Welcome to the LONNGGG Club how LONNGGG are ya? *note* Ya I've been sick for a bit and it threw the entire last week off in uploads and recording, I'll hopefully return to normal (voice) within a couple of days but I'm slowly getting back in the groove since I only delay archiving my sick voice for so long lol
Oh no, not a deeper voice, whatever shall we do OOO. 😅
Make sure you rest alright man
idk bout u man but im pretty LONNGGG idk bout u
Get well soon
I didn't know you were into Warhammer? Favorite Legion, Chapter, and faction?
>Appears out of nowhere
>recites the entire Ozymandias poem to a complete stranger without them even asking
>refuses to elaborate
>leaves
Honestly, based
Poetry spirit is all 'Nuff said, bye'
@@purplecat4977as a poet, you are correct 😂
THE POETRY EXAM, MY MIND IS SHATTERING
I was thinking the same thing lmao
Based on what?
"my voice will be a little bit deeper"
*Turns volume all the way up*
Petition to get Manly to sing some Barry White while getting over a cold.
real
Glad we're all like minded here :)
you get meeeee
Ikr? It's very soothing
Beksinski is probably the only artist I know that can make me scared of the colour blue.
Then you've never seen Gunther von Hagens work. It's amazing how the man isn't in jail.
@@munguschungus4030 I wouldn't really call Body Worlds an art piece so much as an anatomy lesson? The only thing that got me was the plasticized chickens though idk.
Gunther looks like he'd do weird shit
The color blue is reminiscent of cyanide in this case
That sounds like a challenge.
The funny ragdoll at the end is there for a reason. Notice, that your character takes its own brain out and puts it into the giant. When the giant disappears, both your brain and lifeless body just fall to the ground. That's where the praying creature comes into play - it put your brain back into your body.
Interesting detail i totally missed.
DAMN IT. Nice eyes, friend, I didn't even notice this.
@@QueenCousland But of course you didn't... ☕ 🗿
@@death08468 Excuse me? Do you know something about me that I don't? Are you my neurologist or psychiatrist?
@@QueenCousland Nope, they're just the many armed creature that put your brain back in after it fell out while you were watching the video.
3:50 You know, I appreciate this. You see this huge imposing figure stride towards you, and you brace yourself for a fight, or something horrible to happen, but no. They quote poetry by Percy Bysshe Shelley to you and then peace out. It's a really thoughtful way to begin a game.
I agree! And the voice actor did awesome with it
He certainly had a sneer of cold command.
that'd probably be the only highlight to being stuck in Limbo
The horror is literally beyond human comprehension that you just feel confused by it lmao
it broke my immersion imo wuoting a very famous poem from the real world
I like how this takes more direct inspiration from Beksinski than Scorn. The use of blue is a particularly nice touch.
Scorn leaned more toward H.R. Giger's work. The Medium featured Beksinki inspo, though!
it's prussian blue. a beautifully vibrant pigment with a very dark history. there's a reason it's so prevalent in beksiński's works, although he would argue otherwise.
@@ItsYaBoiV Oh I didn't even clock it in The Medium but you're right!!
I had the same thought! Sure you're playing inside the meat in Scorn, but this feels way more visceral somehow.
I've been thinking about just how much of an impact Beksiński's has had on all forms of Polish art recently- nice timing.
The man is THE nightmare surrealist artist frfr RIP
He grew up in prl he had the same view in real
The praying guy in the end put your brain back into your body.
Since there wasn't one in the titan, you had to use your own, but when it disappeared you had no way of getting it back.
Like all of those other ones, you were - for a moment - a brain just laying there, with no way of interacting with anything.
I found it interesting that despite the overall foreboding atmosphere of the demo, there's a lot of emphasis on helping or at least "completing" other creatures, and that's reciprocated by other characters giving you information or clearing obstacles, or by the praying figure giving you back your brain. There's no violence or combat, you're just figuring out how to navigate this bewildering situation and in so doing help some others with things they need. That's kinda deep.
