Apparently the secret service is still spread very thin. One reason is the Trump extended family all get secret service protection and as billionaires they fly all over the world. Agents are burning out and being poached by rich people and corporations left and right. Plus with the explosion of technology and the loosening of regulations threats are exponentially increasing. And of course anyone can get hold of AR’s if they can afford one or borrow one after being wound up by all the conspiracies flooding the country. The Secret Service recently got much needed funding but the number of agents needed are still being trained.

I guess it really shows how bad the city was after all for the fact you feel that you need to come out and give a speech on how well you're doing handling this. Is it not a general expectation and your jobs to handle this and keep the city safe. They literally burned flags in the middle of large crowds and broke through boundaries that clearly were not negotiated and approved on both sides, as their routes of protest- all on camera. That is violent, and intimidating so they were dealt with accordingly. Not all were like this, as most werent but some were and those are the ones who were dealt with accordingly.
