    great video. I have a 2007 Honda Pilot with 239K miles and I am leaking enough oil to notice it on the ground. This will help me out a lot. Thank you once again for the "How To".

      MATT MUNOZ I just got a 2006 Ridgeline RTL from an estate sale. Dealer says drain plug is stripped so I need a new pan. They got me rolling again but said I’d need it replaced.
      Question: how deep were the threads on the new pan you installed? I’m betting that I could use a longer bolt on my pan; I’m betting not all of the threads are stripped, only the ones in the front of the drain hole at the depth of the short drain plug.
      Can you remember, approximately how many mm deep or part of an inch deep is the drain hole? 3/4 inch or so?

    I would like to know I have the same vehicle would you change what did you change the oil pump and is it easy to change the oil pump after you do before you put the new pan on is that possible thank you

    Thanks for the video. I have an '06 Pilot EX 4WD. I keep seeing info on the internet that says you have to drop the subframe to remove the pan. Do you know which models or years require this? I don't have a problem tackling this job if I don't have to drop the subframe in my garage.

    hello, im trying to replace a oil pan to a 2014 accord. i found a service manual telling me how to do it. But, theres 3 steps that Im not sure if i need to do which are
    1. remove side knuckle from lower arm
    2. remove left side damper fork
    3. remove left side drive shaft
    do I really need to do these steps?

    The shop manual procedure says to install the oil pan w/I 5 mins of applying the sealant bead. That will be difficult. Did you manage to do this? thanks

    I just did this job thanks to your video - however it is STILL leaking. Had a question about the 18 bolts around the oil pan. Some were different lengths than others. Is this normal? I am not the original owner, so I had no idea. The manual doesn't mention anything about this. Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of which ones went in each hole. Should they all be the same length?

    • @John-xeyvfkwieba
      @John-xeyvfkwieba Год назад

      Hi Shawn, this is two years too late, but I'm sure you figured it out! Basically all the right bolts (7,8,11, 12, 15,17) are the long ones, and the rest are the short ones. I had the very same question, but found out pretty quickly just by putting the bolts on the new pan before install. It does appear the left side bolts (9, 13,14,16,18) sit higher than the rest of them.

    My oil drain plug is 3x oversized, i bought it ,changed the oil, and said Dayum the oil plug isn't tight, so when I changed the oil and put it back in, I found out it was stripped, so I tapped it out , and now I can tighten it but I don't like it, and the pan leaks anyway, should I get a new pan, the plug doesn't leak??!!

    I can't get the harmonic balancer to seat flush with the crankshaft. Please advise. I had installed a new oil pump and installed all the pulleys and timing belt etc. Put the harmonic balancer back on and it isnt seating flush.

    So you showed that you need to remove the crossmember that goes from D to P side,what about the other cross bar that block the oil pan that goes from the front to that back? I need to do this because the Pan on my 07 pilot is leaking as well and I had a stuck CV axle on the drivers side.

    After you loosen the oil pan bolts is there any special trick to getting the pan down and clearing the frame on either side, especially by the oil filter?

    • @gregnixon1296
      @gregnixon1296 4 года назад

      Sadly, no, there is no special trick. It is an onerous task. One of the features on my next car will be the lack of difficulty in doing basic maintenance. I'm looking for that straightaway. Can I fix common things myself?

    I prefer a razor blade and and gently using the square soft thick 3M brownish red Skotch brite rust removal pads by hand to get the RTV off.

    I wonder if the stripped drain plug threads were caused by a monkey lube shop amateur.

      Most likely it was one of those shops. But the car is fixed now.