The Ozymandias poem is actually a real poem - it's a nice tie in.
So is William Blakes poem. Yet nobody mentioned it
@@TheMasterwitcher people probably didn't recognize it
The Blake poem was also referenced in the original Tomb Raider movie. Dunno what this bit of info adds to the conversation but figured I'd throw it in there 😂
@@MrCreepus yeah it was there as well
@@MrCreepusit was also quoted by V in devil may cry 5!
This felt less of a game and more like a play where the audience is both the listener and the moving force of the play.
Kinda like an old point and click game, but more slow and somber.
Scorn like
@@levimcgillis6339 Is that going to end up being a new game genre now?
Something an art gallery would have as an experience if they confirmed games as art. Imagine that, a gallery of artistic games.
It's a pity for me. It looks cool, but with such basic puzzles it ends up being like a walking sim. 😕
@@cartooncritique6625 scorn was a walking Sim with half decent puzzles and terrible combat. I hope there will be more games like it because it was a nice proof of concept.
Edit: also just thought of this but the *Spoiler* at the end when you body swap would have been more interesting than the previous bit about goo baby batterys
What a haunting demo. No cheap scares needed, it's just such a powerful art style. I think the "poetic" dialogue works perfectly, it's almost an anchor to normality in this strange, uninviting world. I am absolutely interested in seeing the full game.
No cheaap scares, except for the irritated beetle. lol
the fun thing about Zdzisław Beksiński is that his art was never supposed to be surrealistic or anything, that's just a realistic depiction of Poland. so this game is also just what living in Poland is like, and yea. it's accurate
Poland look scary as HELL now 😭😭
The opposite is true actually
Beksinski said that they had no meaning, but they were based on his dream
And at one point that they were meant to be seen as hopeful
People have tried to argue that they must be based on his experience of growing up in Poland, but Beksinski had always denied that was the case
He actually got quite annoyed that people were insistent that that must be the case
@@angrybidoof847 those are not dreams those are nightmares 😰😭
@@nappydotjar
It's a demons to some, angels to others situation tbf
Explain to me how any of this imagery relates to Poland in the slightest? Damn people will say anything for internet clout.
every paused camera moment feels like it's own artwork, DAMN this game is weirdly detailed
i love the atmosphere, Scorn but with more of that Indie feel to it
I like how the cosmic cape guy floats away as he recites the poem, his subtitles vanish, and Manly stands there and stares at him for a few seconds and then is like "Oh I'm supposed to follow him okay"
Honestly? really dig this style of horror. the environment builds a nice sense of despair and loneliness without going into "spooky" territory
It feels a little like Midsommar: Horror during daylight.
I love the little lovecraft quote that was snuck in there, "with strange aeons, even death may die"
@5:38
“…Haha! Yeah, ain’t that the truth. Well see you around man.”
it's like being approached by a stranger at a bus stop
I read that in Morty's voice for some reason
Something about how almost sticky the effects are just fit SO well. It’s so good.
This game is made by Greek studio Dragonis games who also did the Lovecraft game the Shore!
They deserve small studios the recognition and especially as a Greek myself i am proud of them❤
Reminds me of Scorn which drew inspiration from Beksinki and HG Giger
"Scorn" was what I immediately thought of too.
This is like the Scorn we have at home
@@bigmike-it's still pretty good I'd say, maybe with enough more time in the oven it's gonna look a bit more polished
I agree , its got its own charm, and color scheme. Its hard not to be reminiscent in such a styalized artform.. very cool stuff. @@kaxcommentssomethingREAL
About the only Giger thing was the "cannon" that looked like the Space Jockey's pilot chair from "Alien".
ISTG this is the friendliest and most educated group of people online. The amount of people who immediately knew the artist and the poem is just outstanding. Thanks for being awesome yall! ❤
This is absolutely beautiful, I'm fond of the poetry. All the time in existence has passed and something distinctively human remains.
I have never been so excited for something in my life, I'm not even going to watch this video right now because I'm so, SO desperate to play this. This guy was my favorite artist since I was a kid, that virtual reality art exhibit that had of some of his works was legitimately one of my fondest memories.
