Glad to see you reaching out to help people navigate the job application process through this informative and motivational video. I especially liked what you said at the end about the need to keep applying. Very inspirational, and it was something I needed to hear. Thanks, Frank! 👍

    Hi Frank,
Stumbled upon your video and had a question. Made it through the application process and even all second language requirements earning a BBC. I’m not in 3 pools for AS-01 as an external candidate. It’s been a couple months now since I’ve been in these pools and I guess I’m wondering if there’s anything I should do from here? Should I keep applying? Should I be reaching out to anyone? Just starting to lose hope at this point, as I feel like I’ve done everything right to get to where I am now. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

      Hey, thanks for reaching out.
First, good on you for applying to multiple roles. I would continue applying for other pools/roles, while waiting for the results from your previous applications. The results (aka. the recruiters reaching out) are out of your control unfortunately - only thing you can control is your willingness to apply. Keep your heads up, when applying into the public sector, it's a LONG waiting game. Best to almost 'detach/forget' IMO to give you peace of mind moving forward. You got this!

Hi Frank, Thank you for this video. I have a question. When I apply for jobs, I always choose only full-time permanent tenure. But I wonder if selecting all the options, like Temporary 3-6month and the rest, gives me more chances to get a job? If the department wants to hire someone for a year, with a possible permanent offer after a year, they will skip me if I didn't
Select a one year term option, right? Just wonder if I'm missing out on opportunities. Thank you!

Hi. I personally agree with your approach of only selecting permanent positions (under the assumption you're already holding a job). Sure, you may have a better shot applying to both perm + temp positions, but IMO - rather just select what you want, which sounds to be a perm. position. Hope it helps, but it really depends on your circumstance. Thanks!
