I have a couple of older shows that will always remind me of my Grandma as well. We use to watch 'Golden Girls' together back when new episodes were still on primetime. This is one of my all-time favorite TV themes - by the late, great Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, who also penned the memorable "Bonanza" theme and Christmas song "Silver Bells" from "The Lemon Drop Kid," among others. This song also sets a standard for proper conversation; I've known too many people who "yakety yak a streak and waste your time of day," so they should follow Mr. Ed's example: "never speak unless [you have] something to say." He sure has good horse sense! Thanks for posting this great song.

OMG! This is a great post! As a kid, the closing credits for strange reason used to scare the heck out of me! I guess cuz at the part when he says, " You never heard of a talking horse?... When I was little, i always wanted my dad to sing to me. Unfortunately he only knew my 5 songs. This was one. So I actually had this song memorized ever since I was maybe 7 years old but we didn’t have internet or RUclips and that show never showed when I was a kid so I literally got to hear this song for the first time maybe 5 years ago 😂 My version is just slightly different so it’s throwing me off.
