  • Should I buy a Honda CRV or a Subaru Forester Touring? What is a Honda CRV Black Edition?
    In this video I compare two great crossovers, the 2020 Honda CRV Black Edition and the 2020 Subaru Forester Touring.
    If you are looking for a daily crossover with off-road capabilities, these two are great options, but which one offers the most? Which one offers the best cargo space, best in class passenger volume, best interior and most tech features.
    Special thanks for this video goes to Oakville Honda:

    One significant difference to me between the 2020 Forester and the 2020 Honda CRV is the IIHS Safety rating. Only the Subaru Forester achieved the coveted Safety Pick PLUS rating. Also, the 2020 Honda only rated 4 stars on the passenger side NHTSA safety ratings. May not be a big deal to some, but safety is the utmost importance in our family. If you don't completely care about your passenger....consider the CRV over the Forester. Also.... I do not believe a one camera safety mitigation system is as good as a two camera system like the Forester. It is always good to have redundancy built into safety systems.

    I have Both, 18 Honda CRV Touring and a 2020 Forester Sport ,Forester Does have Tire pressure display. The FOZ has Better heated seats, The HVAC is miles ahead of the Honda , Much colder air and much hotter heat and a lot quicker to heat. Comfort level in the FOZ is much better and has more legroom as well. The HK sound system literally embarrasses the Honda Premium sound . Fuel economy is identical on both, Cost of ownership on both is pretty identical except Insurance is much cheaper on the FOZ than the CRV at least 20% less. I prefer the normal sunroof in the CRV, i hate huge Pano roofs. I have had the Oil dilution issue on the CRV and i've owned many many honda and Acura's since 1994. This CRV was the worst one yet and will probably be traded before the year is out. Honda Denied everything in the beginning but months later fixed all the issues and threw in a lifetime warranty. Still damage is done and the HVAC is too weak for me in the winter.

    Subaru over Honda any day!! I think this guy is confused. He talks about the space in back but he fails to mention the Forester has a full size spare. The sunroof is huge in the forester as well. Yes you have to slide the cover back but that’s no big deal. I don’t hear him mention Adaptive cruse control, heated seats all around, heated steering wheel, Front electric seats. 10 way driver, 8 way passenger. How about driver recognition for 5 different drivers of that vehicle. I think by far it has the best CVT of Honda, Nissan. I would really like people to go drive a Subaru Forester before saying NO. It will surprise you how nice it will ride and how quiet it is. The only engine noise you really get is on acceleration but after that I quiets down a lot. Good luck and happy shopping.

      Our new Forester Touring is due to come in next week. I've studied every comparable model and it is the top pick for me. Biggest factors are resale, safety rating, mpg, and comfort/room. Forester is great in all categories. Had a good friend who got a new CRV and hated it. Traded it within 6 months and won't buy another.

    • @stephenmaurer156
      @stephenmaurer156 3 года назад

      @@kenroper3931 That sounds great. Don’t be afraid to put your foot down a bit. The engine noise at start up can be a little intimidating but once you get moving it quiets out a lot when you get going. I’ve had my car since June. 14,000 miles and have no real issues. Yes windshields are of some concern but stay away from dump trucks and those flat bed trailers that carry tractors (rock debris) and you should save your windshield for awhile. Make sure you have insurance for replacement. Subaru Will fix chips but that’s it. Unless you can talk SOA in to fixing for you. Wish you the best. Join 2019 Subaru Forester group on Facebook. I’ll look for you there! Just remember when you go there there are 180,000 Foresters sold each year.

    Two issues here, Subaru Forester DOES have a Tire Pressure Monitor, in fact it lists what pressure each tire has. And the Subaru comes with a Universal Garage Door opener with the automatic night rear view mirror/side mirrors package. In the States the CRV has a regular moon roof, the Subaru has an extended 2 position moonroof that pulls the shade out automatically. The only thing it does not do is pop up because of the size of the moonroof. The Subaru Forester also has pin code access. Let's say you're going kayaking and you don't want to lose your car keys you can deactivate the key, throw it in your car, lock it and unlock using the 5 digit pin code hidden in the rear trunk. I've had both the 2017 Honda CRV and the 2020 Subaru Forester. Forester is MUCH more of a joy to drive and less electrical issues (the brightness control went haywire and was never fixed in our CRV)

    Subaru dealbreaker: the pedals. They are set too high above the floor, and the center of the brake pedal is actually LEFT of the center of the driver's seat. Why? Why would they make you move your leg that far over to the left to press the brake pedal? I had a 2017 Forester and traded it in because it was so uncomfortable. Sitting at a stop light / stop and go driving was an awful experience. It looks like the pedals are similarly positioned in the latest Forester as well. Really a shame.

    Hmmm...do I want to be able to travel anywhere in comfort more safely and pay less money? Or do I want to have limited travel and risk my life a little bit more for more money? (oh yeah...self-leveling headlights. And the flat-earthers lost their minds! See?! PROOF! bwaaahahahahaha!). Also, start off the review with a criticism about eyesight tech issue that pretty much nobody talks about in any other review. Then bring out Honda's "special" edition, but not Subaru's "special" edition. Please. You could look at the title and know what was going to be done here.
    Proceed to get in the boot of the Honda (because that's what poorly dressed, middle aged men do for fun) and ducks head forward...followed by getting in the Forester with head pointed upward as much as he could while squatting (Honda: "Good job! We pay more now because Americans will know that they cannot have playtime in back of Subaru!"). WHOA! That made me change my mind! Because I'm an idiot who can't see you purposely banging your head on the opening!
    Honda's rain sensor...for all those times you didn't realize you couldn't see through your drenched windshield and got in a crash because you are too idiotic to flip a switch...or maybe you were just too busy chopping vegetables for dinner while driving and didn't bother to try to see through the windshield and got in that crash one time.
    "Now that I've covered everything you need to know about the two...". Conveniently forgets that Forester has symmetrical always-on all-wheel-drive, low center of gravity boxer engine, better ground clearance, higher safety rating, better resale value, higher owner retention (read: satisfaction), sales gains % outgaining competition, superior awd functionality (standard or x-mode), MUCH better visibility due to small pillars and higher windows, larger door openings, cloth and rubber mats, ...et cetera. BUT DON'T FORGET: the Honda has the lift gate sensor for when you just don't have the energy to lift the gate, but have loads of energy to climb in the back boot to show your kids how to have a good time while not wearing their seatbelt!
    Instructions from Honda: show the brand new engine compartment of Subaru, but throw mud on top of the engine first! "I like my seat lower, so lowering the Honda seat"..."The Subaru seat sits much lower, though". Oops. "The Honda doesn't bounce back and forth while on lane assist"....promptly experiences Honda bouncing back and forth while hands are off wheel and on lane assist...Honda: "blame it on the road lines!". Oh...and be sure to "forget" to review Subaru's Eyesight technology after Honda's failed when your hands were illegally off the steering wheel.
    Cheap reviewer with even cheaper review with an obvious paycheck from Honda.
