dad and Earl a good lesson some day.
Bear did it
Give Bear the benefit of the doubt :-( he was probably trying to help Earl who was attacked by a racoon. They are both so cute, and they are buddies.
I’m so glad Earl is OK! He is just so adorable!! Sending him love & hugs & hope he feels much better!!
Great point and If it was a raccoon, I hope Bear tore him up and put him in the smoker. Stupid racoon, hurting the little guy Earl.
If Earl went straight to his back in a submissive posture then yes the chest area would receive bites.
@@SagebrushRambles
if Earl whent on his back bear would stop.
Dogs bite the face of other dogs. Jesus.
Excellent comment! I, too, think Bear did not attack Earl
Just reposting this here as it failed to post on your latest video.
I've been watching your channel for over 2 years, haven't commented
before, and appreciate that you tell it like it is with your farm
animals. This has to include your working dog Bear. Like other viewers,
my first instinct with Bear being blamed was unhappiness and I thought
it was unfair. I've watched Bear grow up and he puts in a hard and
honest day's work every day. He was there first. It's his patch and his
territory. His gentle temperment with the kids is also incredible as
many working dogs I know are aloof and all business and only answer to
one alpha male human. But having Bear neutered is a gift for him and one
of the kindest things you can do. Neutered male dogs live longer, are
healthier, develop fewer cancers and tend not to get into as many bloody
scraps with other male dogs. One day, Bear will be an old boy and if he
charges into a fight with another male dog he'll really take damage and
suffer. Over the years, we've grown to see dogs as little humans or fur
babies. They aren't. They don't behave like children and have their own
instincts. We don't do animals any favour by pretending they are
humans. Having Bear fixed is a kindness both for him and for future
unwanted litters of his puppies. Who knows if Bear rally mauled your
house dog. But it's put the push on to get him fixed and that's at least
one positive outcome from a bad situation. You did right.
You are absolutely right! This comment needs to be higher.

How do you know that Bear didn’t SAVE Earl from a coyote? Bear may be the good guy here. Just putting that out there
Bear won’t have let coyote that close. But both males need to be nuetered to keep this from occurring again. If female is about to be in heat more fights will happen
Bear was totally guilty though Tamera.,, just saying
That's what I am thinking. Bear is good, remember that big he got?
@@138NastyNate my pit bull does EXACTLY what Bear did when I just say his name. He has ALWAYS been that way since a tiny puppy. That in no way is a sign of guilt.
Maybe it was a wild pig?!
I'm believing Bear fought off what ever animal attacked Earl ! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Even if Bear was feeling his oats I don't think he would go for the kill with his buddy.
Raccoon for sure.

I think so too
I agree with you 100%. Bear was defending Earl or trying to save him not kill him. Listen to the vet. Daniel you are do the best thing for Earl and Bear.
You are absolutely making the right decisions for the dogs. Prayers for speedy healing for them both.
Daniel, I understand the way you see it and that is one scenario, but my first thoughts were that a large male raccoon attacked Earl and Bear came in trying to get the coon off Earl. Inadvertently in this struggle, Bear may have mistakenly bit Earl while trying to get the coon.
I believe if it had been Bear the injuries would have been way worse on Earl. Bear has a really big mouth.
Bear is taking the blame for this because they failed to house Earl when they left, a d they want someone to blame. Bears going to get snipped to placate angry feelings, but what's going to happen is they find a big dead coon lying around afterwards?
You can see when bear went to greet earl at the door. He was wagging his tail and saying ‘man are you ok that was INTENSE the other night hey’
Awe, poor Earl..... prayers for a speedy recovery.....🙏🏽🙏🏽
Look to see how Earl acts towards Bear when you bring him home.
That dog fought fiercely for its life. I wouldn't leave him outside if I wasn't home or overnight. Glad he made it.
I can see that you do care for him. I wish you all well.
Great decision to have Bear neutered.
I'd start using your security camera's for the house that you showed us a while ago, poor Earl hope he makes a full recovery and I hope it wasn't Bear that attacked him I hope he was defending him from another animal.
i WOULD DEFFINATELY CHECK ALL VIDEO FROM AROUND THE HOUSE.
Raccoons are vicious and will attack for no reason.

