After a lot of people asking how to write ARTIST RESEARCH and ANNOTATIONS, I've created an IN DEPTH video with everything you need to know to get a GRADE 9. LINK TO THE VIDEO ... ruclips.net/video/ogUZkcEzL2I/видео.html also THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the love on this video xxx
This video was acc really good. I got a grade 9 this year!!! But I think this is one of the most practical and accurate video about getting a high grade in it
I'm regretting taking art GCSE and I haven't even had my first art lessons as I started school yesterday. I don't do well with stress and I hate my art so I'm just really scared as it looks like a lot of work
Miles Scarlett it looks like a lot of work but you get set tasks week by week so as long as you stay on track it won’t be too stressful!! I’m sure you’ll do great xxx
Perhaps consider switching? I too am considering a switch, because I didn't take a creative subject and I m atdssed about that. And i might switch to art. If you're really unhappy perhaps look into something else? First, check if you need Art GCSE to be what you any to be
Im in Yr 11 and yes it is a lot of stress if you don't keep on top of your work do it week by week and if you have extra time do some more art work! You'll be great
Is it bad not to take a creative subject? I might switch to drama if it is. I was gonna do art but I don't think I can, they have covered much work already it'll be hard to catch up. I hope you enjoy DT more
This is so unbelievably helpful. I’ve just gone into y11 and I’m panicking because I know I have so much to do while not having a clue how to approach it. This video just made my life so much less stressful
My art lessons consisted of us going in and out of the cupboard for a chat. But also the teacher would get stressed and cry and everyone was in a bad mood. No one really did any work. But we all passed. And I got an A was it worth it? Haha. No
a tip for tracing, cover the back of your printed picture in graphite, place your picture on top of a plain piece of paper and gently trace the outline of the printed picture
I do not regret taking art gcse. I am very fortunate to have a laid back teacher and I would be considered by people to be skilled in art. My teacher doesn't even care about layout. He actually prefers it if you don't do backgrounds. He just wants you to do actual good art.
Your honestly so sweet , I can tell u genuinely want to help people like giving people the research pages info etc ... This video really helped I’m in year 10 and the amount of coursework we get for art is a lotttt . Thank u this video really helped ! We are also told using an art book with a binder / ringed spine will get u a higher mark as u can attach material and layer stuff throughout your book by attaching with string ♥️
Your sketchbook actually looks so amazing 😢 we’re not allowed to do anything like yours, I’m in year 11 and our sketchbooks literally look the same as our year 9 ones, no variation in page layouts or anything 😭x
I just started year 11 and we are a WHOLE project behind because our teacher was off for about 7 weeks! The project we are just starting we were meant to finish at the end of year 10. My artist researched from year 10 were just a shamble 😂😂. You are an absolute babe for this omg ❤️❤️
Ugh I just started my art gcse a few weeks ago and my art is so much worse than at home. Its too much pressure and school has a negative effect on my work
Clash With Kritzl I totally feel you!! Can be hard sometimes with all the other work load from other subjects too!! Just try and enjoy as much of it as you can xx
buttercup flower If you have relatively good organisational skills and decently you’re good at art, then do it, but then again idk how long most ppl get to do coursework for, (I only had one term to do all my coursework). But organisation is sorta important for it
For the first time ever, I finally understand what needs to be in my portfolio. Thank you so much for this video, for some reason it's really hard to find GCSE or IGCSE videos on art and design and guides on what you need in your coursework and final portfolio but this video was a lifesaver
Right I am in y11 now about to start the coursework that will make up 60% of my grade and I have NO CLUE what I’m doing. 😭 My teacher hasn’t explained AT ALL what we are supposed to do and I’m just so stressed! I feel everything I’m doing is so disjointed and random with no order or meaning to it, my teacher has us working in two sketchbooks which has my work scattered everywhere and AGGH I’m losing my mind! Do you basically just do a load of artist research pages connected to ONE topic you choose for your coursework (like for my mock I chose to do political unrest so do I carry on with that?) and then a ton of examples of you imitating their work? And how does that link to your final piece? Any help would be greatly appreciated bc my teacher is a nightmare and I am panicking so badly lol
guinevere basically like your mock, you can pick a new topic for your 60% coursework sketchbook - but a lot of teachers recommend you do something similar so for example if you were doing drawing people for your mock then you don’t change to drawing sunsets (you stick to what you know how to do in order to get the best marks) you should change your project title/book but I would say stick to the type of thing you were doing before (unless you hate it) I changed it completely as I didn’t like painting realistic after year 10 // then find different artists to research connected to that topic that ‘influence or inspire your work’ - hope this helps, let me know if you need any other help xx
My teacher is the exact same! She's only just told us that we'll be doing our 60% coursework exam in 2 months and we haven't even started the research let alone the preparation for it. I'm so screwed and I have no clue what to do as my teacher keeps on changing what she wants me to do
I go to a REALLY strict grammar school and they have been prepping us artzo kids for our a-levels and GCSE's and they told us pretty much the same things as you. This is truly an amazing video (And I was already getting like level 5's from year 8 but my hell school isn't worth It!)
