Thank you for the guides! Wayfinder doesn't have many yet, especially character guides and we definitely could use more. It's really helped me learn more about the game.
Even if it's not intended, it needs to become a feature. There's so few reasons to pick sword and shield over other weapons even on Wingrave. Making this a feature but tuning the healing accordingly can be a big win for sword and shield
it's absolutely intended as it gives S/S an edge when being used. You don't have the damage raw of 2h, but you have faster access to combos and abilities. There's a few reasons to use S/S on wingrave, especially if you're playing more support focused. If damage focused, tooth and claw can half health bosses with a single 3 pip ability use.
My radiant dawn build outdps any 2H build I have ever tried. The speed and weapon ability all add up. When more difficult content comes out it will also be preferable over 2H for hard hitting bosses. I admit I discovered this video mechanic on my own and that is what pushed it further over my 2H build. You need ability power and weapon power both, don't bother with crit. You need resilience and HP.
S/S is by far better than all other weapons. The fact that you have fast dmg while still having the option to break enemies at will makes it the #1 choice. Not only that, but its by far the most fun weapon of the bunch. You can mix and match combos at wil without having to sit through a whole sequence. My wingrave build: High HP Medium resistance High weapon power Low ability power Low crit rating Low crit power High break power High phys defense High mag defense It works as followed: •Obviously you need high hp. •Resistance becomes not as important later on since monster attacks deal a significant amount of break damage regardless how much resistance you put in. •High weapon power since thats your main dmg source from wingrave. •Low ability power since wingrave abilities are mostly supportive. Investing in this would be a waste. •Low crit rating and crit power since I rather max out weapon power with s/s. You dont attack as fast as daggers to take advantage of having high crit. Not saying you can’t, just saying that I prefer having constant dmg than high burst from time to time. •High break power is a key stat for S/S. Taking advantage of breaking enemies with your heavy attacks is invaluable. With my high break power, I break adds in 1-3 heavy attacks depending of the mob. Also keep in mind that the heavy attack on s/s is fast and you can easily do 3 heavy 1 light to get the additional heal on wingrave. Overall breaking an enemy just increases your dps substantially until it becomes unbreakable again. •Lastly, high defenses across the board since you can’t kill if your sleeping on the job amr? I’m a solo player, but I’ve had no issues going through the game with this setup. I’ve even done content 800+ my level. So I’m pretty confident in this build. But remember, it’s not the end all be all. Maybe tomorrow someone makes an ability power wingrave build and it’s way better than a weapon power one. Maybe someone puts daggers on him and makes a crit build. All I’m saying is that no matter what build you have, just remember we’re all atill learning the rooes of the game. Maybe a couple of months from now we’ll know the “best build” for each class. Anyways, have a nice day everyone👋.
@@FrankEGee88 max out instinct first, then focus and lastly discipline. For the weapon, I went the exact same route, 132. As for mastery, Im using bulwark since the 40%bless stamina on blocking is by far your safest route due to wingrave not having any dash/escape, except his ult ofc.

