To change the filter you have to dismantle the trans remove the valve body and separate the bell housing, it's not an easy job, in the end it's best to have a trans fluid replacement service where they attach a machine to the trans cooler and removes all the fluid then replaces it with new fluid, this only remove a fraction of what the trans holds.
Thank you so much for this video bro. When I changed the transmission fluid on my 2018 Forte though, I didn't even go by that gauge because it started leaking out before I even re-plenished half of the fluid I drained out. I would advise anyone to measure what they took out, and put exactly that same amount of new fluid back in.
Quick Tip. For the 2018 model and I imagine later, the shifter linkage shown in the picture at 9:45 minutes is slightly moved over to cover the fill plug. You need to remove the two 10 mm bolts and wiggle it counter clock wise to be able to pull the plug out, same thing putting it back. Other solution is have someone move the shifter in the car and have them stop when it clears the plug. Also the fill plug has 2 grooves on it and must line the 2 grooves with the 2 plastic nipples inside the fill hole then twist it locked. Kinda flimsy.
Thanks for commenting on this. I had the same problem with my gf's 2017 Kia forte, that shifter linkage or whatever gets in the way of being able to remove the fill plug. I wasn't sure what it was and didn't know if I would mess something up by removing the bolts and moving it out of the way. Do you take it out or do you just loosen the bolts to try and move it out of the way some?

Auto zone requires 7.5 liters so to big jugs of valvoline automatic transmission fluid. Put in half then run the engine and transmission for a little while, then let it cool down a little while drain it again then all the new transmission fluid should have pushed out the old , so by the second drain only the old transmission fluid should be coming out. Then refill with the second jug of new transmission fluid to finish the job.

Your drain plug is a 24 millimeter. Not 15/16th. There are no standard bolts on a Kia. Also by simply draining it and not flushing it, you've only changed about half the fluid. Better than nothing but this could potentially leave some of those metal flakes in your fluid.
