Funnily enough, bouncing off MH a few times is a normal part of getting into it.

yeah I tried MH freedom unite when I was in Japan and saw it on the trains a lot, then MH Tri, but it didn't click until MH4U that is when I fell in love with it

5:32 Is Kyle talking about the Levi beyblade attack for Dual Blades on bigger monsters? Then yes it is a thing, I believe it debuted in MH: World.
I think Monster Hunter is a fascinating game, you can play as brain dead or cerebral as you want. You can hit air all the time as a Dual Blade user, or have the most coordinated dance where you anticipate where a monster, and more specifically a monster's weakspot, will be after it does specific moves to deal big damage with a Great Sword charged slash.
It's a game where rolling with the punches is just how you learn. I got a lot of time in the series, and I still flail about like a headless chicken.

Yeah I had to have my friend sorta hold my hand to help me understand MonHun because holy crap it's so dense and sorta throws you in a deep end of information and chaos that isn't really GREAT for making you wanna stick around. But now that I understand it I actually have a BLAST with my friends! It really is a fun as heck game I just wish it was easier to onboard.

speaking as someone with over ten years of monhun experience, the games have absolutely terrible onboarding and education, every last one. That's some crossover with ff14 in that they rely on word of mouth and user guides to really teach the specifics that the game itself struggles to communicate.

Funny enough, Jocat has weapon guides for your weapon choice needs. Outside that, Gaijinhunter is a good person to rely on for the basics

I mean, i just kind of plaued the game and just slowly learned as i went. I dont need to understand absolutely every single game mechanic the moment i start the game.

Reach out to Josh & Cotton(Ragegaming) and Rurikhan. They are beacons of positivity in the Monster Hunter community.

I agree, as far as RageGaming goes, the basic "guardian angel" experience Kyle is looking for can be offered. I would also suggest Jocat, because he's a good boy and they know him.