Yep. Been using this since day one, can have Radiant Dawn active all the time too... with press the advantage mastery. Radiant Dawn and buffs party too, all the time. Don't need to focus on Attack Power with Radiant Dawn either because of it. Max pips = more Attack power than my same level 2h. Then go x / 5 / 15 in Affinity for max party buffs. That CD is overrated, I think. Btw, you can also double heal with 2h. Heavy > Heavy > Righteous Strike > Heavy > Righteous Strike (or swap either one for weapon ability)
Just keep in mind, AS uses the same kind of philosophy that DE does when it comes to stuff like this. Meaning that if something unintended is fun to the players, they'll find a way to make that unintended mechanic actually official.
@@HDHaZmY she’s also good with it. I mean they both have the same passive to help out with titans passive. But I kinda prefer wingrave simply because of the healing .
@@BennyTheDealer basically u gain momentum by a chain of combos. The more you keep up with ur momentum the more powerful titans bane ability damages. And wingraves passive is ur ability charge is 15% faster and it increases weapon power dealing even more dmg. Plus he has 20 additional stamina great for keeping momentum.
This is dope I haven’t tried this character out yet but I will grind for him after seeing this but do you think you can do a senja build I’ve been trying her out with all different weapons and she’s good sometimes but it seems like u have to put all stats into being a tank in order for her not to die and doing no damage is not fun lol
Would you suggest a Radiant Dawn or should I be working towards another SS combo? I had my eye on tooth and claw just because the "captain america" ability sounded sweet.
I've been doing this for awhile...If using weapon damage, the combo is poor damage for single target/high hp enemies, but Wingrave also doesn't do damage with ability power. So there's three uses I use this combo for. AoE damage/AoE guardbreak and party healing (only when I have high ability power). It's balanced because the highest damage combos are definitely not this and the best break combo for bosses are definitely not this. The most powerful thing I've used with Wingrave so far is shield cancelling just about everything. Removes ending lag and makes his combos 10 times better.
This mechanic is intended. They are drawbacks to it however. For example, if you go this route of keeping your passive heal up then you lose out substantially on your ability to break the enemy. Breaking the enemy is important because when their break bar is broken you do max damage with your light attacks and your abilities and that goes for other party members as well outside of Niss whom I believe automatically ignores the enemies break bar. Characters that use guns on the ignore a portion of the bar and thus they are damage is muted until that bar is gone.
I am not sure that's a valid reasoning though. You can Break the enemy just like any other way, and then use this combo after that, and even then this is actually doing a lot of break damage too, considering it's a shield attack which deals more break damage. It might have drawbacks and could be intended, but not because of break damage, and considering the Kyros video I am about to release, I am not sure it is in fact intended.
@@HDHaZmY I'm sure you'll keep testing this. You are definitely onto something here. After more testing you'll see that the pure heavy combo does significantly more break damage especially when you combine his taunt with the talent upgrade. The combo you showcase is great for your HOT upkeep but also to get your weapon skill pips more safely. I think you'll recognize this with more testing. Basically you are showing efficient HOT upkeep while there is also an efficient break combo, pip generation and expenditure combo. Wingrave is surprisingly deep.
While not as fast, I just spam heavy attacks with great sword, which while doesn't spam pulse as fast, it has WAY more break power (typhoon has breakpower as a base stat, heavy attacks deal more break damage in general), and also generates momentum extremely fast too.
i was considering getting Tooth and Claw, a little Captain America but also because a ranged attack might be nice. How is it and does it kind of work to skip combo? What would the best shield be for this?
Today I just picked up the game, as a healer in most games I play, this is a great video for me. However... I know DE very well unfortunately so, this WILL be nerfed eventually. Use this while you can everyone.
i wish the block counter gives for the punish like the daggers. the daggers is literally safer than the sword n shield plus blocking is not strong in this game cos it takes out ur stam which is a very rare resource since only 1 echo boost the max stamina. the priority of defense in this game is kite which includes dash/roll/ walk/sprint positioning and jumps since many aoe floor stuff. I recently found out dagger can even parry the floor aoe.
Just tested, either the passive has a cooldown, or the followup light-to-heavy slam doesn't count as a finisher. (not getting heal pulse or ability recharge)
Then I recommend practicing it more, I've been actively playing like this for over 24 hours on multiple characters ^^ Oh and it doesn't work on the Target dummy by the way.
@@HDHaZmY On retest on enemies, the heal pulse doesn't trigger on spam, but the recharge does seemingly. IF you interweave the skill with the slam combo, the heal pulse does trigger every time, which could still be an ICD on that scenario (cannot test recharge on spam cause using the skill every cooldown basically is interweaving).
Please help me! I hate playing Niss. I made the mistake picking the wayfinder I found the most cool. But then I was stuck with her, because they said don't chose "no" after the tutorial or you will be kicked. Her skills are so glitchy and hardly hit anything. She feels animation-locked into everything, so her purpose as a fast assassin dashing out of harms way is not happening as she gets stuck in every pebble. It's infuriating to play her and I am having a really bad time thanks to this. Getting a new wayfinder is either getting into later game grind or opening your wallett. Please, if there is an early-game build for her, which makes things better, I would really need it.
I recommend checking out my video on the Tempest Best Weapon in the game - worst case you can just build Niss towards Weapon Power and just only use the weapon until you manage to grind out another character! It will work perfectly
is skills are just for debuff to maximize your dmg. I just landed a 120K hit dmg with arctempest and crown of decay. No other char is capable of such damage

Haz, can you explain what the devs had in mind when they say "melee finisher"? I thought melee finishers meant you killed an enemy with a melee.
It means completing a Melee Combo Sequence so like Light Attack - Light Attack - Light Attack - Light attack
Wingrave and titans bane is a rlly good combo too. Good for a lot of DPS
Titan's Bane in general is really powerful yes, best with Senja I think.

I am still testing these weapons so unfortunately I can't recommend based on their results. I personally really like Grim Harvest

@@bwucewee1502 it’s strong. I recommend it. Just know the skin is bugged for some ppl and it may look like a different weapon when you equip it

Yeah I wish the Passive would also work with Eagle Eye like a lot of similar abilities say they do.
it works with ranged too, just way slower: apparently eagle eye shots also counts towards the passive.

but parry is harder to do no? damage reduction buff should be enough
you can parry floor attacks with Sword and Shield as well