If anyone's scared about getting a pass, it's honestly not that hard as long as you do the work. I procrastinated like crazy and probably did about a 3rd of my book in the couple of weeks before it was due, and I still got a 5. You got this bruh!!
omg my year 10 sketchbook is due in a few days, and our teachers have told us so little on how to develop our work. this video was by far the clearest and most helpful with the explanations of the assessment objectives and just in general so thank you so much 😭😭😭
Just started year 10. And I'm so happy to find one of these vids from 2019. The standard just keeps getting higher and changing every year lol. Thank you for this video it's really helpful to look at other books and take ideas. Is creating texture and interactive flaps actually good for GCSE's or is that worse for the examiner?
I’m really worried for my art GCSEs I’m currently in yr 11 and on a grade 3 I jus don’t know how I can improve my grade and what I’m doing wrong any advice/ tips ?
hey, so I'm in your year. Just fill your book with lots of nice writing annotations and images of drawings or stuff you took pics of (or found) and draw in different mediums of maybe the same thing in small. I find it really fills my book and gives a developed look. good luck!
Hey I’m in year 11 to (fml) and I had the exact same problem. I was stuck at a 3 for months. But I found that your actual talent in art isn’t as important as you may think. I’m not particularly talented when it comes to art so I use the photography side to raise my grade. If I were you I’d focus on filling your page with annotations, photos and experimental work. That way you don’t need as many studies and paintings. It doesn’t require much artistic skill but it REALLY helped to raise my grade. Good luck my dude
I also find it easier when u draw and u want highlights. Always start with the light shaded pencil then using a darker pencil add ur shadows or whatever, then after that use a pencil stump to blend it. Or if u don’t have a pencil stump soft tissue works just as well!
This is such a great video, thank you. My daughter is currently just going into year 11. She really wasn’t happy with her year 10 work so has spent the lockdown and the summer holidays redoing it all, she has worked so hard. The part she is struggling with is the annotations- the parts where she needs to talk about the elements of art etc. Would you mind sharing a close up of what you wrote when talking about this please so she has an idea?
I am actually training to be an art teacher and i have learnt more from you than my whole course so far! I didn't realise it was now such a difficult gcse and feel like they have kind of ruined what used to be a nice subject 😢
Just watched this and honestly thank you so muchhh!! I’m in year 10 currently doing art gcse and I really needed ideas and I watched so many vids but this was the MOST useful❤️❤️
Wow! I am halfway through year 10 art and we have not been told any of this which is really annoying because I am hoping to study art farther. Thank you so much, this is a life saver!
