    Never had a car detailed, never owned anything worth doing this to, my efforts go more into regular servicing and maintenance and intensive rustproofing.
    Have always cleaned my own cars, never used a hand car wash.
    However, impressive work there fellers, always a pleasure seeing people taking a pride in doing their job well.
    Obviously your work isn't cheap and nor should it be, buying cheap usually ends up having to buy twice.

    I have a 5.5 year old from brand new Jaguar XJ Autobiography - metallic black. Never ever ever through any car wash - automatic or 'by hand' - result the lacquer is crystal clear - no marring, no scratching, no hazing. Only washed by me by hand. Most, including approved car dealerships have no idea how to wash a car with care.

    You did a great job detailing the car, however the car is not fit for purpose if you have to get an expensive detail as hand washing "destroys" it. So obviously the 4WD Defender never goes off road? What happens if a bird sh!ts on it - replaced under warranty? Perhaps best just kept in a glass case to keep the dust off.

    • @NewlookdetailingUk
      @NewlookdetailingUk  Год назад +5

      Hey There! The car is still fit for purpose however the owner wants to take care of the car and have the car looking brand new after every wash. With a ceramic coating you will get this as long as you maintain safely washing the car which the owner usally does.
      Bird sh!ts will find it much more difficult to etch into the paintwork with a coating so as long as the owner removes it as safely as possible it will not damage the paintwork.
      Thanks

    This is why I was my car by my own hands. I first rinse off the top dirt with a hose and spray gun then was the car with a super soft brush and tons of fresh running water. I only ever dry the car with very soft micro fibre clothes which are washed every single time. I have always done this with all my cars and you will not see one scratch or swirl mark anywhere. I also had the car coated before it left the factory, and I also coated it too. Dirt just simply washes off. I never use any chemical cleaners, not even car shampoo, so there is nothing to damage then paint surface or thr coating thats on top of it. I will not even let the dealers wash my car even hand wash. My last car I sold last year was 5 years old, I had it from new done 70000 with it, used it in snow, ice, been through dirt and mud and when I sold it the body work looked like new. The dealer could not believe just how perfect condition it was in. If you have a brand new car either get it coated or coat it yourself and then wash it yourself like said above and you will never have any marks on it.

      Hi Andrew!
      Apologies we didn't fully explain the damage that hand car washes can do, we might have to do a seperate video showcasing the full reasons behind why you shouldn't use them.
      Essentially the harsh chemicals that your standard hand car washes use are very acidic and will likely damage any sealants you may have on your vehicle. Their wash techniques aren't safe at all for your paintwork as a lot of them don't change their water, mitts, chemicals which cause all sorts of imperfections.
      Stay tuned to the channel as we might end up releasing a full video on this!
      Thanks,

    Check the insides of brake discs if you’ve been using a Hand Car Wash!
    I had an old car cleaned once a week and over the space of six months they ruined all 4 discs, I presume by using Brick Acid instead of proper wheel cleaner. Outsides of the discs and pads were perfect but the insides were completely knackered, looked like the surface of the moon, pads also disintegrated on insides. They obviously didn’t spend enough time rinsing it off thoroughly.

    • @MyGuyKirby
      @MyGuyKirby Год назад +1

      Odd, if they used anything it would have not been sprayed on the inner/rear side of the rotor. It would be quite unusual to be able to spray unless wheels were off. But stranger things have happened

    • @TheMuddatrucker
      @TheMuddatrucker Год назад

      @@MyGuyKirby I don’t think it’s massive amounts that have reached that area, I just think the run off from the initial spray has run down the back and then never been rinsed back off properly like the fronts so over time the acid had not only eaten into the discs but made the inner pads crumble too.
      I’m not saying you can’t clean wheels with an acid cleaner but you got to rinse it off pretty sharpish afterwards.
      Edit….. forgot to mention I’ve actually seen the bottles of brick acid piled up at a wash I used in the past, makes sense as a 5litre bottle is less than a tenner (when I last bought some), far cheaper and stronger than any wheel cleaner I know

Works every time

    • @NewlookdetailingUk
      @NewlookdetailingUk  Год назад

      Hi Catherine! During the winter months you will not need to clay bar the car as the ceramic coatings will be doing their job of protecting the paintwork and reducing the amount of dirt and grime that can stick to your car. You wouldn’t want to clay bar over the paintwork as this will cause marring which puts you back to square one where you will need to polish the car.

    • @moffatt43
      @moffatt43 Год назад +1

      I’m guessing but I don’t think you wouldn’t get much change out of £600.
      That was a pretty intense detail/stage 3 polish/ceramic coating including the Wheels.
      I paid £350 and that was for a Stage 3 polish with a in-depth detail inside and out and that was a couple of Years ago !.
      Don’t forget for that sort of Job your Car is going to need to have to Stay in the Workshop for a day or two to ensure that the Ceramic Coating has Cured,don’t be lulled into these detailers who say they can do it on your driveway ( unless they use a big tent ) over your vehicle and it will only take them a few hours !!!.
      That Stage 3 polishing is for minor defects like light swirling/hazing and very minor scratches.
      If they say it’s going to need Stage 2 or Stage 1 you can say goodbye to your Car for a Week and of course the Cost is going to go up ⬆️.
      It all depends on what sort of damage the car wash has done and how many times it has been through the Hand Car washes !.
      I use the 2 bucket method but you have to decontaminate the paintwork from Road and brake debris and then use a Clay Bar. It takes me about 3 hours to do the outside and then a hour to do the inside.
      I don’t have ceramic coating on mine but I do use a good quality Wax and then polish 🤷‍♂️.

      Hi Andrew, we’re surprised a lot of people are taking this stance. It has nothing to do with the car getting dirty as it regularly does and thanks to coatings it’s a breeze to get looking new again. On this occasion he used a hand car wash with poor wash techniques which caused damage to the paintwork hence needing a detail again.

Maybe everyone should get their tires cleaned professionally by these guys everyday. The private schooling of their kids won’t pay by themselves.

    So, having wasted a shed load of money getting your overpriced car ceramic coated, you're tied into the high-price car cleaning industry to get it cleaned for ever more. No thanks. I used to get my SVR cleaned by O2 in Birmingham's Bullring underground car park - they did an excellent job each time, and I even had them clay-bar treat it on one occasion which gave it an excellent clean. However, at over £100 a pop, I wasn't going to get this done every week, so it spent most of its time either dirty, or getting cleaned at a local, reputable but cheap hand car wash. The next time I took it to O2, on inspecting it when I got home, there were large areas in panel gap areas where no attempt had been made to clean off the initial dirt, so it will never be going back there again. I cannot help noticing that you showed the damage to the Defender without explaining exactly what the damage was, so I'm assuming it's the scratches showing up under the intense local light source. However, these were clearly done by a rotary polisher, and I've never seen a hand car wash use one of those. And how come you didn't re-inspect the surface after you had used a rotary polisher on it? Either that, or explain why using a hand car wash on a ceramic coated car is problematic.

    • @NewlookdetailingUk
      @NewlookdetailingUk  Год назад

      Hi there Simon, appreciate the comment! With a ceramic coating you are not tied into any high end washing service. It’s all about informing the customer on the correct ways to maintain their coated car. We offer all our customers to watch us safely wash their car so they can see how to correctly do it and if they don’t want to we offer maintenance services or even recommend local mobile valeter for them.
      Apologies for not showing the paintwork after the correction but you can see from the reflections that the paintwork is spotless. The damage caused wasn’t from a rotary machine, it was caused by poor wash techniques at the local hand car wash.
