To everyone who wants to get that very first gig or first real job but is hesitant: there is no reason to wait any longer. You being here watching this video is proof you have made the decision. As a freshman at university i started doing volunteer copywriting right away to gain experience. One year later i landed my first job. I undersold myself so badly that it was the client who raised the price by themselves bc they felt so bad for me :-). I learnt that there is nothing more valuable than having a creative mindset, having that appetite for the next gig. So I kept emailing people all over the country with my ideas for articles and stories. Adrian is spot on: the vast majority of responses was negative but i kept going and going. And one day, one persone replied and invited me right away. For the next 3 years, they outsourced everything the needed to have written to me. There is no reason to wait any longer. Now open up your e-mail editor and get going. It will work!
Hi can you suggest sites for volunteering? Im still studying, havent completed my certification yet but maybe I could try just to get some experience. Also, do I need to specialise in a field or general translation jobs are also available. TIA. 🙏
You don't know how much I appreciate your sincerity and clear explanation. I am telling you this as a beginner in this industry. Greetings from Paraguay.
When you talked about translating the videos from your channel, I thought "that I can do!", but guess what? Another Brazilian had arrived first! 😅 My Lord, we just pop-up like gremlins! Just kidding, nice job, Gabriel! Adrian, I'm genuinely glad that I've found your YT channel! I'm absolutely sure it will be very helpful for many people, especially for me! Keep up the great job!
@@mauricioschuster1643 lol, so many Brazilians contacting me :D it's great, you guys seem to be very ambitious and willing to progress. I like it. There are still a bunch of videos that don't have Portuguese yet though, so if you still want to work on one, just send me an email. Address is in the description.
Hi Adrian: I would like to have your opinion. I have a degree in Foreign Languages at the University in Italy and I have improved my Japanese studying over there for two years. Then I came back to Italy and now I've been living in London for 16 years. Before looking for freelance translations (something I have already tried in the past) I wanted to get the C2 Cambridge certificate and the JPLT N2. What do you think even though I haven't got a Master in translation? Please don't forget that in the past I have done some translations especially from Japanese to Italian for my studies. I am watching your videos that I find really useful. And also, what about aging? What I mean is that aging shouldn't be an issue if you know the language and if you are constantly updated (esp about AI/Softwares and Tech). Thank you
Thank you for this video, Adrian. I'm so excited to explore this translation world. In addition to working as a translator, I feel like having the experience to teach English. In your opinion, do you think it's a good idea to work with both of these options?
An agency asked me about availability for the Christmas holidays, but I wasn't sure what they meant. I said I'm not available only in the 24th, 25th, the 31th and the 1th, but I'm not sure if that's what most translators do anyways
Sure, if you want to work during this time, go for it. Agencies need a lot of people jumping in during this time, so it can be a great way to find new clients. I will finish my working year tomorrow and then take 2 weeks off, that's also a strategy ;)
Where can I do online Translation course (program) to get Translation certificate? Thanks. Very much in love with your content. Just found this channel two days ago
I can add Arabic subtitles to your videos if you want. I'll do it for free! :D, I just want to have some achievement that I can add in my proposals to job offers

thanks so much :) your channel looks interesting as well! Maybe try the Open University, Coursera or Udemy. They usually have some courses.
I have a BA in German and Spanish Studies and I don't want to do a MA. Do you think a BA in languages is enough?
Yes, absolutely it's enough :)

@@Freelanceverse data entry or Transcription jobs
I'd try fiverr and freelancer for these jobs to begin with. The key is to not rely on these job sites in the future though.
