That car with the narrow front track got it wrong. Raindrops fall in a somewhat ideal aerodynamic shape, they are shaped by air resistance to have least resistance. The wide end is at the front, the narrow end at the end (subsonic). Also the steer in must have been terrible, like a motorbike that cant lean into a corner. If they had turned it around 180 degrees, it might have been better.

The fact that Nissan brought out a modified Skyline GT-R from the JGTC to compete with the GT1 cars and actually believed it could compete at the same level...
*_That still makes me laugh to this day and it really does smell like something Nissan would try._*

I noticed the music you used when talking about the Road Car there, and speaking of, in the Profile on 3 for the R390, it does state there was only the one, so... and, I mean, it is a Japanese game after all... But, either way, I think we do have to be grateful for its existence as gamers, I love the Road Car! And I don't entirely hate the Race Car, either! Jus a shame it seems to have disappeared from Gran Turismo the way it has... That said, the Toyota hasn't really fared much better, either... But, still, it came up on Forza Horizon 3! And I didn't have enough Credits for it, even on sale... That annoyed me no end!

The R90 project was a flop. The R390 program was a half-arsed flop. The R391 program was never going to work and flopped. The LMP1 program was shambolic.
In contrast, the American-run GT-ZX Turbo project was a fantastic success, and the Japanese RC prototypes were pretty handy too. Weird how inconsistent Nissan was with Sports Cars

but I think it was a setback that contributed, in some part, to the "Audi years"
