More videos please. I enjoyed watching this. I’ve been in “art something or other” since 1980. I started with oil painting lessons, then water colored a while. I joined the Society of Decorative Painters in 1990 and went to their conventions and became a teacher. I did that at my huge dining room every week for about two years. I then moved to Dallas to take a job. I was sad that I wasn’t into art. I decided to make cards as videos that teach how to make them are all over the internet. I was not warned as to how Much I would spend on die cutting and cards stock and stamps. But the joy it gave me was worth every dime. I am 70 now, live alone in a senior complex and love my apartment. The LR is my craft room. The master BR is a den where the TV and sofa are. My bed is in the other bedroom. I don’t sleep there. Instead of using wax paper with intricate dies, you can repurpose the wax-like sheet that remains when sheets of postage stamps are removed. Works great.
Thanks for all the great tips!!! I have an easier time getting my plates through my machine if I layer them staggered; I pull the top plate towards me a little bit. Then my 'sandwich' isn't hitting the tension rollers all at once! 🤗
I'm pretty new to both stamping and die cutting (and embossing) and this was GREAT info for me. Especially my favorite = using dryer sheet or wax paper. Biggest, best, time saver for me. Thanks for the entire video. Loved it.
A lot of great helpful tips Sharon! With that last tip where you cut 1st and then stamped. Have you tried cutting the image with the die, then fitting the stamp into the hole left by the die. Most of the stamps will slot right in exactly where they fit..Then pick up the stamp with the stamparatus lid. Then replace the piece that needs to be stamped into the hole, ink & stamp. It's almost the same as what you did but only uses one piece of card stock, & is just a bit quicker. It also saves a ton of time if your stamping multiples of the same thing for swaps, or Christmas cards etc
I just got my die/emboss machine and these tips will really help!! Flipping the plates, the dryer sheet, the pad under the tiny words as you remove adhesive backing, the lint roller...all great!!
Good tips so thank you. I have a little tip for you since you have trouble die cutting when the machine gets to the die. Try laying the die at an angle. If there is not a large "edge" that hits the roller plates all at once, it's easier to get the cutting started.
I am glad you enjoyed the tips. I think I should have had a little step stool so that the cutting on the video didn't look so hard! I do like your tip too! Thank you!

I like the idea of using a sponge dauber to put glue on back of little die-cut pieces, I was using a glue stick which sometimes ripped the piece or a glue bottle which put too much glue on and oozed out everywhere.
Have you tried microdot tape runners, they only go on the back of the Die where they touch. All you do is dab them carefully where needed, pick up and place on your card. No messy glue, no dried up glue bottles, no spillage, no accidents with the glue going onto the front of your Die. Magic!!!

Great video! If you use tongs to hold your project in a toaster oven for 10 seconds or less close to the heat bulb, You will get much better results. Your rise will be higher on your card. In Printers language you are NOT embossing, you are thermographing. thermograph is using heat and ground plastic. Embossing is pushing the paper from behind with dies to make the image.
I am new to all of this and I have to say, I enjoyed your video very much, love to hear you laugh, wonderful explanation of all the techniques. thank you!
Great ideas. Maybe on the snowflake, you turned it upside down to get the embossing? So cut paper, then die with cut side up, then clear cutting plate? Maybe.

I had heard of the dryer sheets but I don’t use them so the waxed paper, is super.! Thanks for that idea. The Shem for thinner dies are awesome, and embossing with a die. I will have to wait and see. I do not have a Stampin Up… machine, I have a different stamp group what is no longer.. however I have an Ellison.
I am glad that I could teach you some new things to help you with die cutting. Each die cutting machine is different. Shims can help when the pressure of the rolls changes!

You can emboss with dies using a rubber embossing mat. place die down on machine cutting side up, put piece of paper/cardstock over die, and lay rubber embossing mat over top, then run through you machine. Depending on your machine, you will use differrent plates to do this.

In place of the 2nd base plate (die cutting shim??), try substituting shims, as needed, made from $🌳 cutting sheets, or card stock layers?, plus - AND THIS IS THE POINT - a sheet of VINYL layered against EACH of your cutting plates with your die and card stock placed between them. This sandwich allows the die to cut cleaner through card stock as there is less resistance. There’s the added bonus in that your sandwich doesn’t have to be SO tightly compressed for the die to work, A N D, less compression means your plates won’t warp as readily and the vinyl will take the brunt of cutting, leaving the plates less likely to mar metallic card stock. (JoAnn’s has w i d e clear vinyl by nearly any portion of a yard) BTW, I canNOT take credit for this idea as a very nice gal (SO sorry, dear Lady! I cannot remember your name!!) has shared this fabulous intuitive information in a youtube, AND has also researched a special vinyl she’s selling for this purpose.

