So beautiful 😍!!! I just watched the countertop video you linked in the description. What a fabulous result! Thank you for sharing your skill and expertise! 😊
Amazing. Like I've said before, I never cared much for watercolors BUT, y'all have shown me the light! Alcohol inks can be similar to watercolors but I think they are so much more intense. Thank you.
WOW! I loved your Alcohol Ink piece, however, that counter top is a stunning piece of artwork. The colours looked so rich and vibrant. Just gorgeous 😍♥️💐
Is sooo relaxing to watch ya do AI's thank ya for all ya teach & share w/ us Clara!! 💖💖 that piece ya shared at end sooo Beautiful such amazing colors.. 💕✌🏼😁
Thanks. I thought it would be good to show the process of working with a commission. Sometimes you have to test the colors out and approve it though the client.
I use an embossing gun, they are very hot compared to hairdryer so not great for yupo and have a more concentrated airflow. I love it because I work on wood and aluminium. This is beautiful clara 💜💜
Thanks. I bet you are a lot like me. Once you figure out how to wield the embossing gun like a brush, it is hard to change the tool. Aluminum, must try that.
Hi Clara, love this. I wonder if you can do a experiment trying this on a countertop that has ultimate top coat on it? My countertops are turning yellow and I can't do another 2 layers of resin and thought this might be a idea.
If you have the ultimate top coat on your countertop that is meant to be the last step. You don't want this alcohol dye technique as the last step, because it will be fragile to damage. If we do this on countertops, this will be part of your color layer with a clear flood coat of epoxy on top and then UTC.
@@cheriecrews6327 Amber vs yellow. Yellow will be a bright yellow and is the result of a chemical reaction with a colorant or product that didn't work with the resin, ambering is a much fainter aging of the resin. If you want to proceed with the alcohol dyes, this is what I would recommend. Sanding off the UTC and you have to get all of it off or the resin will not bond properly. When you have gotten to the epoxy layer, continue sanding up to about a 1000 grit. This will get it to a smooth finish for alcohol dyes otherwise they find the thin grooves. You can test this out by adding a tiny drop with a little alcohol and see how it moves on the surface. If you see sanding lines, then continue up the finer grits until it doesn't show. (If you want to avoid the all the extra fine sanding, you can apply a thin coat of just clear epoxy on your surface and let it cure for 24 hours. It will be smooth and ready for your alcohol dyes) Let's say the fine sanding is there and you can't see the lines with the test. Clean off your surface with alcohol and remove all the dust. Apply your alcohol dyes and let dry for several hours. Test any darker areas with a paper towel very gently dabbing to see if a lot of color comes off. If it is a tiny amount you are fine. Seal with a clear coat, then apply a flood coat of just clear epoxy then proceed to UTC as normal. I would not recommend going alcohol dye and then UTC on top with nothing in-between.
This is beautiful! BTW, we met at Tammy's class on Saturday - I sent you a message on Instagram asking for more info about your class (I'm not on Facebook). I can't wait to hear more. My fingers are crossed that it works with my schedule!
Hi Clara. Slowly getting into this medium, so thank you for the videos. Can you please let me know what you used that you taped off of blue tape for your sample piece?
You are very welcome. There are quite a few videos on this medium for you to browse. The blue tape is simply blue painters tape. (It was what was available in the shop at the time) Basic scotch tape works fabulously on the yupo papers and leaves a nice clean line.

My counters have yellowed and they have UTC. I just wondered if alcohol ink on top, then another coat of UTC would work

Hello. Got your message and I will let you know. Currently working on specs.
@@ClaraLawrence wonderful, thanks!
This is so beautiful! You are so talented! Was that Yupo paper you were using?
Thanks so much. Yes, that was. And the final product was on a countertop.
@@ClaraLawrence I’m watching the countertop video right now. Just amazing!!

Do I have to epoxy a marble counter top before alcohol painting it?
what are the bottles you are using?
1 0z needle applicator bottles. Here is my affiliates link amzn.to/41VLP2b
What type surface is the countertop?
Medex mdf is the surface. It can handle moisture and is very dense. Perfect for countertops.
Nope. No link to the commissioned piece.
In the area "Interested in a commission" the contact us is linked. Click on the contact us. I will make that more obvious on the website to help.
Beautiful!
