    In some parts of the video you will see a guy sitting wearing a cowboy hat. The guy in the cowboy hat led the country band that played there every weekend. That guy was a great guitar player and a Radio DJ at KIKK radio in Houston, before they change the call letters to Kikk. The guy in the hat was my dad. He came home talking about how the women went crazy over this very young, very polite kid. He said Elvis always said Yes sir or No sir.

      @@LennyBruce212 Dad said they booked Elvis for only $300 for the weekend. A short time later Elvis was getting hot so Magnolia Gardens contacted Colonel Parker to get him back. Parker said great, but it would cost $3,000. That was too much, so MG said no. But Elvis was getting so hot that one month later they decided to say yes to the $3 000. When MG called back to book him again, they well told his fee had doubled to $6,000 in one month. They never got him back.

    It's filmed at Magnolia Gardens on August 7th 1955. At the time it was discovered it was the earliest known footage of Elvis, but there is earlier film since that has been found including some from April 1955 and May 1955. There is no footage of Elvis and Buddy Holly together. There is film of Elvis which includes Holly filmed at a later date but they never appear together on film at the same time. One of the songs that appears to be being sung is That's All Right and in another segment Blue Moon Of Kentucky. Another short clip could possibly be Good Rockin' Tonight.

    He's just a boy ! No fancy jacket or anything. Just his daily clothes. By the way, there were only three of them at this time : Elvis, Scotty and Bill. D.J.Fontana came later. When they went to the Grand Ol' Opry (Elvis' dream, since he considered himself country) the manager there told Phillips when he saw them : " I want the whole band, like on the record you sent me". But that was the whole band, just the three of them. The guy couldn't believe these three alone could make such a racket. Of course, he bombed at the Opry. Nobody knew what to make of this kid in a pink suit singing that "weird" music !

    True enough... Elvis was raw. But look at the video of "Shoppin' Around" in 1960's GI Blues. When the music breaks -- same move -- Elvis goes straight for the pants. He is smoother... but he's pulling at his pants at the peak too...

    This is sometime before D J Fontana joined...it's also 1954 and well over a year before that asshole Parker got his grubby hands on Elvis...not the film maker's mistakes but whoever's responsible for the VO.

      "...Jim and Lois Robertson trying out a new 8mm home movie camera with color...;" problem is the month is in discrepancy between April, August & December, but video says Magnolia Gardens Houston April 24th ruclips.net/video/6CgZh-v4WlE/видео.html definitely was 1955

    Other uploaders, including family of the person who took this film, have said this is from August 7, 1955, which would not make it the earliest footage since he was on Louisiana Hayride in 1954. Why didn’t you credit the originator?

    • @carolhayar3037
      @carolhayar3037 Год назад +1

      it is 1955 but there is video that says it's April 24; but it's a matter of color film, not just film; was the Hayride filmed in color? if not, then this footage would be the 1st color

    The date on this video has to be wrong. Elvis didn't even buy his Martin D 28 guitar until the second part of 1955 according to Scotty Moore. Scotty is also no longer playing his Goldtop ES 295 and has an L5. This has to be after July 1955 which actually supports the comment about this being six months before Elvis started recording with RCA (first Nashville session in January1956). Anyone else confused by the 1954 date like I was?

      I agree with the comment that this film was not shot in 1954, because Scotty is playing a Gibson L5. He bought the L5 in July 1954.

      Typo. I meant to say Scotty bought the L5 in July 1955, not 1954.

      Doubtful. Elvis and his family (and their friends) lived in low income housing until he started making money as a singer, and simply wouldn't have had the money for a movie camera, film, processing, and a projector. A performance this early, in color no less, is an incredible find.

    This is not 1954 , Scotty still played his es295 .July 7 1955 is when Scotty got this L5.

    Scotty has his new Gibson he's playing, he didn't get that Gibson until around July 1955 , so I don't know how this films from 1954