In hoc signo vinces!
You and me. FANCLUB. I also REALLY need to play this RIGHT NOW
also a big fan, have a few canvas replicas of his paintings.
same
Same here, one of my dreams is to visit the museum in Sanok.
Poland is on my top country to visit. My favourite artists are all from there.
I feel like Zdislav Belsinski is a difficult art style to follow in a video game, but this one hits the nail on the head pretty well... The mix of telling and showing gives a nice surrealist feeling, and the messy organic sound effects and designs lend it a nice dose of body horror too. They did a great job on this, and I thought the brightness of most of the game contrasted really nicely with the moments of darkness, and gave the impression of a desert wasteland, unlike Scorn, which seemed more like a swampy, decaying morass... Very stylish!
inspired by Beksinski's art and begins with quoting Blake's poetry
What an amazing combo
I am so happy that someone made a game based on Beksiński's art. I am a Pole and I interpreted one of his paintings in class. Glad to see more Polish artists being recognized :))
_"Matter is the clock that makes infinity real"_
In this wold, time doesn't exist. It's like the end of time, where even Death is dead and only the essence of old gods live on. I was interested in the story, caught right away by Shelley's Ozymandias. The art is gorgeous nightmare fuel. the solutions for the puzzles seemed a bit random -knowing which brain went in which skull, but it worked. And the puzzles themselves were very unique.
I hope the story continues in the full game. Your voice didn't detract - it ironically matched the somber tone of the game perfectly.
The symbols for which brain went where was on the shoulders of the other two. You can see it briefly in the video.
@@Pheonix1328 Ah thank you. I wasn't looking on the shoulders! :)
Finally Zdzislaw Beksinski is getting acknowledgement instead of constantly getting overshadowed by Giger
you love to see it
I hope the developer makes a full length version as it looks rather fascinating.
This game is just the Chaos perspective in 40k
I dont know about that there seems to be a severe lack of bolters, specifically the muzzle ends. FOR THE EMPEROR!
A S T A R T E S
it looks a lot closer to the imperium or maybe just a forgeworld imo
I think Chaos leans more to Despair and Carnal Desire. Yet this leans more too Lifeless yet Hopefull, even in the tiniest flicker of life remains in the world that almost turn to dust. Life and Hope still prevail.
The place is too peaceful to belong to chaos.
Definitely in the same vein of style as Agony but less demonic, Scorn but less Alien and hateful, and any H.R. Geiger art piece. Its unique, gives me almost an etheral worship of a dying world of a deathless divine vibe. Like the art of Gustav Klimt almost. Especially the ones that he used gold flake on. I can almost hear slow haunting gregoian chants being changed in the background
The squishy crunchy noises of this game are both satisfying and horrid.
Annoying*
24:32 is so unintentionally funny to me. Like, "oh shit, you want me to follow you for this, sorry."
It was hilarious because for my playthrough I waited until he said "I beckon you…" to follow, so from an outside perspective it seemed like this tense moment where the character hesitates, but ultimately chooses to follow.
Here he even has the comedic beat where he looks back at the angel like "I am…I am supposed to be following him?"
Easiest to pronounce Polish name.
Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz 💀
More like so well known that people actually learn how to say it :D

Hey Manly! I just wanted to say, I love your work. I've been watching for acouple years now and never get bored. I usually draw and listen to you. Anyways, keep up a great work!
Man, I love Scorn-likes, my favorite genre of like two games (that I know of). Glad that Beksinski's getting more love these days, too.
I've been watching manly's content for about five or six years now, and I've never commented; I just think it's awesome how much consideration he's always had for his audience, even when it was quite a large amount smaller ^^
Seems like a lovely place to go and spend holiday at.
To me, Lovecraft and Chambers are what cosmic horror can be narrated as, but Beksiński is what cosmic horror looks like.
idk anything abt the original artstyle but wow. this game was so detailed.... i loveee the atmosphere! the sound design is very well fitting
Stunning visuals! That landscape at 9:00 and 19:00 and onwards reminds me a bit of what the original RUclips edit of Astartes had at the very ending.
