No, you dont. This girl is just crazy good. I have watched the video on repeat for almost an hour. You cant knock yourself for not progressing like her, 99.999% of people dont get good like her in a year and a half.
Let's not overlook the incredible dedication it takes to reach her level of skill in such a short time. A year and a half of focused, consistent effort, not just with the guitar but across various pursuits, can lead to rapid growth, especially if you're a normal to above-average learner. While some things may click faster for some people, it's undeniable that she must have practiced for hours on end. Remember, you don't suck. Most people who are better than you have simply put in more reps. Consistency and challenging yourself every time you pick up the guitar are key if you want to progress from a beginner to an advanced player. Don't let someone else's progress discourage you. Stick with it, and you'll find your way. When I decided to learn guitar, my personal rule was to "just pick up my guitar once a day." Over time, I started focusing on improving my technique, efficiency, skills, scales, learning the fretboard, and becoming comfortable with the instrument. Pace yourself and play guitar for your own enjoyment. Prove yourself wrong. You have nothing to prove to anyone else, my friend. Keep shredding.
You're doing GREAT !!!!!! Just GREAT !!! i'm 77 yrs old , and i've been fooling with guitars since i was 5 !!! AND , I'M STILL AT IT !!!!! i have loved guitars all my life , and i am SOOOOOO glad to be living in this era of Unworldly Players , and some of the finest guitars ever built !!!! but , the thing i want most to share with you is that it NEVER ENDS !!!!! there is ALWAYS something NEW to try , and study , and learn !!!! keep it up kid !!!!! you're on your way !!!!!!!! robb in Connecticut
For real, learning sweep picking 2 years into learning guitar is wild, I wouldn't even dare trying to learn than when I was playing for 8+ years 😂 Got the right practice routine though, not surprising. I bet most of us guitarists noodle around way too long and never really bother learning too much once we reach a certain point
3:31 - Let me tell you right here, the significant progress you displayed! Nice alternate picking form and you USED A METRONOME!!! Perfect! I love seeing someone like you dedicated to the art of guitar and taking positive steps to achieving your goals! I have no doubt based on the short time frame of rapid progress you’ve made even just at this point in the video (around 8 months I think it is) is nothing short of incredible! Keep reaching for the stars! ⭐️
I've been re-learning how to play for about the last two weeks. I hadn't really played much over the last 30 years and I am very rusty but this is really inspiring to watch. You've made so much progress in such a short amount of time. I hope you always keep playing music!
Thank you for this "shred" of inspiration. Hard work and repetition has paid off for you and is motivation for many of us to keep pushing. I would love to see your practice routine.
Liv Garcia is the new Queen of Shred!! Ive been playing for 40 years and cant play half of what your playing. Very cool video. I guess nobody wants to do this but what would make these kinds of progress videos even better would be to add in some of your greatest "Flubs" and shaking your wrists out and saying "Ah Fudge my hands are hurting", cause without that it makes you look like youve played everything perfectly from day 1 and would also show just how much work goes into playing at this level. Youve clearly put in the work. Now might be a good time to throw away all you know about perfectionism so you can make mistakes and learn how to recover from them quickly and its way past time to start a band if you havent already and play in front of people and have a lot of fun and dont forget the have fun part. Dont worry bout mistakes, we all make them and peeps dont even notice them most of the time and if so,it will just make you look human and relatable. So go out and have fun and conquer the World
What the hell. I guess I shouldve seen it coming with you trying to learn Eruption in month 2, but holy shit. Ive been playing guitar on and off for 15 years, and youve done more progress in 1,5 years. Hats off, thats some serious dedication and natural skill.
Great job. My daughter is learning too. She started around christmas 2023. You are the only person who I have seen that is progressing as fast as she is. Id say she is about on your Nov 2023 level at 6 months in. You both are machines. Its fucking amazing. At a year and a half I couldnt even sniff the stuff you are doing. In fact I plan on showing her this video to motivate her to practice her scales more. She hates them but she is in the middle of a skill plateu currently. I dont want to turn her off from playing with me barking out practice orders so your video will hopefully trigger her competetive edge.
the feb 24 is when i saw your soul feel the guitar girl, you knew it was the instrument for you that day.. it became part of you.. better every time since too! been an acoustic guitarist for over 25 years now and i give my highest praises to your hard work and dedication.. you are faster than me by far, im mainly rhythm guitarist and your timing was great from very early on to top it all off.. good job for sure and never stop!
I have been playing for over 30 years ...yes I am 51 ;-) You make great progress and what is also good that you play same piece 'Eruption' so you can really see the progress. Guitar is easy to start and difficult to continue making progres on the way. For me it was in my 40ties when I noticed that picking economy as well as neck economy matters and since then I made massive jump. You have beautiful green Krammer guitar and have everything what it takes become really good guitar player. Also, your commitment to metronome playing will pay off you with your timing improvement. Good luck.