Especially if they too were eating the dog food. Coons are very aggressive with food as well.
That’s what I thought when I saw the blood on Bear’s face.
I agree with you 100%. Bear is a big dog with a big mouth, Earl's injuries would have been way worse if Bear did it!!
Vets are very in tune with injuries sustained by racoons vs injuries sustained by dog fights. But heck, why blame a raccoon when someone has decided it was bear without proof. Emotional tantrum because a house dog was left outside and got seriously injured.
I'm so glad Earl is okay. They are both precious. I sure hope all goes well. Fingers crossed!
Or a couple of song dogs !
Poor baby boy. He's a beautiful boy. Glad you took him to the vet. If it was Bear, there'd be nothing left.
I would never leave a dog the size of Earl outside when I wasn’t home, for the reasons you just experienced. I don’t believe those injuries were caused by Bear.
I agree with you about not leaving that little baby outside when their gone… ever!!
Bear was framed, I tell you.
On a critter for some time. Bear could be a hero instead of a turd.
Bear attscked earl. Two unfixed dogs, food to fight over, territorially marking. It’s obvious bear attacked earl.
They aren't dog bites guarantee it. Seen too many dog fight puncture wounds when I worked at a veterinary hospital.
HAVE A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUR DOGS WHEN YOU ARE LEAVING THEM UNPROTECTED.....too sad.......
Aww earl looks soo sad. Breaks my heart. Give him lots of hugs prayers for his recovery
Poor Earl. I'm glad he's ok. My mom's dog got attacked by another dog and it was pretty bad but she recovered. I think Earl will be ok. Bless you all. Happy holidays to you and Earl. 💞🐕💞🎄🎁🎉
💯

@@badmoonryzin7251 I was referring to the fact that if the neuter didn't work that it was suggested he might not be able to stay. Again to reiterate BOTH dogs should be neutered. There is no need to breed dogs. There are thousands being killed in shelters everyday.

It's just Daniel kowtowing to RUclips drama request/demand.
My 80 lb dog kept attacking my Jack Russell (both were intact males), we got the big dog fixed & there hasn’t been another incident since. I hope this helps your fur family as much as it did mine.
Nope, Bear doesn't have any injuries that match the damage done to Earl's teeth... it was either a raccoon... or a smaller dog.

