      @@tanishreddygottimukkula4922 Yeah even not being a big of the 75% form factor I think if I had to choose between the two I'd go for the Zoom 75 since it it does it's one mounting style (isolation gasket mount) decently well. I watched Apiary's stream when she built the 65 & some of the mounting styles seemed on the edge of unusability like the magnetic levitation mount.
      That said I don't think the Zoom 65 is a bad keyboard by any means. I'd just expect it to not be a great example of any of the mounting types & not have the best sound since it got so much going on under the hood.

    Looks like it has some cool customization, but I would also like to see it in a 75 version. As a (only slightly bitter) Zoom75 owner, I would say most people don't have to worry about having too many options. If it's like most of Meletrix's other boards, the whole group buy nonsense means 90% of the options will be sold out for eternity, or locked into panicked group buys from 3rd party sellers where stock evaporates in a couple hours.... oh, and the $20+ shipping for an $8 part if you have to buy direct.
    I bought the Zoom75 partially because of all the customization I was looking forward to playing with. So far after owning it for a close a year I have managed to get a single backplate I wanted to try. Every other thing I want is sold out always from any vendors I can find at least, including direct from Meletrix. I got the E-white version and the knob came damaged. I still don't have a replacement as the E-White knob has never been in stock anywhere. Even emails to Meletrix directly were just "it's out of stock." Maybe if you're used to or enjoy the group buy game it's fine, but I feel like there should be a PSA NOT to count on customizing your board with anything that doesn't come with it.

      I’m sceptical about its benefits though. It seems that when you press hard it will collapse and crash into the opposite magnets which is not a soft dampened feeling. The magnetic force is also not linear (it’s getting stiff way too quickly as you apply pressure). I wish this mount was explored more in this video.

      Especially with such a small amount of room between the PCB & bottom case like this has. In fact watching Apiary's stream the other day she pointed out something really important that applies to almost all of the more recent budget boards like this. Almost all of them come with serval mounting styles, most of them to make the typing experience very soft, flexible, & bouncy. Yet none of them give enough space between the PCB & bottom case to allow for the movement they have. Then to make it even worse they all want you to use foam to fill that little bit of space you have for movement essentially neutralizing any & all benefit you'd get from a more flexible, bouncy mount.

    • @Keybored
      @Keybored  4 месяца назад +2

  • @bj0rnen

    I use a Mac, which doesn't make as heavy use of navigation buttons as Windows/Linux and prefers other keyboard shortcuts for those functions. Also, when I have my Mac hooked up to my external monitor and speakers, most of the F row functions are useless as well. So, with trying to get as small of a keyboard as possible, I end up with two choices: a 65% with a knob that I program to switch tracks and play/pause music rather than control volume, or a TLK FKL where I remap some of the navigation buttons to control my music. So when it comes to 65% keyboards, I think I would go with a Zoom65 with knob over a Neo65, but if throw in a Neo70 then it becomes a serious contender. Between the Neo70 and the Zoom65, which do you think might be better? Also, are there any other good TKL FKL keyboards out there? Most of the ones I've seen are either crazy expensive or much less convenient to customize than the Neo70.

    • @bj0rnen
      @bj0rnen 4 месяца назад

      I also forgot to mention that I would prefer to have my next keyboard support a stepped caps lock key because I tend to hit the full sized one accidentally a bit too often, and I also like to remap the caps lock key to esc and accidentally hitting esc can be worse than accidentally hitting caps lock. Zoom65 and Neo* keyboards do support it AFAIK.

      This PCB is thin and has cuts so yeah, it’s flexible. The missing fact is that with the top mount it’s probably much LESS flexible when you press the keys closer to the edges of the board than in its center (the edges are fixed with screws, right?). I definitely would not like to have such major difference in the flex… top mount is supposed to be stiff and very stable.

    so your not the only one guilty of saying this but, I hate when people say "1.6 for better sound" from a hobby that heavily relies on preference they're is really no way to say "better sound" and don't get me wrong I'm not a "1.2 flexcut foam simp". I love 1.6 without foam and foam and 1.2 flexcut boards offers a sound you just can't get from a 1.6. obviously I'm not alone in liking 1.2 foam builds but I don't want it to be pushed out as an option.

    All of that for a...mid/average sound
    It's a pass for me. The price isn't competitive with other boards that actually sound good like the neos

    Maybe it's just me but I find the design of the Zoom 65 rather ugly. It looks chunky.
    Also, you can't do most of the combinations because they're based on the colors, weights, and badges.
    The only real meaningful things are the mounting methods and plates.

      Keep in mind it's the 1.2 mm with flex cuts. The 1.6mm with no flexcut and a carbon fiber will sound wildly different than this

    • @minhquanvu2944
      @minhquanvu2944 4 месяца назад +1

      Because he is using 1.2mm with flex cut. This board offers much more customizable features than the Neo65.

    • @Keybored
      @Keybored  4 месяца назад +1

      They essentially send me everything to emphasize flex and not sound with this sample. But I do agree that the neo boards do focus more on the core basics like sound, where this is full on customization

    Just like every other zoom board they give these guys boards to review but never produce them. These “keyboard influencers” need to learn when to say no.
