Great review. I'm not interested in all those reviews that discuss specs all day. I want to know about the way the device works, the way it makes you feel compared to other devices, etc. Subscribed, my man.
I appreciate where you're coming from. That is my goal. As Yoda would say: "Specs on paper, the whole story do not tell, nor device's worth determine, they do." Thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate your support. Welcome to the community! 👍
I went from a Google Pixel 8 Pro... Trying to make the choice if I wanted to switch to the 9 Pro Fold I looked up reviews and comparisons. People said then that the camera would be a downgrade and I can't see any difference. After 2-3 weeks now nothing has caught my eye about this camera being any worse and now that I see you compare it to the 9 Pro I know hands down they are just as good as each other
You're absolutely right, I ran into the same information. The same thing is going on about the charging of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. They say it's the slowest foldable in charging when it actually is not. In all my tests, it's charged faster than the Z Folds on wired and wireless, even though the specs say it's supposed to be slower. I think Pixel has the best photo processing in the market, which is why they're able to get away with what seems to be subpar hardware on the cameras, but in all actuality outperform everyone else. Sounds like you're happy with the device and I'm glad to hear that. I'm very happy with mine as well. Thank you for tuning into the channel. I appreciate your comment and support! 👍
I LOVE my Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Never looked at the Z Fold, no need to. Z is too small, narrow. One fixable beef on the 9: To increase Blue Tooth range and stability (a common complaint), turn off A2DP in the developer section. A2DP is an extra step in sound processing that isn't missed in my buds. Otherwise, great job.
It's still my daily driver. My one beef is that they put the wireless charging too low so it's difficult to find a wireless charging stand for it. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support! 👍
Nice review as always G.O.T. Ur honest and i trust ur judgement......but, i still love my OnePlus open and i cant wait until the open 2 comes out. Have a great weekend
The OnePlus Open was definitely my favorite foldable while using it. The fact that I had two of them break inside a 1-month kind of messed up my perfect world with the OnePlus open, LOL. Now I do have to say that after using the Pixel 9 Pro Fold for a month, it really gave me a similar feeling as the OnePlus Open and I'm realizing I was not missing the OnePlus Open. When I had to use the Z Fold 5 for two weeks before the Pixel 9 Pro Fold came out, it was truly agonizing. What I mean by that is it felt so handicapped with that small front screen. It was truly annoying and even when you had to open the phone, you would end up turning it in landscape just to give a better feel and get me back to what I was used to with the OnePlus Open. I was just so glad that the Pixel Fold arrived within a couple of weeks after I had to send off my OnePlus Open for repair. Like you, I also am looking forward to the OnePlus Open gen 2. I'm hoping they make it a little more durable and I would like to also see them add wireless charging to it and some AI embedded features. What are you wanting to see in the next OnePlus Open?
It's a knockoff from Amazon and the MagSafe isn't aligned with the charging coils which are lower on the Pixel 9 Pro. I returned the case. The case is nice I just expect it to be made correctly. amzn.to/4eZQveo
I just got the Thinborne and it is a great case. Fits really well, has magsafe, and little extra bulk. I have magsafe everything coming off an iPhone (I go back and forth) so that was important to me.
@CaseySims Hey, thanks for sharing. Is your thinborne case charging the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on the MagSafe chargers? That is the one thing I've been looking for with these MagSafe chargers and I've yet to find one that will actually charge the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on the MagSafe chargers.
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I didn't get the thinborne case, but from what I've read the second batch of them has the magsafe ring in the correct position. All the first batches were in the wrong spot. Like me personally, since my car has android auto I didn't bother with magsafe and ended up getting a non magsafe aramid fiber case from another brand that's just as amazing.
I didn't actually mention the case because I bought it early on and it was very expensive. The wireless MagSafe built into the case is actually not placed properly so it doesn't work on the phone. I had them send me one replacement to see if it was just a bad one that I received, but it's the way the case was actually designed. I've got a different phone case on order, I'm waiting on it, and then I'll return this one. I really do like the case. Seems to provide great protection and is very thin and durable. Here's the link anyway. amzn.to/4eAI60T As soon as the new case comes in for this phone, I'm going to do a accessories video and talk more about this. Thanks for tuning in and supporting the channel! 👍
Yeah, I get that. The original Pixel Fold was very popular among its users. I do tend to lean towards a second generation of any device because they do manage to throw in a bunch of improvements. And with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it was a very big jump. I could definitely understand not upgrading. Thank you for tuning into the channel and I appreciate your comments and support.👍
Operation is amazing, however, the Z Fold 5 and 6 are so much thicker than the Pixel 9 pro fold so pocketability would realistically go to the Pixel as it's literally the thickness of a normal phone. I compared it to the normal s24 too and yeh this thickness looks and feels the same, that's how thin the Pixel 9 pro fold really is.
I really really desire this phone. But i'm scared of all the pictures of the internal screen cracking for no reason. People report it cracked while opening or closing it, and there's a lot of those pictures and stories on the internet. Getting an insurance with it is interesting, but most insurance company don't concider the internal screen the same as the front screen. The best insurance i found would charge a 40$ deductible to replace a screen on any smartphone. But for the internal screen, the deductible is 400$... I want it, but i'm terrified of buying it and have it snap in a month! Anybody got info on this issue being this widespread or very rare?
Interesting. I haven't heard that about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I've had plenty of issues with the OnePlus screen and both insurance and the manufacturer replaced it for free. Now this is in the US, other countries the laws may be different. I started by buying pre-owned and saved a lot of money. Do what's best for you because they are expensive. Thank you for sharing your concern, it is valid. I hope whatever you decide works out for you. 👍👍
I do not have any overheating issues and the battery life surpasses both the Z Fold 6 and OnePlus Open. If you're having issues I would ask what is your use case with the Pixel Fold. Do you game heavily on it or what are you doing when it overheats? How often does it overheat? Does it freeze during use? I would also make sure it's software is up to date. I'm curious if others are having heating issues. Look forward to hearing more about your experience. Thanks for sharing and asking your question. 👍
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I actually haven't purchased it yet and I have the Galaxy z fold 5 and I do not like the battery life, even when powered down to save battery it's not impressive. So it's good to hear your reviews and that you did not have any overheating or battery drain issues. Thank you sir
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964it's bizarre that the battery life is better on the Pixel fold than the OnePlus. OnePlus is the more battery efficient chip. I wonder if Google might be throttling it or aggressively.
@michaelcorcoran8768 I think similarly to Apple, when you make all your hardware, it's easier to get it to be more effective. I think that's all that they're doing: having it optimized with all their hardware.
Sorry to hear that your Xiaomi is suffering. I've been fortunate not to have dropped any of my devices and damaged them. I can definitely understand the loss of the phone when it stops working. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with your device. 👍

On the interior screen? I mean they're all using the same materials. Effectively plastic. Scratches at a level 2 with deeper grooves at a level 3. I will definitely do a thorough comparison. Pixel has always been the best at photo processing, so that may beat the better hardware of the OnePlus Open. I am looking forward to comparing it. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is actually beating the OnePlus in benchmarks from what I'm seeing, but I have to see that for myself. I don't think the battery will last longer than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold because of optimization, but I'll have to test that too. Bottom line, I'm looking forward to the battle as well.
