Murdock's (Sharlto Copley) crazy helicopter piloting saves the team from a barrage of missles.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director Joe Carnahan resurrects the popular 1980s-era action series with this explosive reboot following the adventures of four Iraq War veterans who begin a second career as mercenaries for hire. Col. John "Hannibal" Smith (Liam Neeson), Templeton "Face" Peck (Bradley Cooper), B.A. Baracus (Quinton "Rampage" Jackson), and H.M. "Howlin' Mad" Murdock (Sharlto Copley) are a group of former Special Forces operatives who have been fighting the good fight for eight years when they're sentenced to military prison for a crime they didn't commit. Breaking out with relative ease, they embark on a treacherous quest to clear their names while being hunted across the globe by Charissa Sosa (Jessica Biel), a high-ranking military officer and one of Face's many former lovers. Meanwhile, mysterious CIA operative Lynch (Patrick Wilson) offers tips that help point the federal fugitives in the right direction, which seems to lead straight to former military contractor Pike (Brian Bloom), who may have been responsible for setting them up in the first place. how the hell did this great movie not get a sequel?!!! the cast had serious chemistry together and everyone involved enjoyed the movie. I remember watching this in theaters and everyone was literally cheering and rocking the whole time, sooo fun.

I agree. I enjoyed it. Now, they maybe should have had some nice cameos of the living OG A-Team, that would have help bridge the fans of the series and new ones together. It's was another one of those 70-80's TV shows turned big budget movie and failed. Not everyone can be Tom Cruise and Mission Impossible.

@@dallasyap3064 based on the Berets theyre each 5th Special Forces Group. And Green Berets are tabbed for Airborne & Ranger as well as Ranger scrolled. But from it sounds like I’m the movie Murdock is only 75th referring to them as Airborne Rangers & the rest of them are Green Berets.
This movie is so absurdly unrealistic and insane.

It's pretty much a big budget looney tunes.
As unrealistic and insane as this movie was, everything that happened in it was actually plausible. Even the tank flying scene. Which is what made it so amazing.

@@flameofthephoenix788 The tank flying scene would probably not work, while you would get thrust, I think the tank has too much mass, and therefore inertia, to move very far. Also, if it actually did launch itself like that with every shot, the a-team would be at least smashed, maybe turned into goo.

Hahaha techincally you could doubt this working but the crazy idea of it: Thats exactly whad H.M. Murdock would do! (The engine wouldnt instantly cool off to 0 degrees, it'd still glow so the heat-seekers would still home in... But outside of that little itsy bitsy little detail, yes! Great creative thinking! Its a movie after all! Movies are to be entertaining, and this was entertaining!. The good old A-team-series was just as entertaining! I read on the trivia page that when John Singleton was originally going to direct this film, he had Mel Gibson in mind for the role of Hannibal,
I also read that this film had been in development in the 1990's, Clint Eastwood would've played Hannibal,
Imagine if there was a (2000/2006) movie adaptation with Michael Bay directing, I would've loved to see Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kurt Russell or Dennis Quaid as Hannibal
I never understood why people hate this movie. I thought it was awesome and had great cast.

There's a simple reply to people that do not appreciate this movie; ALPHA..... MIKE...... FOXTROOOOOOOOT....... in other words:
People probably hated it because it wasnt the original A-Team cast we all know from the series.
so my dad watched the A-Team back when they were a tv show. He said they never explained in the show why BA, an Airborne Ranger, was scared of flying. He liked that this movie showed why.

From what I've heard is that BA develops a fear of Flying after a ride in Murdock's Chopper.
I always had a theory regarding BA's fear of flying and Murdoch's general insanity as being related, they were in a helicopter crash together, BA suffered from aerophobia and Murdoch's guilt over what happened to BA caused him to snap mentally.
The CHEMISTRY of this cast was surreal --- they really capture the SPIRIT of the A Team. How in the world did this not get sequels???

Agreed, movies used to be about fun. Sadly, this was made in 2010, just about the time Hollywood figured out that they could push a woke agenda using movies to preach about crap most intelligent folks couldn't care less about. Thus, everything from about 2012 onward really isn't worth wasting your money on. Hollywood is all but dead.

That humour was good but if you try to imitate this scene in reality, it’ll go very wrong. This is because if you shut off the helicopter’s engine during a missile chase, there’s still heat from it and you’ll still get hit by the missiles.

They violated the autorotation principle.
the thing that is brilliant about this entire start of the film: it gets the team together, shows what their strength and functions are, shows you what their character is, establishes BA's fear of flying and is just a great action action scene.
this movie is criminally under-appreciated.
I don't know much about Helicopter engines or heat seeking missiles but I'm pretty sure that the engine doesn't automatically go "cold" as soon as you switch it off.

i think cold is being dramatic, its more so the loss of moment that saved em.
No to mention a heli doesn't just stop rotating, it takes time to slow down.
well flares are not as hot as the engine too and the missile probably over shot it self when the heli suddenly dive.

The general's face was so funny when Hannibal said over United States airspace. And the fighter jet destroyed the heli is awesome.
Neeson’s script for this film was basically “plan plan plan plan planplanplan plan plan” and he just ad-libbed some filler between plans.

The actor who originally played Murdoch is more crazy than the actor playing him in the 2010 film,
I loved him in District 9, Elysium and Chappie (but he was only the voice of the robot)

Actually dumb, since the engines would still be hot from an hour of continuous flight. Unless you have heat flares, and even then, it's practically useless.

l saw this in a theater and it was packed!! We all had a great time and everybody l know seemed to enjoy it.
I always laugh at this scene. Like engines go cold the moment you turn them off.
They don't go cold, cold. But they do get way colder and thus, change their heat signature.
Those type of missiles follow heat signatures not the "most hot thing ATM".
The missiles were still tracking them. However, the turn required was too sharp and they ran into each other before re-adjusting.
Well I liked it. And this is from someone who grew up watching and loving the original show

This scene never get old
I love in this movie world just shutting off a motor for a split second is enough to cool down a engine enough that heat seeking missiles go past it. That thing must have some excellent engine cooling on it because it works as a relative to the background. So that engine went from hot from combusting fuel to as cool as ambient temperature at whatever high off the ground they were in a instant.
It's just like Wile E. Coyote not falling down until he looks down to see there's nothing beneath him.
Not hot unless you touch it to confirm. Movie logic.
I thought of it as when he cut the engines, the helicopter dropped, and the missiles couldn't turn in time and collided with eat other.

Technically, it'd take a bit longer for a warmed up heli-engine to cool off, then júst shutting it down....Its not entirely impossible if he kept the radiatorpumps running at max output perhaps, but still a bit of a short window to realise... Meh, its a movie, the stunt was cool, and Murdock was a brilliant badass to pull it off.
It already 12 Years and still rewatch it like it was premier yesterday. Damn movie Action now days cant even keep up with remake from 80s.
Between this and flying the tank... epic movie. So fun.
