Sir, you're so much LUCKY knows all these softwares on the fly. We're miles away from such kinda creativity... BTW God bless You (Amen)

Sir your this statement worth a 1000$. "Infraworks engine that models what we see on screen is essentially a gaming engine same principle so the objects are rendered all the time".

Simply amazing what you can do with this software. Can't wait to start working with this

I agree! The ease of use and ability to aggregate many forms of data makes InfraWorks a great tool for visualizing conceptual designs.

Sir also create a course on GIS. No one can make tutorials like you. Please make a comprehensive GIS course in Lynda.com. there are some of them but no one can teach like you. Please make a very good one like the one you created on C3D. Thanks

It's really Revit for public infrastructure isn't it? Cool. Really cool. But I'm afraid of it being more of a sales 3D generator than a real tool for construction. What we need is for these to be as accurate as possible and to be able to feed data into these models and choose its interaction with the geometry in the most intuitive, best way possible. Ideally we would get a component into this software that allows for the analysis of the terrain, underlying foundations annd structures. Because that's the real hard part of civil engineering I reckon. To build a road out in the desert you can do with a truck and a map with pencil drawings but to engineer a tunnel or a bridge, new road in the middle of a city without collapsing the nearby buildings, emptying the river, lake into your construction site, etc is a whole different ball game where this software won't be up to the task yet to be of much use I reckon. I love this but I also want it to be far more than a pretty, efficient 3D generator. Which I'm sure it is already but if it could really become Revit, some form of BIM standard full of accurate data for civil engineering that would be fantastic. Imagine being able to just import site survey data and the Revit models of the surrounding buildings to be able to directly see and calculate your needed factors of safety, fault lines/pressure points and all the associated piping and cables that surround your project. Generating and modify details from this. This would have enormous impact. The digitalisation of all this infrastructure work really could be an amazing revolution with massive gains. I work as a draftsman for a big telecom company doing mostly roadworks and the cost associated with inefficiencies, oversights, mistakes in this area and the amount of laborious communication and planning involved is really enormous. With this sort of digitalisation, if accurate, we can really save hundreds of millions of $ from the speed of being able to assess infrastructure work and contact the necessary involved parties to changing plans and just having a much better picture of what we are doing. A great deal of mistakes can be avoided with a fully digitalised, 3D component of public infrastructure. From what I read in these comments we can only draw the components and export them to other software for civil engineering I think this Infraworks package should become part of Autocad map3d or revit. Well I think those 3 should really be onne Autodesk product of which you can just use certain functions. The Autodesk product lineup really is convulted and unnecessarily fragmented. The software in itself is mostly very potent and great but then it is ridiculously expensive. We need these sorts of tools. I would love the topographic terrain generation to become a part of the geolocation feature in Autocad. It looks to me right now like every time some new features are desired they make a new program instead of adding the feature to the existing lineup, programs. Then in the new programs a great deal of features and user developed macro's, add-ons are lost. If Autodesk just started reducing excessive stable of seperate programs to focus on centralising all the features in a single or a few programs. Then MAYBE they could justify the 5000$ a year RENT of a piece of software. But I ramble. Great video. TY

Hi Jeff, this is a nice video tutorial. Thank you. Just to confirm, can I use Infraworks for prelim design without the need to use other AutoDesk software (AutoCAD or Civil3D)? Or do I need the other suite products too during that initial phase of a project? Educating myself and deciding if I need to buy the suite or just IW. Thanks again.

All of the geospatial data and imagery was obtained from city, county, and state websites. If you are looking for free GIS data, many universities will also make content available online. With a little investigation, you'll be amazed at what you can find.