I really enjoyed your video. Even though I am a somewhat seasoned card maker, I did learn a couple of new tricks. Just goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks for taking the time to make this tip video. I greatly appreciated it.

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts! Never thought about it but it is Thermographing!
I am new to all of this and I have to say, I enjoyed your video very much, love to hear you laugh, wonderful explanation of all the techniques. thank you!
Welcome aboard! I’m so glad it was helpful for you!
I did the card stock shim with the succulent die...bonus was I got a nice embossing on the shim piece.
That's awesome! A great fun result!
Great ideas. Maybe on the snowflake, you turned it upside down to get the embossing? So cut paper, then die with cut side up, then clear cutting plate? Maybe.
Maybe, not sure what the difference was. So glad you enjoyed the ideas!
I just found you today. Thank you for these tips. A little hint for embossing if machine needs it add a thin piece of material 😉❤️

I cut my DSP cardboard into 6x6 squares and use them as shims for my old and well used die cut machine. Great tips btw. I love the “boo boo”. Beautiful!

Tfs. These were so helpful, I will be using these great ideas. Thanks Sharon.

Awesome! GREAT ideas! have gotten frustrated with the detailed dies!
Thank you! I hope my tips helps you with your detailed dies!
?? 13:46 you mentioned that the new dryer sheet would leave a residue. Does the wax paper leave a residue? Wonderful tips, thank you. And I can hardly wait to get my new Gina K Intri-cut machine, it looks like it has bicycle gearing, easy rolling, and A Dial To Set The Pressure. The 2 years ago you didn’t have that, but the today you might😉.
So glad you enjoyed this video
The wax paper can leave a trace of residue but it’s not bad. Our Die cutting machine is not like GinaK’s
@@TxStampinSharonHi, thank you for answering my question. I had not understood that was your machine, so my comment about the other machine was thoughtless, I’m sorry. I know everybody in this business works very hard to bring their best to us. Thank you.
No worries at all@@Denise11Schultz I am not upset one bit. I hope that my video was helpful to you!
*This whole video Rocks!!! Thank you So Very Much. Question:. What do you thing about having a plat form with Velcro on both the Flat form as well as the machine to help it stay in place better? I have a Side kick that locks in place. I don't understand how all don't make them like that. Saving this video to refer to. I love tricks found by mistakes. I recently did one & was over the moon happy!!! Blessings and keep the Fun in All you do. 😁😁😁* Sharon in SC
So very happy that this video was so helpful!!! The velcro idea is good that would keep it in place better. I wish they all locked too! Happy accidents are so fun! I love sharing and I am glad that you found me! Welcome to my channel!

You can emboss with dies using a rubber embossing mat. place die down on machine cutting side up, put piece of paper/cardstock over die, and lay rubber embossing mat over top, then run through you machine. Depending on your machine, you will use differrent plates to do this.
We used to have a rubber embossing mat but since I don't sell it anymore I didn't share that tip. Thank you for sharing!

Loved the tiddle tip. Those buggers fly everywhere and are so easy to lose.
They sure do! Glad this was helpful!
Thanks for the tip!
sparks additional ideas
I am so glad!

If you run the die threw on an angle , you do not have a problem running threw . No speed bump . Runs much smoother .
Thank you for the tip!
These tips are great tha k you for sharing

Great tips😊 Question: your magnet in your stamping platfotm - did you wrap it in washi tape? How’d you do that?
I used Colorful Duct Tape to prevent the magnets from breaking. I left a “tail” on the end so that I could pick them up easier too.
Thanks for sharing. I especially liked how you partial die cut the tree!
You are very welcome! Glad you enjoyed that tip!

Hi Sharon,
I'm watching the replay. But when you embossed the snowflake? I really like the way it came out with a "deeper" embossed look. I still have my old machine, so I'll have to try it w/both machines. Thank you for these tips.
So glad you enjoyed that. I hope you do give it a try!
