About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. What strikes me is when Billy @Perma Pastures Farm said that their abundance allows them to be a" blessing to other people and then to ourselves". You don't hear selflessness like that very often. And he's joyful. That's what giving does to ones soul. Very inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and sharing this message. Very cool.

You ALWAYS bring it with your videos. But, today was extra special! Loved a new youtuber to watch like you guys. Also, don't you just love the barter and trade thing. I love it. It means way more than money to me. I don't have chickens. But, me and my egg man trade things all the time. Plant starts, sunflower seeds, old produce that I can't use....all this stuff is great for him or his chickens and I GET EGGS! Recently, in this canning jar and lid shortage....I went to pick up my eggs and he gave me two cases of pint jars...some had usable lids....for NOTHING. Barter and trade is REAL. Paper money...not so much sometimes. Today's video...I just smiled the whole way through. The gasp of delight from the honey from Lorraine was awesome! Honey is GOLD!!

Even with semi desert areas it's all about how much of that rainfall you can capture and get to infiltrate... Listen to anything you can get your hands on by Gabe Brown of North Dakota via you tube or his book Dirt to Soil his area gets 18 inches of annual precip so a lot drier than western NC

I’d like an entire cabin guest room wall with wooden mountains. I have a wall with too many open spaces between logs. I can see sunlight peaking in ☺️ But I’m in Cherokee, too far😞