Definitely a dog run for awhile!
Absolutely. I'm also a professional dog trainer and agree
Yep. It's Dan's fault for letting things slide.
Excellent advice! I agree 110%
I agree with you completely.
Bear has a Big mouth. I believe if it had been Bear the damage would have been so much worse than it was.
I agree with you he wouldn’t make it if it was bear.
Poor Earl & Bear 💞🐕💞🐕 Hope they heal up fast and feel better soon.
Oh, I felt so bad for Earl the morning after his attack...he looked so bewildered by what happened. Good job taking care of him.
Daniel,
I think the raccoon is what happened and Bear protected his buddy. I think Earl hid under the deck because the raccoon was out for the food in their bowls.
Question, do you think neutering Bear will decrease his ability to protect the animals as he should?
A raccoon was my first thought when Daniel said Earl had been attacked especially since there has been other raccoon attacks before over dog food
GO BEAR!!!!
Nope bear did it
Poor guy! 😢 Hope he heals soon
I had two intact Yorkshire males, when they fought the aggressor always hung his head because he knew better!
Are you a K9 attorney or a Dog Whisperer\SHRINK?
I'd kill a thousand dogs before I hurt my child.
No comparison. Not equal.
Dogs are just stupid they forget what they did or what they someone’s done to it. It will get over it. It’s a dog .
Earl, we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Hope you feel 100% soon.
I don't think Bear bit him. Earl's tail was wagging when he was at the door. Both dogs looked happy to see each other as well.
I think it was a raccoon, and Bear tried to save Earl. Hope he gets better soon.
And raccoons come out at nite when this happened. Would Bear be shaking like that if he wasn't scared? You never raised your voice but I could see him quivering. If you want Bear pups, save his sperm.
Yep my thoughts too! Raccoons
Nope.
Aw, poor baby. I hope he heals quickly and starts feeling better.
Agreed! Also bear was whining at Earl he did not look aggressive, nor did Earl hide behind his Mamma. Wish they could talk
I don’t think Bear did it I agree with the gentleman so good been in cooler something you need to do some more checking in your woods
I think there was a raccoon involved. They will attempt to kill dogs and cats if they feel threatened. Raccoons can be downright mean. Check out how they behave when they are together.
Bear is there to protect all the animals that's the only reason they have him
See how Earl reacts around Bear next meeting of the two. That will tell you all you need to know.
He was definitely fighting for his life! I am praying for his recovery ❤️🩹 ❤️🩹❤️🩹🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Poor baby!! I’m so happy he is going to be okay!
Earl is so sweet, he's happy to be with you, He knows you will protect him, I'm sorry Earl, hugs.
They didnt protect him. They left a small docile dog outside. This was preventable stupidity
@@pinschrunner; Earl acted like he was afraid to pass Bear, the poor baby had three teeth just hanging on, and bear acted guilty just as Daniel said.
I feel so bad for Earl and I hope he's okay and comes home to be with the family. He is a beautiful dog and a very loving dog.
I just love Earl and his sweet personality..Gemma is cute too..Love how you pamper those fur animals.. We just had our cat neutered ,now our problems have been solved. Lol .I hope Earl gets through this really soon..God Bless.
Prayers for sweet Earl’s healing and for y’all’s peace. It’s hard to have a sick or hurt pet. Hang in there.
My thoughts exactly!
Yup
Exactly what i was thinking. I had 2 male dogs that got into a fight like that before with each other and after they wouldnt go anywhere near each other, im deff thinking a coon or smaller animal got earl and bear came in to help and probably grabbed the animal off earl and thats how bear got bit. But ill be keeping earl in my prayers to recover quickly.
Look that way to me to.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL THE ARMS FAMILY!
I was thinking the same thing. Thank you for saying it. Guilty feeling for not protecting Earl better. He was shaking also.
Raccoons are viscous.
Hi......Daniel, thank you for showing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🌱🏡🎥👍👍👍
No I can't believe Bear did this.
Don't leave Earl out when no ones is at home.
Earl is a golden doodle and needs to stay near the house.
However, Bear knows English and is wondering:
Bear: "What happened to being innocent until proven guilty? Why do you have to cut my b*lls off?" 😢
Thats why he was licking them( GOOD BYE BOYS.)
My wife also loves our Goldendoodle. We love him and our 4 other dogs.
Glad that Earl is going to be OK. I feel sorry for the both of them.
So glad Earl is ok. Recovery will take time & Daniel needs to be loving on him 😊
Glad Earl is doing OK. I am thinking a raccoon got Earl and Bear tried to help him. 🎄💖🎄
I think that both your male dogs should be fixed. I am glad that your baby is going to be alright.
I’m with the group that says Bear helped Earl. My bro had the same type of dog. He would have killed Earl if he “got that aggressive”. Would not shock me if Earl ran into a raccoon and got attacked and Bear came to his defense. Give him some credit. He has not a mean bone in his body
Agree that it wasn't Bear!
So if he rips a coyote apart protecting goats.... im pretty sure he is mean AF!
@@lynettehartung8862 And that is why it couldn't have been Bear that attacked Earl. Based on his experience, if Bear had of been the one to attack Earl there would not have been enough left of Earl or the time for him to crawl under the porch.
Poor baby. Such a sweet face. Am glad he is on the mend.
No chance a racoon could dislodge 3 teeth in Earl's lower jaw......
@@tentamalaska you would be surprised at how strong raccoons are. besides bear would have a hard time getting to the chest of earl, he would have bit earl on the back of the neck and done a lot more damage. on top of that it could have also been a coyote
See what URLs reactions to beer you'll tell you
And even if the vet said it was a raccoon I’ve seen some pretty gnarly dog bites and some that should have been way worse then they actually were.
Why leave a dog his size outside when you not home knowing there are other animals out there
Aww. Earl is too cute 🥰
Poor Earl..I guess little dogs should be kept safe in the house when away from home...glad he's ok
Ooooh!! I love Earl! He is so sweet, but they are so resilient. He is still so young. He learned a valuable lesson.
Hope he gets better. Prayers for him. Keep an eye on him no more left behinds may not get another chance
I was thinking maybe a coyote grabbed Earl and Bear got after it and it ran off.
i dunno what video you where watching but that was fear 100%
Ya looks Earl is hurting and just didn't want to get bumped by bigger dog but better safe than sorry and not let them alone.

I AM 100% SURE THAT BEAR WAS HELPING EARL , DUE TO THE VIDEO OF THEM MEETING AFTER THE INCIDENT, NO FEAR .
Poor Earl he looks sad. Give him lots of hugs. My dog was attacked by a Rottweiler snd it was bad. I know how bad they can feel. Hugs to Earl.
Yea I agree
Aw, sorry this happened. Best wishes for Earl's speedy recovery.

Poor Earl! I’m so glad you got him to the vet and fixed. Love y’all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Daniel, first off if Bear did bite Earl I think the damage to Earl would of been more.
Things can change in a second, Spud got in a fight and lost a eye last year, everyone is saying poor Earl, heck I say poor ole Bear come Friday
God bless.
Hard decision for you. But you are being careful. Hugs for Earl and Bear. Bless you all.
