Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Banana Streusel Bread. For this Banana Bread we add a streusel topping made from chopped pecans and caramels which gives the bread a nice golden brown crisp crust and a sweet caramel flavor. A very special Banana Bread indeed.

For everyone who is interested: Streusel is actually pronounced "Shtroisel" and not "Stroosle". It's a German word meaning sprinkle(s).

Best greetings from Poland! I made this bread, although with walnuts instead. Pecans are very expensive in my country. It came out really great. I doubled the portion so my family could enjoy it for four days! I left cake on counter, covered with plastic foil and it remained soft till the last piece. Thanks! I love your recipes!

Hi, I made this bread twice... First time, I made this bread with my homemade spiced caramelized toasted walnuts... later I prepared this bread with pecans and homemade caramels with coffee flavor. Both time this bread tastes heavenly. Texture wise later one is slightly darker than the first one. For the later one...I introduced 1 tsp filter coffee decoction...Thank you so much for sharing...

I MADE THIS the other night, ciuoldnt wait for a taste, but did! its really delish but your warning re: the caramels was well taken, as 4 some reason my bread wasn't flat but rose on 1st side predominately, so separating it from the pan was a challenge! even after an overnite soaking, it was challenge keeping the pan all clean, but i think it was worth it, as its really yummy, so thx again 4 your excited state while making this bread!!

Wow what a delicious banana bread with a difference. Looks fantastic stephanie I love the idea of pecans and caramels. I have a question, can I substitute coconut oil for the butter in this recipe?
Just made this with minor changes because i didnt have the listed items. So I used Vegetable oil instead of butter and Walnuts and mini chocolate chips instead of Pecans and my daughter ate the whole loaf , Lol. Going in my recipe file.

I have tried many banana bread recipes and have never been happy with them. This was perfect. I used dark brown sugar and a handful of leftover salted roasted pecans. I didn’t have any soft caramels so drizzled over some homemade caramel sauce before baking. It came out wonderfully and I’m sure I will be baking this again soon! Thanks for the recipe 😊
Did you put it over the strudel or over the banana bread before the strudel
@@lindyannfarrier8463 I mixed some pecans in the banana bread batter and then sprinkle the rest on top with a generous drizzle of caramel sauce. I made a half recipe and it made one loaf.
I’m going to add a little extra mashed banana next time, and perhaps use a larger egg too as the banana bread could have used a little extra moisture. You could also try adding a couple of extra tbsp of soured cream. It’s a great cake served with butter/ jam though.

Hi Stephanie can you use tinned caramel sauce if you don’t have the caramels just asking thank you your recipes I make over and over they are so good to follow
I haven't tried that but it's worth a try.

you have a terrier, we had a fox terrier bought in Spain and she was bilingual and i loved her so much! when we returned to the USA, we then took her to Taiwan, our next move; after that we had to leave her with my in-laws and their brindel terrier, as we were in apts that didn't allow dogs, very sad day, but my in-laws loved her very much!!
