Is exactly the utility that I was looking for, thank you very much. By the way, is it possible to assign a Revit model for manholes?.

Jeff, you are a Rock Star! Was this all just GIS data? What plat form did you bring it from?

InfraWorks should be an extra feature of Civil 3D.
CAD is becoming more 3D oriented. Being able to view Infrastructure in a more realistic 3D environment should be part of Civil 3D.
In another ten years, more or less, we will be viewing and designing in a 3D environment with VR goggles. It could be done now, but it will take some time for everyone to adapt.

Hi Jeff. Your video is extremely helpful. I have one question, how do you create the shapefile of pipe connector and lines? Is there a video talking about that? I tried to export shape file from a vanilla cad, but all i could get is just a 2D point, not a 3D object after I put them into Infraworks

    Hello Jeff,
I always learn from your video, your videos are very helpful. I am having trouble with coordinate system with Model Builder. How do I change the Coordinate system before download the infraworks model? Would you please give me a hint? appreciate your help. Thanks,

Tahera Yeasmin Hi Tahera, By default, the models created using model builder are assigned a Lat Long coordinate system. After opening model, visit “model properties” and you can assign the coordinate system of your choice. Hope this helps!

Hi Jeff, Thank you very much for your quick reply. I did exactly the way you explained here, but Infraworks works little finicky in my computer. I created two models followed by two methods as you explained in other video. One model from model builder and other one from scratch by using my own terrain-data and shape files. In model builder model I changed the coordinate system from LL84 (datum WGS84 lat long, which is a default coordinate) to my own coordinate system which is NAD83/UTM Zone - 14N and my pipe shape file falls underneath the terrain surface, but MHs are staying away high in the sky. but when I turn off the terrain layers, see just pipes and MHs, then pipe networks looks fine. On the other hand, the fresh new model was built from my own terrain dem data and imported the same shapefiles for pipes and MHs are working fine. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I really like to create my model from model builder, it looks prefect and save my tonnes of time and serve my purpose quickly. In future I can use this model in road and drainage projects. I was wondering is there any limitation for file sized or shapefile data? In my case, my shapefiles has 2600 pipes and 2600 + MHs. How many pipe segments and MH can be imported into the Infraworks model? I appreciate your thoughtful hints and help. Thank you for your time for creating all those helpful videos. Best regards,

Hi, the pipe networks from Civil 3D you must export to (Export Civil Objectsb to SDF) then use Map Import to import it in new file, select data properties to pipe and structute (Create Object Data) now, you can use Mao Export to export pipe SHP file and other Struxture SHP file. This SHP files is ready, you can import it from Map Task Pane in Civil 3D o into Imfraworks.