Do really appreciate the inclusion of the T shaped crosses as not only were they prevalent in Beskinski's work, one was used for his grave when he passed
Beksinski is easily one of, if not my favorite artist and this game nailed the style of his paintings.
Ah, a lot of this game is quotes about things I've noticed. Or maybe not a lot, but, still. I recognised the "With strange aeons, even death may die" lovecraft quote. ANd the obvious Ozymandias one at the start, "Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
(dont know how i typo'd "death" as "Day", but hey.)
Dropped everything I was doing when I saw this upload, the art is so hauntingly beautiful
MY FAVORITE ARTISTTTTTT!!! GAH!! I LOVE THIS GUYS SO MUCH!! IVE WRITTEN PAPERS ABOUT HIM!!
I HIGHLY encourage people to look up his name and scroll the through his wikiart page!!
I'm too hyped! I CANT WATCH THIS! I NEED TO PLAY ITTTTT
This is awesome, it's so grotesque and weird, less of a game, and more like an interactive art piece.
I'm glad it's a demo cause we def need more.
Love to see more recognition for beksinski, he was an amazing artist and a really kind human being.
i really like the vibe of this interactable museum
I had to search up who Zdzislaw Beksinski was & it turns out he’s a Poland artist who makes surreal creep art. Honestly that’s cool!
I'm not sure what I like the best, the dialogue, the story or the setting. Because I think it is all really great and feels like a epic condensed into a short game.
Major Scorn vibes for sure.
Scorn has major Beksinski vibes, you mean ;)
The dollar store version of Scorn.
We have Scorn at home.
@@clarenceoveur9497 Why the need to attack the game? Do you feel good when you put other people down, you loser?
Besides, Beksinski came first, I bet he inspired Scorn. Scorn is the copy.
This is Beksenski, Scorn is H.R. Giger
I'm sitting here with a hearing loss induced/and stress related headache. MY head is on fire and feels like a jackhammer but I just cannot sleep...this might be the last video I watch from Manly for awhile considering I may lose my power very soon. Being jobless and unable to find a job is a horrendous feeling. Makes you get all jumbled up inside and in my case at least sometimes I wish I could just go back in time...things were easier and I still had time to fix things. And then I could rewatch the last near decade of Manly videos here on RUclips...even if I somehow had chased my dreams or had a stupid busy career I think I would have still found the time to watch Manly. So yeah thanks for being here Manly, thanks for choosing this as your life. I Hope you are happy with your path and anyone else who is watching you. Glad you're feeling better too.
all these years as a fan and I finally learn how his name is pronounced..
Hope you havent learned that from Manly. His pronunciation of beksinski's name is quite bad
*Cold has increased manly-badassness by 50%*
Manlyyy, pound back the liquids. We hope you feel better!
Your sick voice sounds even more manly and badass.
Oh my God, I was hoping someone would make a game like this for so long!!! I love his artworks, and this was so well done!
I can't wait to see the full game! Thanks for playing this manly!
What an amazing work of art. I love Beksinskis red color technique and some of his paintings are mesmerizing. Also thank you for the videos even when you are sick. :/ It makes me sad when I hear the voice that I listen to daily while working get Nurgled.
Omg i love beksinki's art and manly this i like a dream come true
I wouldn't worry too much about the voice change while sick, for some reason deeper voices like yours tend to not sound as bad compared to higher-pitched voices when affected by illness. You _might_ get some weird people who have a thing for deep voices for a little bit, but it's not something to stress over - take as much time as you need to recover and rest your throat
Beksinski has to be one ofy favorite artists. Just amazing imagery. It tears at the mind.
Really wish this one was longer.
Absolutely blown away with the art and concept of this game. If it helps Manly I really enjoyed your sick voice. Hope you’re feeling better tho! Rest up if you can, I think warm tea with honey helps for some folks soothe their throats
My all time favourite artist with a weird ass history (which I recommend everybody checks out), and I feel the game does a good job of capturing that essence in its own way
The art style is like the combination of Xenomorph and Scorn.
