I have used and owned the Japanese made BOSS BF-2 since 1990. I never thought I would find another flanger with the same sound and sonic abilities but the Thunderstorm is really close. So if you have always been tempted by the BF-2 but can't find one at a good price, give the Thunderstorm a try 🙂
@@octoplod There were so many great reviews of the Thunderstorm, that I thought I’d give it a try. Am glad I did… it sounds great & incredible value. Your comparison with the BF-2 was confirmation to pull the trigger. I also watched your video of the CE-2 & TC Afterglow… once again v useful & informative. As you said, they’re very close. (I already have a CE-2W, but affirmation the Afterglow is so similar is good to know). Am really impressed with the TC stuff. Keep up the good work. For sure, a comp with the FL-9 would be cool.
Me da la impresión de que el tc electronic tiene un tono "vintage" mientras el boss suena a flanger moderno. Los dos sin dudas suenan de lujo, excelentes herramientas al igual que el e lady de Mooer.
@@octoplod Igual el mio! Además es muy cercano en tono al dimension c de boss. Igual el phase mooer es muy cercano al mxr phase 90 scrip y la versión evh. El ensamble king funciona de lujo con guitarra acústica o para recrear tonos chorus ce 2 con bajo rate y color. Son las herramientas perfectas para el hueso en los toquines del tercer mundo donde no te puedes mover con equipo muy costoso sin el riesgo de que te asalten🤯🤯🤯🤯
The switching on this line of TC pedals is strange. Most pedals are turned on or off when the switch is pushed down, but on these TC ones the switch only activates when you lift up after pushing it down.

Thanks. The FL-9 would be a great pedal to try out. I think the Thunderstorm is a real hidden gem in that range of TC Electronic pedals.

bf2 sounds better in most examples, great video. Had the Tc and sold it but I still think its a great pedal

Good compaison. I have the TC flanger , its ok but the boss kicks its butt.
I don't think so. I don't think most guitarists could tell them apart in a blind comparison. Both are good, one costs less.

The Thunderstorm is great sounding pedal BF-2 alternaitve.
I’ve had both. What irks me about the tc line this pedal is in is that they all make your sound cardboard

The TC Electronic version is cheaper than the Boss version even at used Boss prices. They sounded about the same to this home plinker.
I think TC Electronic Thunderstorm is a real bargain if you want to try the old Boss analog flanger sound
