Timmy & James, whether it's a person in recovery,a community figure or highly educated professional - ye treat them all the same. How genuine and respectful ye both are to every single guest is very special.Great episode,Nick seems like a really caring G.P. Again James and Timmy,ye are a credit to your selves, to your families and a huge credit to Cork 👏👏👏
I hear Timmy on some sort of psychotherapy for all prisoners . . . . . Why not have a "programme" to teach prisoners how to integrate back into society?
Interesting that at a very young age Nick thought of being a Doctor and it was not in his background but he was interested and supported and told that it was great. The point on the lad whom said he needed Benzos because he was now stressed in the real world, could relate very much to same. Also similar to being left out of the Psych unit after a time. Community supports very much needed in this instance particularly supports from people whom are in recovery and staying well - Resources again?? (Vision For Change, comes to mind) I learn loads from these guys interesting point made by Nick, indeed at our core we are all the same. “Our birthright as human beings is to be happy, and the addict just wants to be a human being.” Gabor Mate
A lot was covered in this podcast A drug is a drug is a drug let it be street drugs or “legal drugs” it’s the thinking behind the use/dependency on the drug of choice that needs to be fixed. Alcohol in itself isn’t addictive as with drugs ,food ,sex, gambling and so on.. it’s the thinking behind it. The addictive behaviour is what we need to look at and the reasons behind that. A lot of bars are closing for good due to this covid let’s hope that it’s not the case that for every bar that closes a chemist opens. That can’t happen. Our mental health is first and foremost once we get that right everything else fall’s into place. There’s no quick fix, the commitment and the work has to be put in. We have to mind our minds. Think for ourselves build ourselves up.. stay healthy and strong mentally and physically , we’ll have a few wobblers here and there.. not a bother that’s ok too. Another mighty podcast Timmy & James 👏👏👏
Really interesting chat, interested to know how those in recovery deal with situations where in normal circumstances a person would be described Valium or the likes for an injury, say slipped disk, how will that affect recovery?
Was a bit worried when I saw the beginning, was afraid it was more feckin Covid shite! He sounds like an OK Doc, although personally I avoid them like the plague!!

Would be great for prisons to look into a programme to integrate prisoners back into society, prior to release.
