  • Hello stackers!! I've been collecting precious metals for just over four years now and this video shows it all together at once. This is an opportunity for me to reflect on the fruits of my labor over the past four years and see where I might want to focus my purchases in the coming years. As you can see I have no 'junk silver' in my collection only .925 - .9999 silver. It's difficult enough storing .999 silver, I can't imagine having a bunch of mixed metal coins to store as well. Also, almost all my precious metals are from government issued mints (coins) rather than generic 2nd parties (rounds). All of this is a long-term hold for me, part of my retirement savings. I won’t sell any of it until I retire, or I’m in a desperate financial situation, or a SHTF scenario. Citizens of the world -- Keep on stack'n!

      Small minded person would think that....what I am talking about is he has thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars on the table right there that he can sell whenever he wants...cash unfortunately equals freedom

    • @SoCalFreelance
      @SoCalFreelance  6 лет назад +6

      R, gold and silver have been a medium of exchange for thousands of years. Every fiat currency ever created has failed. Do a Google image search for "purchasing power of the dollar" The dollar just recently fell below 4% of its original purchasing power due to inflation. Inflation = theft. Precious metals are a hedge against inflation. I could bury my entire stack today and someone could dig it up 1,000 years from now and the value would remain (in fact it would be much more because of added numismatic value). Just as I could travel to Greece today and dig up a 2,000 year old Hellenistic era silver coin and someone would be willing to purchase it in the currency of the day. R, you need to do a lot more research on what a medium of exchange means. I'll be thinking of you when you're carrying around a wheelbarrel full of paper currency trying to buy a loaf of bread or when your digital currency du jour reaches its intrinsic value of zero.

    That's a really nice stack a lot of specimen value in a lot of pieces in that stack ... I remember when I started with just 10 oz and the sacrifice of doing without things to keep on stacking.. I know all about those sacrifices... I wish other stackers would talk about their sacrifices for their stack.. I walk into a grocery store I don't buy potato chips I don't have cable TV I do without a lot of things.. I get so much enjoyment out of my stack as small as it is... I thought a hundred ounces was impossible but I far exceeded that... I keep 3 oz of silver in my pocket all the time I have a 2 oz Texas nickel and its silver eagle that I keep with me.. it reminds me of freedom after listening to the audiobook of the richest man in Babylon on RUclips !!! God bless : )

    • @SoCalFreelance
      @SoCalFreelance  6 лет назад +3

      Exactly! I also cut my cable. And like you I've radically changed the way I shop for food. I no long purchase bottled water, tea, or soda. I haven't been on a vacation in the past four years. I've only been to the movies like 1 or 2 times in the past four years. So much to talk about on this which is why I'll make a follow-up video about it. And I keep a 1oz ASE in my pocket at all times to remind me of my stacking journey.

Just imagine if your Grandparents buried a chest full of Gold coins in 1930 what it would be worth now? Compare that to them burying a box full of Federal Reserve notes (cash) at the same time. Get it??

    • @SoCalFreelance
      @SoCalFreelance  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Marius. Different trains of thought on the topic of coins vs rounds. Coins are globally recognizable so some suggest they are easier to sell. Coins have a slight premium over rounds but the argument is you'll get some of that premium back when you sell plus coins sometimes gain numismatic value. Stackers will always suggest you to do your own research and reach your own conclusions. Whatever conclusion you come up with you will be supported because you're saving for your future.

      Yes, of course, but that's hindsight bias. Keep in mind I started when I did because I observed the precipitous drop of silver from its high of $46 in April 2011 to when I started at $20 in August of 2014. There is no doubt in my mind silver will return to $46+ And I have what I have today because it genuinely took me 4 years to build up. If I started today it would take me another 4 years to get to where I'm at today.

    I think many people are missing out on rhodium . Take a look at rhodium price charts and you will see that you could have a very good investment on that metal !! I think you will be very impressed! Its more volatile than other metals but if you buy that at right times you can hold on to it and sell it and buy more gold when times feels right !

    Everyone has there own way of collecting. Your collection is outstanding, but lol, I could never afford that. I have been collecting currency and silver coins for about 10 yrs, more of a hobby than an investment however. Canada does produce some nice silver rounds. I love wolves so some of my silver coins are the 1 troy ounce silver rounds with wolves on them.

      Absolutely, everyone collects in different ways and at their own pace and that's okay. As you can see I have a ton of RCM products from BU coins, to proof coins, to bars, they do an outstanding job! BTW, I also dabble in currency. I'll do a full currency collection video soon! Thanks for watching!

      Thanks sarge, the end result of four years of concentrated effort. Hopefully others are encouraged to save up a small precious metals stack of their own, that's the hope at least.
