Love the video!!! Glad you are always finding ways to make it into the keys! Those tarpons are massive fun fish, always wanted to catch one but they always escape at the last second! Great video!!!
Rich, you're a Beast brother! excellent footage, and I felt every one of those jumps and I hurt when you lost. thanks for taking the time to document your fishcapades for us!! tight lines bro!!!!
Great video, man those tarpon were big… They were doing to you whatever they wanted. So cool. More to come. Great adventure, thanks for bringing us along…… Cheers
Rich is the best fishing youtuber without a doupt this men is a beast at what he does 🎉🎉🎉deft my fav..am here laying down with my baby son watching rich catch dinasour from a kayak 😂🤣 btw is 99 degrees in miami right now is very hot 🔥🥵
That was awesome Rich! Don’t worry about that second tarpon, it was super windy and the current was ripping good. 1 for 2 on a kayak under those conditions is pretty amazing in my opinion.
When you finally landed that fish I was happy for you dude! I know you cut a lot of that fight out of the video. Some dicey moments there! Good stuff bro!
Hope you dont mind transplants coming from CO… cause ypur videos have single handedly convinced me to start selling all my mountain gear and am heading down to Melbourne in 1.5 yrs
Awesome fish and landing job. I would have been a little nervous getting in the water to land, surprised you didn't run into any sharks, good thing for that.
Hey brother, sorry about your truck yesterday at sandpit, I was the guy with the small black truck, I wish there was more I could’ve done to save it. This is just a bump in the road brother, you handled yourself well in the situation. Keep on keepin on brother and continue making that great content for us, we enjoy and appreciate you Rich! Tight lines!
When I was younger, my mother thought my hemostats attached to my fishing gear were being used for something else when I was on the water. 30-40 years later I still don't thinks she's convinced.
I am enjoying the video you uploaded and thank you. If I could give you one piece of advice, it would definitely be helpful if you could post the specs of the equipment you're using on the right or left side of the screen.
Really interested in the hook and mold you used to make the jig. I also make my own jigs a have a problem with hooks opening on larger striper. Any help with what you use would be appreciated.
@@FishguyVR10 if you can take a trip to boca grande around may-late June. You’ll hook into nothing smaller than 100 pounds. Live crab / mullet / or threadfins guarantee you’ll catch em if you can get on a pod
I was going to ask if bowing to the king was still a thing, and as if on queue , I see you do it. Do you make it to Sebastian inlet often? I haven’t seen all your videos, so maybe so. I’ve jumped endless tarpon from the south side jetty rocks, over the railing. Big schools of tarpon show up and start breaking gear. What are your thoughts on the 40# + rule for taking tarpon out of the water? I fish from the beach and it’s a challenge in the high tide trough when it’s rough. I understand FWC doesn’t want any more big tarpon hanging from a boga just for a pic.
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I did try my best to bow to the fish. I always do. You can see at the start of the video me sticking my arms out as the fish jumps. When you are sitting in a kayak you can only bow so much and so far. Maybe if I was a professional gymnast I could bow with the rod past my ankles hahahaha. But since I'm not that flexible again if you rewatch the whole fight in this video. I didn't bow on the first jump because I didn't know it was a Tarpon. But once I did. Then all the other jumps I push my arms out as it jumps and lands back in the water. Yes I have lost Tarpon though even after doing everything right. That is Tarpon fishing haha. I've had Tarpon on for 25 to 30 min and went through all the jumps still hooked and the hook still pulls out underwater. Even with a perfectly good hook. I think bigger Tarpon over 50/60" if you can you should get in the water with it if you want a picture with it. But if not just release it healthy. But the law says anything over 40" you shouldn't remove from the water and I respect that especially if the person has never held one. A wild Tarpon can shake right out of your hands land on a rock and bam its dead. Unfortunately I do not fish Sebastian that much from land. Only on occasion from the kayak or boat. I have fished there many times when I first started fishing Florida but I'm not a fan of fishing around a lot of people when I know I can go find fish all to myself. Tight Lines out there, stay safe, and catch a some biggins!
The second tarpon is making me wandering what really happened. The leader looks like having a few inches frayed. Is that correct? If so it doesn’t make sense. It was a new leader. Do you believe that fighting too hard wouldn’t frail it?
Thanks so much!!! I was pumped for awhile after this catch!! I tried again the next day but only jumped two smaller ones. Then caught loads of bait for the next day which will be the next keys episode 🎥 😎
Rich, withe the success of your channel, you mean to tell me that you couldn’t reach out to hobie and ask for a discount on a new kayak? I mean you had that for sometime i’m sure you could use a new one like a 360 one and you could get sponsored by them. Seems like every-time you turn around your fixing something on it. Just saying
Dude! It’s hard enough landing a big tarpon from a skiff with a guide - but solo from a kayak? Mad skills.
And managing cameras and microphones at the same time. A master of his craft.
Sweet tarpon!! Appreciate you taking us along!! Thanks, Rich!!!
Nothing better than keys kayak fishing videos

The mulligan + dr.juice (from SaltStrong) = deadly combo.

Hey Rich, great content
Daiwa is the best reel manufacturer out there. Closely followed by Shimano.
Nice fish bro

Nice Fish Rich ! Was she about 60" ????? Right on Brother

Nice! And your life jacket didn’t blow up this time lol
@ 18:00 what was that stone you used to sharpen the hook?
SquidTrex are nice but a pricey lure, seem to be worth it though

What's the name of those Jig Heads...some good hooks. That Tarpon was magnificent.
Really interested in the hook and mold you used to make the jig. I also make my own jigs a have a problem with hooks opening on larger striper. Any help with what you use would be appreciated.
That was a huge tarpon
Honestly being a Floridian who’s caught a ton of tarpon. It was small/average. Under 50/60 pounds. But super badass to catch on kayak.
@@garrettsondgerath9877 well I’m also a Floridian but my biggest tarpon was about 20 pounds

I saw a comment that daiwa makes the best reels . I like pflueger products . They last a while.
try trolling paralell to the bridge sometime, see what happens

When are you gunna go back up north ????
Rất tuyệt vời
Why is current important for getting more bites ?
What brand is the kayak your using?
Nice was that the biggest tarpon you ever caught
Do you use a specific type of fishing pants?
Hey there these are the pants I’m wearing

Thanks so much!!! I was pumped for awhile after this catch!! I tried again the next day but only jumped two smaller ones. Then caught loads of bait for the next day which will be the next keys episode 🎥 😎
What Key is this? I usually am pretty good at figuring out bridges in the keys on google earth, but this one has me stumped.
What brand and model kayak are you in ?
so the first tarpon you caught was your biggest then?
Sheesh I came in third this time
What’s your best guess on size of that first Tarpon?
