Should take thin clear case of it. Put heated plate underneath it. Face down solar panel on top, like lid...See if the panel gets charge from facing the oil with heat rising under it.

You're putting the lavender stems dry into the still? I'm just curious why dry versus not wetting them? I've seen soaking the stems so they're drenched and then packing it into the still. Is that not the right way or just a preference? What has been your experience?

Depends of your lavander geographic location, climate. I believe when 80% of flowers are fully open & in the hotest part of the day, when plant juice it's in peak
Why not just cut the bottom green parts of the plants off and only put the flower portion in it so you can fit more?

Why leave the stems
Why not just put the flowers into a pot of boiling water and then collect the oil floating on the top, after it cools down?