It's the other way around. This art style came decades before Scorn.
Well, Scorn is just "what if Beksinski and Giger were put in a studio apartment for a year and told to make art" tbf.
This reminds me of Tormentum Dark Sorrow. Which is not surprising since it has the same artistic influences. Still, quite a compelling watch.
god i love art
FOH REAL!!
The backdrop was done REALLY well, with the right amount of apparent parallax to really sell the scale of the space.
Reminds me of Scorn, which was also inspired by Beksinsku and Giger.
Well Agony was certainly a very horn- I mean interesting game
@@larsjongen721 Oops, I meant Scorn. I've fixed my original post. Gotta forgive me on that, Agony was being promoted at the same time and I was looking forward to both.
This game is nightmarishly horribly beautiful.

This was fantastic, I hope to see a full game soon, loved every bit of it. That unsettling, yet beautiful air to it, had me riveted.
Always excited when Manly posts a new video
Man i havent started watching this yet but i was chatting to my mum about your videos and wanted to figure out how long id been watching you. I remembered i started watching you when you played the strange man series and its been TEN YEARS. HOLY HELL 😊
Zdzislaw Beksinski 's art is really good Dark Surrealism. WikiArt has over 700 of his works.
Game inspired by my favourite visual artist opening with a line from my favourite poet. Biggest W. Gonna go support the dev rn

So it makes me happy to see people playin' it!
I playtest and translate these games (to Brazilian Portuguese) and even proofread 'em sometimes!
They are amazin'~🖤
Works more as an art piece, like an interactive movie, than as a game for me, but is certainly interesting. Take care, Manly, and thanks for always pushing through and finding new content, helping new developers and giving us options to view and to play
hope you feel better soon manly!! we love you!!
I love Beksinski Art and so many references its amazing
Beksinski and Scorn have such a niche and grotesque art style that is enjoyable to me for some reason. And I feel like I’m not the only one with this opinion either, but we’re most likely gonna see a lot more of these graphically fleshed horror games
I've always loved Beksinski's art.
Hope you feel better, Manly.
Wishlisted. This looks incredible! Thanks for the awesome vid!
With Beksinski being one of my favorite artists, this kind of imagery is just amazing to me. I can’t wait to see where this game goes!
Sheeeeeesh i love Beksinski art so much i gotta get my hands on this game, it is so beautifully made and the poetry is beautiful too
The environment was absolutely incredible! Feels like something so oddly familiar to watch. I hope this one gets finished and becomes a full game unlike many demos.
Reminds me of Scorn, has that same eerie vibe, and repulsive but amazing effects, sounds, and graphics.
Beksinsku is my favorite artist and I really appreciate games recently bringing more attention to his work.
i like the landscape/visual aesthetic in this game. its so far detached from human understanding. it has history, but not one that a human from Earth could understand. its alien and strange. i love it.
OMG BEKSINSKI IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTISTS LETS GOOOO
Yass, Beksiński is my fav painter!
This is how i imagine hell. Not a realm full of lava and fire.
Ahh! So happy Manly posted, I was just thinking about finding a video of his to watch
The VR would be next level for this game/art.
I never thought I'd saw one of my most watched RUclipsr's playing a game based off the work of my favorite artist
"So my voice is a lil bit deeper than what i used to"
Every gay person in Manly's area: 😍
By Knum, this game is beautiful! It's like somebody took my dreams and made them into a game. And yes, I do sometimes have dreams about apocalyptic wastelands and Nightmarish creatures, and they're sometimes beautifully surreal, yet more of an amalgamation of Clive Barker and Guillermo del toros works.
Two minutes of the game, and I'm already amazed by such smooth and as peaceful as death breathtaking music. Lovely and very relaxing, makes me want to sleep my most peaceful dream.
Even with the cold, you did great! Thank you, Manly, and get well soon!
