- Sometimes you just need to change things up in your golf bag... and yes, we are talking about your old shafts. In this video, DJ takes his set of Srixon ZX7 MKII's and replaces his LA Golf shafts for a set of Mitsubishi Chemical MMT Taper shafts. The other cool part of this process is that you also get to replace your old ferrules giving your clubs a completely new look!
Let us know if you have any questions or if you want us to build you a custom set of irons!

As a new hobby builder / enthusiast this get me going! So sick! Nice build & craftmanship!
Awesome to hear! Thanks for the support and good luck building!
This man and his tram will construct no club in a hurry and we should ALL appreciate that! I would rather wait an extra week or two to get it right than have it too quick just to show my buddies only to find out that there was something not done to perfection. Keep it up DJ!!!! Love these videos - however would love them more with your commentary!!! :)
Might have to mic him up next time!
DJ is the best!
I've said it before, I'll say again...craftsmanship. Precision, talent, artist.
Yessir! Always appreciate the support!
DJ and his team are total craftsman! DJ knows only one way to do club builds - THE RIGHT WAY!!
Mine were flawless.....Mizuno/Mamiya/BB&F/GP 👊🏻⛳
Glad to hear it!
One question, Are tip weights not available for graphite shafts, or do they just cause to many issue when used in graphite shafts?
Good question. So graphite shafts do have drop weights / tip weight options. The issue is that more of the weight has to be outside of the shaft compared to tip weighting a steel shaft because the interior circumference is much tighter on graphite. For this reason it can cause two main problems. The first issue is trying to get a proper fit between the shaft and the head. The weight sticking out of the end can result in a loose fit, meaning more epoxy and shaving has to take place. The second problem is more player based, but with that extra weight outside the shaft, it can reduce the feel you get off of the club face. Hope this helps!
If I ever get a hold of 1st generation Orlimar IRS 3-PW hybrid set in very good condition. I definitely want to upgrade the shafts to something that has packs more power to the ball
That would be a super fun build ⚡️
@@LoggerheadGolf I found myself a set of Orlimar IRS hybrids on eBay hopefully here next week.
@@jayhales3822 ha funky offsets on those!
@@LoggerheadGolf I like my offset clubs. Had a fitter tell me they put to much spin on the ball.
What made you switch to the MMTs?
Good question. So originally the LA shaft was an experiment to see how light I could go with a shaft and even though the LA is very firm feeling in it’s stiff flex, and I didn’t have a bad dispersion with it, it was a little softer in the handle and mid section and so I had to make my swing a little smoother than is normal for me. The MMT 105 Tx is much firmer in overall profile which allows me to stay quick at the top without overloading the shaft. Looking forward to testing more lightweight stiff shafts in the future!