This is so helpful thank you! Im in year 10 and i really struggle with my presentation ( its always so boring lol ) so ill deffo use some of these tips
Lula Belle it can be but with backgrounds and stuff I found if I got inspo of Pinterest it made it a lot more fun and not trying to make things perfect, I’m glad it helped - good luck xxx
i don’t do gcses i’m from ireland, our version of gcses is called the junior certificate exams and i do junior cert art , This video was so helpful with my work!! thank you so so so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Our main focus for our Art GCSE is bacteria and skulls work, and I’m in year 11 and currently going back through my art book and trying to make my work from year 9 onwards look better. It’s embarrassingly bad, and we are unable to restart it, just add to it. I feel like this is going to significantly reduce my overall grade and I’m so stressed. I personally think Ive improved and my most recent work is good, but there’s no saving my Y9 work
i had the same problem and my teacher said that it's pointless to redo it because this is actually going to lower my marks because it "wouldn't show my progress" which I guess is important in art
I swear down the other day someone said to me GCSE art is the easiest subject you can take and I almost turned round and slapped him, i'm only in year 10 and already its the most stressful of all my subjects
I’m hoping to take GCSE art this year and I’m already so excited even though I might not be able to do it, basically I’m trying to change schools due to huge problems with my old school but all the other schools in my area are over-subscribed so I have one more school that might accept me but if they don’t then I’m not getting GCSEs :,) but this video is very helpful and I’ll definitely refer back to it if I’m able to go to the school
I know I’m super late lol but I’m in year 10 and when gcse work in art started, lockdown happened so I’m rlly nervous for when I go back to school. This helped me know the stress of art lol and amazing art btw! ❣️
im a great artist but im getting shafted cuz my art teacher doesnt like anime r manga style even when i meet the requiremenrrts she gives me a level 4 wtf
I’m year 8 and want to do gsce art, I can’t do anything except shade my drawings like barbed wire and bike chains. I’m expected a grade 7 (A) for my gsces
I used to love art as well. Then I took it for GCSE and regretted it so much. There was hardly a person who took art that didn't regret it. Tbh it was awful, not what I expected it to be like at all. I'm not telling to to not take it, just be careful.
Art GCSE is one of the hardest GCSE's you could possibly do. It's stressful, it's difficult and you need to sacrifice a lot of time if you want to achieve a B, A or even an A*. If you are choosing art simply because you don't know what else to do you are gonna experience hell
I’m still debating whether I should pick art or not cuz I’m not the best at art but my grade that I get in art is like a “A” or a “B” if it had to be converted to gsce grade so I’m worried that if it is enough to pick that as my subject
I’m sure this video will be very helpful for me as I start my art gcse course this year (I’m starting year 9) I’m a little bit worried about it as I don’t know anyone in my class but I’ve got the same teacher who was really nice and taught me last year.
I'm doing mine with a private tutor(sort of) as I'm homeschooled, but this helps so juch, especially considering I'm doing most of the studf by myself without the help of a teacher.
what would you say to someone like me who has a biased teacher and degrades you constantly and can’t find the motivation to do well again like they used to in art?
peacesuwus sorry to hear that, I think what id do is just start doing art that I love, start to enjoy it again - art is subjective so something your teacher may love you may hate and sometimes it’s just luck if you both like the same thing. You could ask the teacher what they want you to do, not so you can do it necessarily just so you know whether she’s being critical of your work or she just knows that it won’t get the top grades you deserve xxx
My art teacher is literally the person marking our GCSE art exam because she’s qualified so we have to suck up to her and be nice like a teachers pet basically
You have cracked the secret to passing all exams at any level in any subject - give them what they want. They will always telll you what they are looking for in the blurb, so just give it to them.
Thankyou so much for this video it has really helped I took art and it’s a big regret of mine as I stress about it a lot I’m not naturally talented however I do have the creativity I’m just about to start year 11 so hopefully I can get better in time x
this is so helpful. i keep panicking because i’ve chosen art for gcse but i haven’t started it yet. i might not even need it but i enjoy art and might be an architect but everyone talks about how hard it is
I’m in year 8 and I’m considering taking art for gsce, I find it relaxing and something to help me take my mind off things. Any suggestions on what I should start practicing?