There are two groups of people reacting to your video. One group that's inspired and standing in awe of your amazing progress, and the other group that wants to throw their guitars away! Anyway, keep up the great work. If I can make a suggestion it would be to keep your fretting fingers closer to the neck. Go watch some videos by Rick Graham and notice his finger placement. His skill is something many guitarists aspire to.

Damn I hope to progress this fast. I am barely on my week 6-7 of playing now. Learned a few riffs and picking techniques. Now been practicing scales and chords. Remembering notes etc
How do you structure your practice sessions? I've been playing for 4 years but have had difficulties in how I approach focused learning, I usually just noodle too much. Mainly wondering how much time you spend per exercise and also how you go about upping tempo or duration/endurance?
@Diary.of.a.madwoman_x I'm down in Australia, my uncle taught me basic basic so I did with my two oldest sons and now, my oldest is playing like Insane stuff I never even played myself. You should be Proud, you've achieved a Lot and the time and the effort, pays off in the long run. From Smoke on the Water to what you're playing like now, you'll go a long way if that's what you really want to do 😎👌
I don’t know how much she practices daily but I will say most people set a restriction in minds that you should only practice x amount of time each day. I used to do this. 1 or 2 hours was really pushing it. But the truth is there is no universal law that says you can only practice so much. If you practice 12 hours a day, the police will not show up at your door and arrest you. No. We set limits on ourselves. But most famous musicians practiced insane amounts of time to get as good as they are. It’s fairly standard to practice 7 hours a day. You do this consistently and in 1 month you will improve more than the last 2 years of half assed playing. Ted Nugent’s band supposedly practiced 12 hours a day. Lynyrd Skynyrd started early in the morning and played until night. The Backstreet Boys were made to practice I think it was 12 hours a day. If you play guitar from morning until night you WILL get really good. But the first step is to remove the limitations in your mind.
Amazing progress! The only advice I could give would be lessen the motion of your fretting fingers when playing quickly. Only move as much as needed to clear the string for the next note to be able to sound cleanly, mainly economy of motion and effort. It could help you playing even faster, and minimize fatigue. Just a suggestion, nothing bad meant. Still, you're doing great! With how far you've come, I see you only improving and getting better. Keep that pick melting, the fretboard smoking, and keep on rocking!
Never rlly comment on progress vids haha but I’m in utter disbelief; Mindblowing, inspiring stuff! Congrats on your journey so far!! I myself am learning,, and trying to take it more seriously; How did you become so synchronized (w/ speed picking/fretting) if I may ask? Subbed🖤
Thank you so much!! For my picking I started learning exercises and licks and I would play them slowly with a metronome, so that once I had the muscle memory built up I could start to speed my picking up. Also when you alternate pick make sure you are using your wrist. I will do a more in depth video on alternate picking soon that will hopefully be helpful for you others. :)
You don’t get this kind of progress unless you are obsessed with practice, full stop. That’s what makes the difference. You have to cherish having the guitar out. Many still can’t make this connection.

Just a suggestion, nothing bad meant. Still, you're doing great! With how far you've come, I see you only improving and getting better. Keep that pick melting, the fretboard smoking, and keep on rocking!
OUTSTANDING! I need to practice more
So what advice would you give someone who just got a guitar?
tsym!! I’ll be looking out for the vid:))
Great video. I hope this inspires some people to keep practicing.
Did you learn music theory along with it?
I’m currently working on theory.
Beautiful keep up the good work !!
Thank you!!
You go girl! Insane progress! See what happens when we put the time in? 🙂
Thank you!!
You don’t get this kind of progress unless you are obsessed with practice, full stop. That’s what makes the difference. You have to cherish having the guitar out. Many still can’t make this connection.
Great job! You sound like you've been playing much longer than a year and a half!
Just blown away by your progress. What was your practice routine? How many hours/day did you practice?
Aww thank you!! I usually practice around 3-6 hours a day and I will make a video on my practice routine soon. :)
What’s your practice routine? You got pretty good!
January 24, I think you're progressing to the flight of the Bumble Bee quite nicely
good progress similar to mine but why did you learn taping before scales??
That’s how my teacher taught me, it doesn’t really matter too much anymore haha
Keep going ! so far so good !
Thank you!! 😊

I count 4 guitars in 18 months. Definitely got all the indicators of a serious guitarist!
