SUPER IMPORTANT forgot to mention, at any point during the combos you can hold alt attack input to go directly to the shield slam finisher - use this to bank a power pip as soon as your shield meter is full!
Out of all the videos I have watched this is the first one that actually made the combat look fun and engaging. I had no idea the game had combo and dodge mechanics. It looked like a basic button masher from all the other videos I have watched but this actually makes the combat look super cool.
I'm honestly in love with the combat so far, feels really solid and every weapon I've tried so far has really cool mechanics/combos that seem well thought out by designers who actually care about this kinda stuff which is a good sign for future weapon designs / future of the game in general imo
Yea true the combat is nothing crazy but enough to be engaging which is a important for a game like this. Will be cool to watch and see how this game develops. @@Zikorik
Holy Crap...I didn't really know this about Wingrave. You just changed my life with this video. Thanks for the information. I'm loving Wingrave with Sword and Board. He's super fun to play.
A few things I've discovered while playing Wingrave with sword/shield and gun. The fastest combo route for sword/shield is light, light, hold heavy. This activates his passive and gives you a weapon pip if you are full. The eagle eye shots count as finishers along with your weapon ability. Tested with Randsom Nice vid. Edit: Got to test with Tempest finally. Weapon ability doesn't count as a finisher.
Cool guide - I too really like the combat system in this game The 2h sword also has some really nice combos Heavy > Weapon Ability > Heavy > Healing strike > Heavy > Healing Strike, for example
@Zikorik Nice one! And basically the 2nd heavy swing on the 2h takes quite long, so cancelling that into the weapon ability or healing strike really speeds it up.

@@Rienli I've been messing around with the axe a bunch lately it's pretty sick - I think I favor the S&S slightly more for the speed and versatility but the 2H absolutely slaps when it connects
Honestly it seems like most Wayfinders could be solid with most weapons, I def think you could make this work. I've had a lot of success focusing on weapon damage, crit rating, and crit damage with sword & shield it really makes it rip - if ability power is important on her maybe try to prio that too
For sure I gotta craft this in game still tho - question does it have the same animations as other 2h? like the axe and swords? I am working on the axe right now
lol its been rough for sure but has been improving daily which is a good sign, I've waited through queue many many times now and am disconnected right now waiting to get back in again lol, the grace period implement soon will help with the disconnects until they can figure out how to increase capacity more while maintaining stability

So you need to have your shield meter full to get a pip?

Also small tip for melee in flora zones. Sprint, dash then melee into the mushrooms.