Heyy, i have quite a few questions if i could ask them on instagram or something? I started year 11 a few weeks ago but started a sketchbook in year 10 and still using that one and planning a final piece but im thinking of making a new sketchbook and transferring the stuff I want into a new one... but i have no idea if I will have enough time 😭 x
i want to take gcse art and we have just got our options. i would like to know if i could base my whole book or most of it on marvel cause i love the movies and i would like write about stan lee and his motivation to make the comics and the challenges he had to over come and about some of the actors and like collages of characters but idk if i would be able to does anyone
thank u sm! im in year 10 and i dont rlly like my teacher that much, she only really tells us what we're bad at and never anything good, so our whole kinda class is flunking this vid helped so much and got sent to a gc :) good job
Hi Maisie your art work is AMAZING 😍 do you have some tips on how to improve your art skills because I'm starting gcse art this year and I'm afraid I won't be good enough I know I'm good but I'm just worried😅😪
Not gonna lie GCSE sucked the joy of art out of me for a good year or so but now I sell art as a side hustle, I only had a C too lmao keep going kids you’ll get it! Your book is really incredible!❤️ (You can see some of my art on my channel if you’re curious ahah)
I’m going into year 10 which where I live is the start for gcse. I chose art very reluctantly because I don’t want to go into realism but any of the careers I want to go in to need an art gcse.I like to think I have some talent but my only issue is that I will spend 10+ hours on a tiny piece of art, don’t get me wrong I’ll get top grades for it but I’m working on my speed. My art teacher was very persistent with the fact she wanted me to take art purely out of the fact that I can analyse really well, I’m very aware that I am going to struggle with art on top of my computer science and other gcse subjects but I’m too stubborn to not pass and will probably spend weekends working on art pieces. Thank you so much for this I’ve been writing down a bunch of artists and ideas for my sketchbook. Even though I’m super stressed from it I know I’ll be alright eventually. My mum took fine art and she admitted it was stressful but I’m lucky she has her old sketchbook as I can use it for reference :))’ again thank you for this :3

Also add every single drawing that relates even if it's shiteee.

Lula Belle it can be but with backgrounds and stuff I found if I got inspo of Pinterest it made it a lot more fun and not trying to make things perfect, I’m glad it helped - good luck xxx
shows year 8 work : that’s literally what my year 11 book looks like
i don’t do gcses i’m from ireland, our version of gcses is called the junior certificate exams and i do junior cert art , This video was so helpful with my work!! thank you so so so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Jess Finley ahh that’s so interesting!! Never knew that, always wanted to visit Ireland - good luck xxx
Maisie this makes me so happy! You were a superstar! Big love Miss Vollenhoven x
Jax Vollenhoven Ahh thanks Miss!! The best teacher, hope you are doing well x
I'm taking textiles instead because we couldn't do art and textiles together which is Annoying but the and I am scared for life
I've been debating whether to take it or not and this video has really helped. Thanks!
i knew i could trust this video when i saw the book "100 nasty women of history" in the background!!!
Thankyou, this video has helped me alot to gain an overall idea of art as a gcse, I just started year 10 and i have no clue what is going on
I know I’m super late lol but I’m in year 10 and when gcse work in art started, lockdown happened so I’m rlly nervous for when I go back to school. This helped me know the stress of art lol and amazing art btw! ❣️
im a great artist but im getting shafted cuz my art teacher doesnt like anime r manga style even when i meet the requiremenrrts she gives me a level 4 wtf
Baldtaro kujo oh that’s a shame! How a lot of schools work these days sadly, keep up your passion though x
That shouldn’t happen, my art teacher literally told me to do manga art for my final piece
I’m year 8 and want to do gsce art, I can’t do anything except shade my drawings like barbed wire and bike chains. I’m expected a grade 7 (A) for my gsces
Megan And Kacie can’t be good at all different types of art, stick to your thing you’re good at xxx
Maisie Crompton thank you so much
UR SO TALENTED!!! well deserved
I'm in year 8 and I love art. Definitely taking it for GCSEs but I know it's gonna be way more stressful than now 😂
Maja Szul yep ahaha!! But it will all be good if you continue to love it xx
I used to love art as well. Then I took it for GCSE and regretted it so much. There was hardly a person who took art that didn't regret it. Tbh it was awful, not what I expected it to be like at all. I'm not telling to to not take it, just be careful.
@@taehyunsfairy1843 K. I will keep this in mind.
@@taehyunsfairy1843 What made it awful though?
@@taehyunsfairy1843 what made it awful??
I’m currently in year 10 and I got a 6 for my first piece so I really hope to get an 8 or 9 by GCSEs 😬
Potterhead4ever good luck xxx
Maisie Crompton thank u!!😍😍😘
how’d it go
Art GCSE is one of the hardest GCSE's you could possibly do. It's stressful, it's difficult and you need to sacrifice a lot of time if you want to achieve a B, A or even an A*.
