    I’ve read in other reviews that the Arya’s and hd800’s soundstage differ in that the hd800 presents instruments/sounds as precise points/dots in space, while the Arya’s presentation of the instruments/sounds is tall and grand. Is this true? If so, does this really make the Arya sound much more “massive” in sound, or is the difference minimal?

    • @chuckolatte600
      @chuckolatte600  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, actually. The HD800's soundstage is more like a massive bubble (not gimmicky, just very circular). The Arya's soundstage sounds like a very tall and wide box (the taller side standing up).

    • @mathieuleger8746
      @mathieuleger8746 3 года назад +2

      @@chuckolatte600 Interesting! Thank you very much for that description!
      Does this affect how you perceive the music? Some reviewers describe the music as sounding more “massive” or “grand” with the Arya because of this. Does this soundstage difference make a change in how engaging the music sounds, or is it more of a subtle difference?

    Hi - I have a question please and hope that you are able to help. I use a soundblaster x g6 as a dac amp for my pc and am running Dt 990 as my daily gaming / music headphones (works really well). I have now bought the hifiman ananda’s and am wondering whether the g6 is a good match with the ananda? Is the g6 a solid state amp and therefore a good choice? I really want to get the best performance out of the ananda‘s. Thanks for your help

    • @chuckolatte600
      @chuckolatte600  2 года назад

      No, the G6 might do the job in terms of volume, but a higher powered amp and cleaner DAC may benefit them more. But hey, if you need something like the G6, have at it.

    When I do EQs I start at 3dB otherwise I don't bother; I can barely hear the difference. But I wonder does that mean I would not perceive a difference in FR between these headphones?
    I decided to step up from the HD598 and get something substantially better, so I ordered the Ananda. I hope this wasn't a mistake.

    • @vangledosh
      @vangledosh 2 года назад

      How are you finding them?

    • @SilentClouds
      @SilentClouds 2 года назад +1

      @@vangledosh Well, they are better in some aspects; the base is noticeably tighter though quantity is not more. Treble is noticeably more extended but I hear a sharp peak at 12K, tibmer and midrange does not sound as natural as hd598, in that aspect the sennheizers are better. Soundstage is I hear it a bit smaller than the sennheizer. I had to use EQ with the ananda to increase base quantity, fix midrange and remove the treble spike... Most corrections are within 3 dB range so it's not so bad.
      The ananda does sound more transparent and faster, but I still can't wrap my head around the fact the ananda is 5X the price of hd598... I expected more to be honest.

      Agree - by 'hard to drive' you probably mean pump the amp dial up to get same volume. On my drop 789 I have to turn up when switching to the Arya. But if you walk around the house and plug them to everything you can - the Arya (same with LCD2) will consistently put out more near to its potential sound vs the senny. HD800 is much more pretentious in this way and forget about plug it yo laptop and cell phone and getting satisfaction. Last night I plugged them directly to my MacBook I saw the new MandalorianS2E7, Arya was pleasant and exciting the HD800 thin and distracting. Don't get more wrong Iike the HD800 just make sure you know what you are getting into.
