For my struggling to read son, the abeka “Reading Handbook” sequence made a huge difference. It’s very similar to the original Noah Webster style blend phonics. It teaches one initial consonant blended with all short vowel sounds first, and later in the program teaches one consonant blend at a time, practiced with each vowel. Where will your older kids go after beast academy?
@@lize7665 I had one child in AOPS Pre Algebra but he was taking forever to get through the lessons. We recently switched to Thinkwell Algebra for my two older kids and it’s been a great fit. I opted for the live teacher coaching sessions and that was huge to get the help we needed to make progress!!!
Hello from Canada! Great update, thank you. This is my first year homeschooling, and I’ve watched a lot of your videos over the past 2 years getting ready. Last year for kindergarten we went with the CMEC, which was a complete disaster for me. I was not prepared to basically design the curriculum schedule myself, and was very upset. We are still using Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, but I picked individual curriculum packages for grade 1, and that has been much better for us. I am still considering using the CMEC in the future, but I still don’t feel confident I the amount of time it takes to plan. I’d appreciate any advice you have as a seasoned homeschool mama!! Happy December and Merry Christmas 🎄!!
@@StrawberryFields-1 I’m so sorry to hear this! To dip your toe in you could use CMEC as teacher training only and use the boxed curriculum that works for now. Easy steps. Keep it simple- add one new thing at a time
Have you looked into Little Seedlings Press’s reading program? Its genius! So simple and it’s the only thing that worked for my late bloomer reader (tried TYCTR100, AAR, Alpha Phonics, Happy Cheetah and other resources).
@@AmandaNevins_4 yes! I need to do an update because I found a local tutor who teaches it 🤯 I taught it last year and found her as I was looking for options for my high schooler! I’ll post an update about it!
I always love your videos! They are so informational and encouraging. I’m curious about your co-op…I direct a somewhat large co-op, and it is so draining for me, all of the prep, planning, and just dealing with so many people. I’m feeling led to close it or scale way back. I just want to focus and pour into my own family. It has become more a burden than blessing.
@ I will make a video about our two-family co-op- we are two large families so it’s been nice to keep it simple and if we get sick we can just skip a week with no stress!

Happy Cheetah is a game changer for kids who struggle in reading.
@@GayleGuy-g9z I haven’t heard of this thank you for sharing!