If you are choosing art simply because you don't know what else to do you are gonna experience hell
Wow thats rlly reassuring tysm
im in year nine and im about to pick it for options so this is very helpful
I got a 9 for my art and this is exactly the advice I would give!
this is so helpful! i didn’t pick art as a GCSE but my school gave it to me 🥴 i’m so bad at art but i’ll try my best
I’m still debating whether I should pick art or not cuz I’m not the best at art but my grade that I get in art is like a “A” or a “B” if it had to be converted to gsce grade so I’m worried that if it is enough to pick that as my subject
Maisie Crompton alrighty ❤️
Thank you, im in year 11 and in a mess, I need to sort out my coursework hope I can do it before December
I’m sure this video will be very helpful for me as I start my art gcse course this year (I’m starting year 9) I’m a little bit worried about it as I don’t know anyone in my class but I’ve got the same teacher who was really nice and taught me last year.
Amelia Alice ahhh!! I’m sure you’ll make friends xxx
This is quite unrelated but how do you get your channel name to be like that?
Like arateki?
Hʏᴜɴᴊɪɴ's Wɪꜰᴇ lingojam.com/FontChanger
just re enter your username after you pick your font
Xophos I’m so sorry that happened :( she should be fired
@@arateki3942 thanks :)
I’m in y10 wtf did I pick this
My art teacher is literally the person marking our GCSE art exam because she’s qualified so we have to suck up to her and be nice like a teachers pet basically
I’m in year 10 doing GCSE art and Im around a grade 5 ish
could you do like the different tasks/things you had to do for GCSE art like course work etc.
this is so helpful. i keep panicking because i’ve chosen art for gcse but i haven’t started it yet. i might not even need it but i enjoy art and might be an architect but everyone talks about how hard it is
This is so helpful thank you I'm starting year 11 in September ❤️
I’m in year 8 and I’m considering taking art for gsce, I find it relaxing and something to help me take my mind off things. Any suggestions on what I should start practicing?
Betty Schwallocks just observational drawings in all different kinds of media xx
thank you so much, it was actually super helpful
Honestly this video was so helpful, I'm so stressed about getting a good grade 😥
If I can draw then it would be easy
Any tips on how like how do people observe and draw so accurate
Heyy, i have quite a few questions if i could ask them on instagram or something? I started year 11 a few weeks ago but started a sketchbook in year 10 and still using that one and planning a final piece but im thinking of making a new sketchbook and transferring the stuff I want into a new one... but i have no idea if I will have enough time 😭 x
Just switched to art from music partway through my year 11 and THANKYOU
thankyou so much maisie.i hope this helps me because i am doing coursework{in year 10} xx
i want to take gcse art and we have just got our options. i would like to know if i could base my whole book or most of it on marvel cause i love the movies and i would like write about stan lee and his motivation to make the comics and the challenges he had to over come and about some of the actors and like collages of characters but idk if i would be able to does anyone
thank u sm! im in year 10 and i dont rlly like my teacher that much, she only really tells us what we're bad at and never anything good, so our whole kinda class is flunking
this vid helped so much and got sent to a gc :) good job
ines aissi ahhh thank you!! Good luck xxx
Hi Maisie your art work is AMAZING 😍 do you have some tips on how to improve your art skills because I'm starting gcse art this year and I'm afraid I won't be good enough I know I'm good but I'm just worried😅😪
Jochebed Sule good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great xx
@@MaisieCromptonn thanks ❤
Not gonna lie GCSE sucked the joy of art out of me for a good year or so but now I sell art as a side hustle, I only had a C too lmao keep going kids you’ll get it!
Your book is really incredible!❤️
(You can see some of my art on my channel if you’re curious ahah)
VixxyArt same and thank you!! - will have a look xx
My mum took fine art and she admitted it was stressful but I’m lucky she has her old sketchbook as I can use it for reference :))’ again thank you for this :3
I got a 9 too, and I'm still watching this!! I'm not taking it for alevel either, much too much hassle!!
do A LOT of examples with different medias!
I’m only 5 minutes in but this is honestly so helpful
Emily Burton thank you so much, means a lot xxx
Btw your work is amazing x it gives me hope that improving my art skills is possible
Hannah Hirst of course it is!! Let me know how it goes - good luck xxx
I can’t draw and I’m doing art yay
Amira Ayanle I bet you can do other things though :)
Actually?!? U can draw?!?
11:30how did u stick the star burst and skittles so they hang like that?
I’ve just picked art for my GSCE! Do I need to buy loads of supply’s for at home to do art work (for homework and stuff) xx
