I've seen her live twice and I am an unabashed fangirl. Can't wait till she tours again. Oh my! The second time I saw her, I made sure I was right down the front. At one point in the gig, the rest of the band went off stage and left us alone with just Lianne and her guitar. The sound of her voice was soooo exquisite, I was hanging on her every note. At one point in the song, she paused for effect and you could have quite literally heard a pin drop in the O2 Academy. It was a bit freaky, to be honest. I actually glanced behind me to see if everyone was still there. They were. It's just they were all mesmerised. I've never, ever heard complete silence like that at a gig. There are always numpties who whistle and shout 'We love you' and other random crap. Not one single person broke the silence. I'll never ever forget that moment as long as I live. Her voice could stop wars, I'm sure.
Her Weird Fishes cover is amazing too!
LOVE Lianne, and loved watching you watching her and playing along
Lianne La Havas is an amazing guitar player and singer! I saw her live once, just her and her guitar and it was phenomenal.
You should check out her song Midnight live 🔥
Lianne is a musical genius, plays the guitar, composes incredible songs has the voice of .... Lianne La Havas, it is imcomparable ... incredible she was likely born in the wrong era but then again the wrong era may not have let us see her.
Lianne La Havas is just amazing!
I love Lianne, one of my fav artists. 'Forget' is amazing, thanks a lot for this, I really enjoyed the rundown ❤ her last album is crazy you should check it out :)
When you started with "my wife" I thought she was your wive for a moment
lol same
I did the same.
Me three.
I wish Ms. LaHava was MY wife but for much longer than a moment. As it is I will enjoy her completely entrancing singing and have to be satisfied with that: An old man’s pitiful daydreams after all but the music is SO good. That will have to be enough and it is.
She's a great songwriter, and I love the passion in her live performances. You should really check out her performance with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Amazing arrangements of her already great songs. Her Weird Fishes cover is a personal favorite. Very hard to add your own character to an already amazing song.
Great video Rotem! Lianne Las Havas just rocks!
Thanks!! Yea, she's soooo good!!
I love that you’re jamming along 🥰
As I listen to Ms. LaHavas, her voice and style remind me of a much more Jazz oriented Corrine Bailey Rae. I like her singing very much and thank you for introducing her music to me.
Great video once again. Thanks man. It would be interesting to see your process for creating a “film noir” type chord progression. I suspect you’d chain together some very cool movement.
She really is the best. She's what pop music should always be.
the tom misch remix of what you dont do is crazy
Ohhh! I need to check it out!
Great video. Thank you
please tell her to release more music pleaseeeeeee!!!!
My favorite songs by her are Elusive, Midnight, Don’t Wake Me Up
Nice work, after Anderson Paak's and this one, Tank and the Bangas tiny desk is a must.
Oh yes!
I like how she leaves room for an instrumentlist to feel in around her vocals. I mean I don't know if that's just for the tiny desk or not. 😄I've heard the name before but I'm not familiar with her music. Keep this tiny desk thing going!
She's an incredible artist!
do you have any video explains all that things on your guitar?
Check out "Please Don't Make Me Cry" and "Wierd Fishes" (one of her excellent covers originaly by RadioHead)
I don't really get the second chord progression: Gb, Ab, Bb7. Where does it come from?
Lianne is one of my best discoveries of about ten years ago, she's a total bad-ass!.
Plays a mean guitar too.
Lianne! Everyone should check her out
Lianne is different class
אתה תותח רותם!
Happily, the UK is still replete with good musicians, bands and songwriters, such as Lianne.
I'd like to see more reaction videos to Lianne's music. She's the one of the best. Her Midnight at sofar, Bittersweet at Colors, her home live at Tiny Desk. God she's unique. She deserves much more.
She is indeed the best!
Is your wife a musician or highly educated in music because her choices in performances are on point!
She's a data scientist!
If you guys are doing a lesson can you place the correct chord diagram and close ups to assist people trying to learn.
Paper thin best sounding song on guitar
I like your enthousiasm, but your approach is - sorry tot be critical - a little bit limmited to harmonical and functionel analysis, and to the functional analysis of the voice lines in chord procession. I tend to do the same, but it's not fair. She has a habit to play the guitar rhytms in another pace than her singing melodies. The tension between rhythm of the guitar and rhtythm of the voice is a recognisable element of her music. Check out how I found her (and sought further afterwards) in her Blogothèque 'No Room for Doubts'
Forget has a Spanish feel to it - how is that brought about?
You seem like a very nice person. I would like to meet you one day.
It sounds like Andalusian from Spain…. This is typical Andalusian chord structure
It's that little "arabic" inflection/semitone pull off hammer on F that's mirrored in the vocal.
great breakdown, I just can't get into her music or similar stuff. Just not my thing
Thanks! I'm into her work after this tiny desk tbh
