For your information, the 2.5l 16v engine was developed entirely in-house by Mercedes Benz with absolutely NO involvement with Cosworth. It was only with the 2.3l 16v engine that Cosworth was commissioned to develop the 16v head for Mercedes entry into rallying. Unfortunately, Audi with the Quattro put a quick end to that idea & Mercedes Benz decided to divert to circuit racing instead.
This is not accurate statement. Engine in this car was still heavily based on that 2.3 engine and had the same DOHC head (production Mercedes-Benz engine was equipped with SOHC head) developed previously by Cosworth. The difference was in bore x stroke which gave slightly more cubic capacity to newer one... The only thing that changed was manufacturing of the engine was moved from cosworth to Mercedes-Benz factory, but Cosworth still remained somewhere in background. So, technicaly it's still Cosworth-engineering-made engine in this car despite some management (and potentially marketing 😂) made changes...
To put this to other perspective, I've seen gearbox made by "someone" which in fact was entirely built from parts that came in crate in building workshop in "someone's" factory. The parts was all made by other subcontracted company. Parts for entire gbx including casing... I think that in that case was some homologation rules involved...saying something like "all of the components must be made by car producer " 😅
This car was special enough for a 6. All seems great until you start the engine. It's like a gorgeous girl, (or guy), that you suddenly hear with one of those awful accents.
Badass car. I’ve owned 5 Mercedes in my lifetime. My AMG E55 was my favorite. But I had an old 300E with a body style similar to this one. It only had a 6 cylinder but it always seemed really fast and superbly built. It wasn’t AMG fast. But certainly enough to put a smile on your face. I had a chance to buy the same body 500E. Big mistake letting it go.
To me the most cool car in the collection, I grow up with DTM, and the cars that came out of the serie are legends to me, is there a E 500 (made at Porsche) in the collection? Great chanel.
If you were to give me the option between this car and a amg gt black series...I'd ask you "what do you gain when asking stupid questions" 🤣. I love this car!
I like all versions of W201! And currently owned one. 1985 UK spec, 2.0 8v. Standard AF. Been in my family since 1997. Now I owned it for a good 10 years. Daily driven. Sincerely, I love more the EVO I.
Mooie collectie! Je hebt er meteen subscriber #126 bij! De EVO2 ziet er als nieuw uit. Hoeveel km heeft hij op de teller staan?! Ook gaaf dat bijna de hele collectie zwart is!
Fergus Dublin Ireland European Union E.U Yes, more test drives and vlogs please. I'm looking to buy as young a 2.6 190E six cylinder or a W124 E280 Thanks a lot.
@@benzcollectorsneek that is fantastic to see people still care about these legendary cars. It’s a beautiful piece of engineering… I’m actually building my own EVO2 replica right now. To clarify, my question is about the estimated value of the car, not the sale price… I’d be interested to know the originals value. Thanks
This is the best Evo 2 video I've seen. Thanks bro. Appreciate it. 👍
That's great to hear, thank you very much!
whats the first one? please link me
Nice car....boy i bet the guys at the Patina Collective would love to have that EVO 2

How much would that have cost new?
It would've been around 164.000 DM back in the day, calculated to modern currency about €80.000
DTM legend, pure thoroughbred. Mercedes Benz at their best. Car porn to be enjoyed if you ever see one in the flesh. :-)
Go to Albania and you will see many in the streets.
@@kreshnik1710 All left hookers I'm guessing?
It's true, they are some great pieces of art!

Hi,
the correct German sentence would be "Die DTM Legende" as legends are always female 😎😉
Thank you very much! We'll change it asap ;)
Can I ask about the price of this particular car?
Sorry but the cars are from a private collection and are not listed for sale
