Thanks so much for this! I deal with both of these. (Mostly hinging) I’ve been discharged from OT and am just doing home health/PT now. At my last OT appointment she told me to work on endurance… I neglected to ask her to elaborate. You’ve totally cleared that up. 😁
Does squeezing the shoulder blades and then relaxing (which is quite uncomfortable initially so they must have problems) both strengthen the back and stretch out the front? Wasn't sure if that one exercise was to strengthen your back?
Neck and upper back can also play a role in posture, for sure. I have some neck and shoulder stretches demonstrated in other videos on my page - check them out!
Thank you !!!!Now i understand the reason for my bad posture!
Such useful information as always, thank you Dr.Gretchen!!!
I'm so glad you like it! Thanks for the comment :)

At this very time of listening, I was having a 'croissant' or 'cashew' moment. It's a good reminder to sit up straight! Thanks for the reminder! Xx
Glad it helped!

It does strengthen the back, yes. And by doing both arms at the same time it does provide a small stretch for the chest muscles.
What about neck/upper back? Stretching shoulders makes my head feel like it's going forward??

I don't stand much... 😟
That's ok! Posture can mean both in a seated position as well as standing.
