  • In this video Martin uses an Alder log, cut down by Beavers, to carve a beautiful spoon in the Ancient Caledonian Pine Forest. Immersed in the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands you can watch the whole process of carving a finished spoon from a log using greenwood tools such as Axes, Sloyd carving knives & Scorps before finishing by burnishing & oiling. Carving is thirsty work & Martin makes a luxurious coffee to warm his cockles in this relaxing video.

Dang... Makes my carving look like a potato waffle that got stuck in the toaster. Very nice Martin 👍

Excellent carving, thank you for taking the time to show us your skills. I have some carving blades, I'm yet to try them out :)

Thank you & it is a pleasure. If you have the tools you should definitely set aside some time to try them out. You won't regret it. Anytime spent crafting is time spent relaxing & detaching from the stresses of modern life. I love it.

Nice work and so good to see someone carve alder. I have had the good fortune to do so a number of times and really do enjoy it. Works well wet and still manageable when it has dried out a bit. This and your kohlrosing video have made me a subscriber - now to explore your other videos. Cheers from Canada!

Sorry... I can't watch a video and listen to tuneless jangling at the same time.
