Interesting talk about the teaching techniques. My first teacher was all about the "40 Rudiments" and I hated that rubber plate. After two years, my parents gave me a "real drumset" and it was amazing. Looking back, the rudiments teaching was extremely helpful, but I miss all of the Jazz parts.

This was super informative! Thanks so much for all the info! Really loved the talk about dynamics, brushes being a texture choice not a dynamic choice!

Nice kid. And yeah, it was so refreshing to hear that he digs Wilcoxon.
Funny how kids are surprised that there were no LED lights “back then.” What’s next? Are they going to tell me they’ve never used (or seen) a rotary dial phone? Pffft! (The scary part is that it just means we’re _really_ getting old.)

Hilarious. I guess I forgot to study the history of lightbulbs and telephones before doing this interview!
