Actually have similar progress myself but I didnt record it sadly... I still am learning to this day and am working on forming my own band out of Dallas, Texas.
Nice, progress been playing 30 years, I can hear ya …I’m lefty pro level …but u inspired to learn righty ….this will be a challenge I’m going to document it as well …cheers
You’re so amazing!! Especially even at the second week I was definitely not that good second week. I was still trying to learn how to play an open chord 😂
I've seen progress before. My progress of playing was different when i discovered what tuning is i became good learner with poor equipment and now i can practice any song I'm trying but first started with hunting high and low by stratovarius, saxon strangers in the night note by note both songs and for soloing mother gaia by stratovarius again and some death songs the riffs only and some slayer as well. My trick to learn fast is read by before playing and with this i play with the backing track alone in my 4th year progress with fully equipped pedal board
@@Gameup2332popular songs like master of puppets have slowed down versions, just search master of puppets 80% speed or so. If you can play comfortable at that speed move up. For songs that dont have slowed down versions, just slow the song down yourself in youtube and practice that way. For me personally it is far more fun to play along to slowed down songs than to do down picking speed excercises.
I played a bit similar to your level after a year and half. Keep going it seems like it is coming natural. And if you’re pretty obsessed it definitely is easier.
Persistence but whatever you do pick up that guitar every day and play something, its when you go too long without playing it gets harder. Impressive progress 👏
@@laurynsguitar sweeping is actually not super hard! once you get your hands in sync and build the speed gradually its not that bad, ive been playing for almost as long as you and i got a hang of it, anyways your progress is great, dont give up!!
what’s a good metronome speed to start off with for sweeppicking? also do u have any videos on yt that you recommend for learning sweep picking! thanks :)
@@laurynsguitar i actually haven't really used a metronome for sweeping, the way i learned it is by taking the sweep sections from solo's and just learning that way! i personally used the solo from scream aim fire by bullet for my valentine and the sweeps from epitaph by necrophagist, as for tutorials, theres so many of them that its hard to name one, but an important tip i can give you is when youre practicing sweeps at a slow tempo, make sure you actually use the sweeping motion instead of plucking each string individually, hope this helps!
One of the best ways to get the accuracy is to practice a lot by palm-muting the strings and just practicing the picking hand with a metronome so that it really locks into the beat.
I take that as a compliment lol, I spent hours playing when I first picked up the guitar. I also play other instruments that might’ve been why I picked it up so quick
@@laurynsguitar when i first started playing bass i got similar comments but everyone learns differently! also its tough for some people to see it in terms of progress through the years, they think "oh ive been doing this for years longer than you but i cant play this! so youre lying!" how many hours playing per week is the important factor and youre definitely putting in the work! keep it up!!

Freaking awesome. Amazing progress in 18 months. Fade to black was first song i learned also 🤘
Awesome progress! I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to pick up a guitar after hearing Fade to Black 😎
That song does something to my brain! Had to learn it. My dad was so happy when I asked him how to play it lol

Nice! It got better really fast.
(I personally don't even remember a time I could not play the guitar, started at 4.)
Great work! I'm also on a similiar journey with almost two years now
Best of luck!
Hell yaaaaaaaaaaaa Ms. Hammett!

Thank you so much!! Best decision in my life was picking up the guitar, honestly don’t know what I would be doing without it

how did you practice downpicking to get up to speed
playing along to songs!
when i play along to song i can only go so fast i never can get up to speed well i can for every part of master of puppets except the spider riff

Thanks for the tips! Literally all I do haha. Wake up, play guitar, sleep, repeat

Self taught on piano since I was 7! After the guitar I picked up the drums and bass, but guitar I held the most interest in.

1000 percent on her second week I seen her fingers now way that’s 2 weeks of playing
