Come From Away

COME FROM AWAY is the breathtaking new musical that played record-breaking engagements in La Jolla and Seattle - and now it’s coming to Toronto prior to its Broadway run. On September 11th, 2001, 38 planes with 6,579 passengers were stranded in a remote town in Newfoundland. The locals opened their hearts and homes, and hosted this international community of strangers for a week - spurring unexpected camaraderie in extraordinary circumstances.
When the world stopped, their stories moved us all.

I was in high school during 9/11. I'm from Stephenville Newfoundland and we took in a bunch of planes as we have decent sized run way. Our schools closed, our hotels were full and lots of families took in people for the week. I remember volunteering and making hot dogs for lunch for some of the guests in our town. :) Makes me happy to see Newfoundland shown in such a great way. Hopefully I'll be able to make it down to see this!

Saw the show yesterday. Wonderful. Magical. Knew the story, but the play brings it to life in such a positive, yet wrenching way. Bless you, your family, and all who opened their homes and hearts to strangers.

Saw this in Washington DC at Ford's Theater.... you do NOT want to miss it!!!! Cannot say enough wonderful things about it. The 12 actors do an amazing job of playing over 100 characters, the action is non-stop with no intermissions, the music in original and carries you through the memories of a horrific time etched forever in our minds. Come From Away is a MUST SEE. I know I'll be back.
