We always eat this with heads, tails and shell still on the shrimp ! Usually served this way in Chinese restaurants and with jalapeño slices added ! Delicious...
I love the way you cook and now I'm doing a cabbage dish without the recipe .Because of you I'm not afraid to try Asian dishes .I'm your number one fan .It's just the way you explain so clear I'm a great cook now .
I made these tonight. They were so good!!! If it wasn’t for the grinding of the salt and pepper it would be so easy to make too. This was so good it was well worth it. I made plenty of extra salt and pepper! 👍🏻👍🏻. Thank you for great recipes and great instructions!
Thanks, totally agree that it is not practical to deep fry at home, will try out your method today, like your style of teaching, clear and bilingual too, thank you!
I love cooking Chinese cuisine and I usually make Sichuan as I LOVE the spiciness. I tried this tonight as an appetizer and it was a hit! I loved it too. Very refreshing! During the uncertain times, your videos bring me excitement and comfort, so thank you very much! Hope you’re safe and healthy!
ChineseHealthyCook Please do because I got addicted!! Each of your dishes is so delicious! I Love to discover Sechuan cuisine, so diverse and balanced!
Your recipe looks so delicious and easy and doesn't have fancy ingredients. I always ate salt and pepper shrimp at my favorite restaurant years ago but when they left the shell on I stopped eating it because I didn't like peeling off the shell, too messy even though it was still delicious. I will try this recipe at home. TFS! 🥢
During this trying times and being locked down I have become hyper sensitive to loud noises. Your video is so soothing. I have made 4 of your recipes and now my husband expect me to cook him Chinese food every day since he’s working from home. Thank you so much for such healthy recipes. They are so delicious and easy to make.I watched another video that tells me all the sauces and spices that I need. I went to an Asian food market and broke the bank but I am ready.
I've never had this, but just a few days ago I was eating at a local Chinese restaurant, and the person at the table next to us ordered this, and it looked so good. I will for sure try this! Thanks!
Used to be this joint called Dave Wong's where I grew up. Peppered shrimp was a secret dish they served not listed on the menu. I've been waiting 17 years to taste it again, this dish is *exactly* like it. Thank you!
I see a lot of salt and pepper shrimp recipes with the head/shell of the shrimp, fabulous taste but it gets really messy during dinner. I like this recipe better cause it uses a more robust Shichuan peppercorn and all the shells are removed. More taste, less mess, I love it, thank you!
One of my favourite dishes! I can't wait to try this lighter, healthier version. Was also thinking that some cut, dried chilli could add an extra kick, for those who - like me - appreciate a bit of extra heat.
Hi Ling. I made a similar dish earlier this week. It was good. Tonight I prepared beef bok choy with thin carrots in hoisin sauce. The family loved it. I always prepare meals with fried rice cuz I want to stick with Chinese restaurant tradition.
@@ChineseHealthyCook Hi Ling. I called my dish, Shrimp with diced colored peppers in oyster sauce. All my dishes contain onions and sometimes add white pepper but it's never mentioned in my titles. I do not add salt cuz my body does not respond well to it. If my lips starts to burn a little, that's the reason why. I've noticed Chinese restaurants add too much salt. In my Chinese cooking at home, none is added. I enjoy Chinese home cooking more than ever. Maybe you can make a bok choy dish like mine in a future video. Oh I've subscribed to notices so I won't miss anything from you. Thanks Ling.
Lets not get harried in these forums, its not nice or smart . Just enjoy Ling's Wonderful recipes and cooking . I lived in Singapore in the 80' these delicious plates of foods brings back memories of a special time.
Looks delish!! So hungry now. Im frm NY and would order this sometimes from Chinatown. So good!! Would you be able to post a recipe for Almond Cookies like you get from bakery at Chinatown? I absolutely love them. And Im in an area now that does not do authentic chinese cooking.
This is easy and fast. Nuoc Mam Cham Ingredients: 1 cup (8 oz) water 1 cup (8 oz) 7up (or Sprite) 3 Tbsp fish sauce (nuoc mam) 1 Tbsp lemon (or lime) juice 1/2 tsp chili paste Simply mix. Yields: 2 1/4 cups

SpookyBaba She was just giving her opinion and support. Ling could have ignored it and written nothing. Don’t find the bad in everything. 🙄

Salt & pepper shrimp is soooo good. Had a restaurant in NJ that had the absolute best recipe for shrimp and calamari.
This is a great recipe for shrimps, I’ll make it for sure, thanks.

Yes, this is my home version, easier to make and eat 😊
Love just simple salted prawn , complete prawn shell on , marinated in a salt brine and fried.
OMG, I order this dish at least once every week or two, and I love it! I was wondering how they made it. Now, I can make my own. Thank you so much!

Hello Mrs. Ling! This is one of my favorite dishes 😁

Salt and Pepper Squid is wonderful too,can it be made the same way as your shrimp or does squid require deep frying. Thanks for all the great recipes.
You can try with squid. Enjoy!

Looks so easy and I am sure it taste delisious...wish can get the Schechuan peppers here in Malaysia...Thank you..
No Sichuan peppercorns in Malaysia? You may order online or use black peppercorns 😊
ChineseHealthyCook Thank you..taste would definitely be different right, between the two...I used to replace it with chilli flakes...
Thank you! I’m not a baker and have to learn more 😆
How is szechuan pepper different from black peppercorn?
Sichuan peppercorn has tingly numbness (in Chinese “Ma”) and is not as pungent as black peppercorn 😊
Thanks for the lovely lesson.
Thank you 😊
Awesome !! I like the idea of not having a huge pool of oil to fry the shrimp
Deep frying takes a a lot oil, doesn’t it? 😊
Will try it on Sunday. Tomorrow. thanks
Enjoy your Sunday dinner 😊
Looks delicious! I'm adding this to my list of things to make.
Just curious, but can shrimp be substituted for chicken or other proteins?
Yes, you may slice chicken and cook the same way. Please let me know how it turns out😊
Looks wonderful - as usual - I shall try this soon, although I will add some hot chili too! Thank you ZL!👍🙏
Yes, you can make it spicy. Hope all is well, RG 😊

Great, thank you for the recipe !
Thank you 😊
Yum! Thanks 😃

Can the salt-pepper seasoning also be used for squid and pork spare ribs?
Yes, it can also be used for seasoning too 😊
do you have to sift the peppercorns? i've never seen that before
I did. Did you miss the sifting part? 😄
So easy.. nice.
Isn’t it easy? Thank you 😊
Lovely recipe, but you seem to have missed out the shrimp coating part. Cornflour and ice cold water?
I coated with starch, didn’t I? 😄
@@ChineseHealthyCook So you did! Sorry. I must have been pouring a beer!
PS. Thanks for sharing. I'll be cooking this tonight. But just plain with a sweet chilli dipping sauce.
Nice thank you I’m going to try it ❤️
Please try. Thank you 😊
