    Just bought my first serious 4WD (Y61 Patrol) to hit the road with my photography gear and dogs. As a mature woman who's just a tiny bit nervous, I REALLY appreciate your reviews. Thank you SO much Steve.

    Hi Steve, an awesome totally unbiased review. I enjoyed it. I have found these to be a great application as you know I am an end user also! For many of us these are brilliant.
    For those serious loads a large ratchet is required.
    Swags, trailers, dirt bikes, wood etc. perfect!
    More than anything thank you for the kind words, thank you for paying full retail for these, not even coming to me. You didn’t even tell me you purchased- but I personally pack them and saw your name. I am humbled by the support. 🙏🏻

    My main takeaway - ratchet straps are way stronger than I thought. But thanks, when loading half-empty, crushable cardboard boxes, I’ll chuck an occy strap on the end of my motorbike tie-downs. Cheers

    Just did a 5000km road trip with 3 swags on the roof of the canopy. Drove the Ivanhoe to Menindee road, 190km dirt. Got into Menindee and noticed the 2 bags of fire wood missing. No harm. Then noticed the centre swag missing. Thankfully the road was not well used and we only had to back track 25km to a train crossing to find the swag. Sitting happily in the sitting across the centre of the road in the blind spot of the hump as you cross the train line.! Also found the firewood as well. I reckon these straps with the spring would have saved us. Will look into them more.

    Really could have used a set or 2 of them over the last fortnight while moving house. Trying to tie things down on my trailer with ratchet straps was a pain because one end would always fall off. Plus as you mentioned the tangles are a pain. Good idea with the spring to keep that tension on even if things shift.

      @@Australian4x4Adventures yeah true lol. I've seen them in videos before but never actually knew how they worked. Expensive but they look good especially for strapping things to the roof

  • @LockyourHubs4WDing
    @LockyourHubs4WDing 10 месяцев назад +6

    You can't beat mechanical advantage, I measured about 250kg of tension with a load cell on a 2500kg ratchet strap.
    Chocking the strap reduces the SWL by 20%, also those ends with gates are only a matter of time until they're stuffed, much better off with a hook and loop arrangement.
    The kinetic element is interesting though. My only concern is if it lets go under tension.
    Though, there's a reason none of that stuff is used in industry.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  10 месяцев назад +2

      For a commercial application I probably wouldn’t recommend them, I agree there.
      For the most part I think the tension they provide is adequate for 95% of applications they domestic use would throw at it.
