Drinker of Tattinger champagne and driver of some of the greatest cars ever. The deep voice with that touch of British charm that was one part Macgyver one part Hugh Hefner. It's just not the technical delivery of the song by Ms Bassey that sets this song on fire. It is also the emotion from Shirley Bassey that is dripping from the lyrics. It sounds as if she herself was once one of the girls who fell in love with Goldfinger but found out too late that he loved only gold. She sounds like she is sincerely warning others. It's too late for her she cries out, but for those behind her beware.

Please dont forget the glorious Goldfinger, Gert Fröbe, who founded the german villains in Bond movies.

    • @gunterangel
      @gunterangel Год назад +1

Munich is the town in Bavaria/Germany, where Gert Fröbe lived the last 30 years of his life and where he's buried too.
He died in 1988 by a sudden heart attack just after having successfully fought tongue cancer, that threatened him to loose his tongue, a fate his doctors were luckily able to save him from.
As a matter of fact Fröbe was initionally very reluctant to accept the offer to play the role of "Goldfinger",
since by the time he'd just played quite a row of villain roles in German and French films and he really feared to be typecast as a villain for the rest of his career.
In an interview Fröbe once told,
that even his old mother was not amused, even shocked about the kind of men, he had recently played in a row.
He reported her having said to him:
"Oh, boy ! What did you do there once again...?!" 😁
He had to be convinced by his agent and actor colleaques, who told him, that playing the title role in a James-Bond-movie could be his big chance to gain international recognition and to make an international career as a movie actor, and so he accepted the offer.
The last point persuading him was, when the producers told him ,
they had offered the role to Orson Welles , who had declined.
Fröbe was an great admirer of Orson Welles and had made a movie with him in France a few years earlier .
      He would play again with
      Welles shortly after "Goldfinger"
      in "Paris, is it burning?".
And so "Goldfinger" became his most famous movie character and the role, for wich he's best remembered until today.
In Germany he is considered as one of the greatest German character actors of the twentieth century ,
both in the movies and on stage !
He was ( apart from romantic roles of course 😁) very versatile and was as great a comedian as he was a great villain .
Check for instance his role as Colonel Manfred von Holstein in "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flyin' machines",
a comedy , where he played a Prussian officer in an fictional aviation race, that took place in England in 1910. ! 😷👍
A movie he made in GB at the same time he played in "Goldfinger".
He is absolutely hilarious in it and stole the whole picture imho, and that in an all-star-cast.! 😷👍

My favorite Bond film featuring Sir Sean Connery, he will always be Bond to me, R.I.P. Sean Connery. On another note the song Goldfinger gives me goosebumps every time I watch it, the intro and theme are just outstanding!!
