OH GOD THIS MOVIE! my grandma had this when i was a kid, i watched it and i was always like WTF? gram can i watch real cars? also why does the yellow car keep laughing when someone says "good morning"?
That voice acting. A scene that was clearly adlibbed from a father, daughter, and son, Julie sounds bored, speedy sounds like she's super high, and that freaking jeep sounds like a middle aged woman... think about it, it's like a middle aged woman manipulating a preteen.
This movie looks awful. At times the animation does look considerably better than "Little Cars" but the voice acting is much worse and probably some of the worst I've EVER heard.
Funny enough, during the mid-credits scene of Cars there is a skit called A Bug's Life featuring the characters of said Pixar movie portrayed as anthropomorphic cars, which is a re-enactment of the "Circus bugs!? How can you be circus bugs!?" scene from that movie. That skit alone is so much better than this garbage knock-off.
It looks like Michael Schelp really, really hates kids. And yeah, not sure if anyone saw it, but this has two sequels, but thankfully the two sequels are better than the first one. They're still bad, just a lot more tolerable, and they completely changed Speedy's voice and appearance.
Ironically Michael Schelp actually has 2 kids and they both appear in this movie his daughter voice is Gracie and his son voices one of the gas leeches
I think I've said enough about this movie in various other reviews but yes....this movie is awful. Awful characters, awful story, awful animation. Sparky is by far the worst protagonist I have ever witnessed in a supposed kids' movie and....and what more can I say? He's just an annoying little shit and I don't care if he lives or dies. Thooooooough, I will say this....the part where he sings to his little sisters? Of all the reason for his dad to get pissed, WHY THAT? He was just being nice to his little sister. Any parent would like that and of all the dumb-ass shit that Sparky does, THAT is the one thing that actually seems....nice? Makes him likable? I don't know, it just feels like its pushing it in order to make his father complain, despite the dad being the best character in this film.... Too bad they fuck him up in the next two movies.

FINALLY I FOUND THIS MOVIE! I remember seeing this when I was a kid on TV (yeah they actually aired this piece of crap on TV). Recently I've tried to fins this, and now I finally did. I have to admit this is sort of a guilty pleasure, but maybe that's just what nostalgia does to you.
I actually went out of my way to scour the charity shops of England to find this travesty of a movie. I actually had a fun tearing it apart whilst watching. To be honest, I quite like the mystery aesthetic of Piston's disappearance (even if the culprit is obvious) and the empty gloomy look of the badlands. And will someone please make that spinoff about Julia? She deserves it.
2:45 I just thought about it, why are tickets even a thing in this universe? If the cars are the humans of this universe, then wouldn't driving fast be considered running?

So is the gas station like a brothel or something...? I mean, the gas pumps have to stick the pump in the side of the cars and they're both evidently alive so what even is this? Can the gas pumps move around? Are they unwilling slaves?

I was just looking up that Jack and the Beanstalk anime film (the one the Nostalgia Critic looked at a while ago) and I found this out; the woman they got to voice Sparky in this and the other movies is the same woman who voiced Princess Margaret!

If I want to see an animated film about talking cars, I’ll stick with the Pixar Cars films. If I want to see a race car movie, I’ll stick with “The Love Bug”.
