I had this equipment at my house for years, i used to go to the gym instead, until recently i had a meniscus tear trim , now this is my daily essential workout, helped to recover faster and am sweating much more, a huge Thank you 🌷
just did this routine after finding it last night. it's GREAT! Left me seating and breathing hard, and short enough I can do it everyday, perhaps twice a day. This is the best I've found so far. Thanks again for a wonderful routine!!!
Thank you for the video. I have an infomercial chair and find i can still do the workout with some modifications. I see a definite difference in my legs, and a small difference in my belly, any moves that will help with that?
Your Transverse abdominals are definitely deep under the belly so you may not notice the definition, but know that you are strengthening the core which helps to support the spine. Do the exercises at a pace for at least 20 minutes that keeps your heart rate up, make it flow without too much rest between exercises.
Thank you for the video Jennifer! I just today got a Malibu Pro chair for free so am watching as many videos as I can find as to creating a workout or two I can do. I am carrying about 40 extra pounds and have lots of pain and injuries so I am starting from practically nothing! I used to be very strong and athletic and I know what that feels like and I am sure that strong body is still in there somewhere. I will look at your other videos and resources and see what I can start with that won't make me too sore, or aggravate my injuries. Thank you for posting free resources. It is very generous of you to gift your time and expertise.
I just got a good condition used pilates chair! Excited to use it with this vid! I use to do you mat pilates, mostly with Mari Winsor and loved it! Have no idea how I got away from doing it! Anyway back to it, dont want to end up like my mom who has osteoporosis.
LOVE this! Haven't been on my bench in a long time. I hate the dvds that a came with it. You are my new pilates bench GURU! Can't wait to try it tomorrow morning. Thank you so much!!!
Jennifer, thank you so much for your video, it is the only helpful video I've found for my chair (wish Malibu would hire you, the videos that come with the chair are garbage). I purchased the machine because I can not walk for any amount of time (foot operation is not healing), I am old, rapidly becoming overweight, I have real problems hopping down to the floor (and getting up is not treat) no leverage with my bad toes. I imagine my condition is similar to a lot of the folks who are hypnotized into buying the chair on QVC (I purchased the unused chair from a frail elderly woman who had obviously been taken in by the infomercial)--I can't do 95% of the exercises they suggest, and yet I see the potential of the machine in the 5% I can do. I am trying to formulate a half hour workout that will get me "addicted" (habituated) to using the machine regularly before winter hits I can not hop up on top of the seat; when I put my fat foot down on the pedal it stays down (no floaty stair step action for me), and because of my weight if I lean into the machine it feels like it will fall over (balance issues become very scary after 60). At any rate a half hour very stable (I am not hopping on top) routine that works slowly around the machine with minimal tension adjustments and that slowly winds up on the floor with a bit of Pilates breathing and stretch cool down would be a godsend. I will study your video, perhaps I'll make my own fat old lady video if I can formulate a routine. Thanks, for your video
Thanks for posting. I had my Pliates Pro Chair for a little while. I was looking for different moves. Really enjoyed your video and all the helpful tips and fantastic demonstration of technique
Wonderful Video, I'm new to this, I've had aloooottt of back surgery, I like the resistance of the bar it has, I can't do all of the exercise's but I tried to alter them according to my back. I got this from a relative (used) so there was no instructions (they never used it ) looking at it, I didn't see ALL the great exercises it has. Thank you for a great thorough video :) Andrea
You make it look so easy I am a rookie haven’t used it I haven’t really figured it out I also have the resistant bands and no clue how to use them if you could please do a video on using the hand bands on bands
WoW! You are in unbelievably fantastic shape! You look wonderful! Thank you for making this video to help us use our chair in more ways than I knew I could:--) So much appreciated:-)
I loved your video! Thank you for share your light! I got recently diagnosed with prolapse and I need to go back in shape and do the right exercises for my condition. I lost a lot leg muscles after a knee injury. I live in a small studio and I think this machine can definitely help me strength my core, pelvic, legs muscles. Do you know where I can purchase an original Pilates chair machine like yours? I appreciate your time
A question I have - there is an adjustment on the bottom - to push the pedal out farther from the chair base. What type of exercises is that good for? It will result in an extend arc of the foot pedal and I've never seen anyone do an exercise with the foot bar on that setting before. I would love to know when it is best to use that setting.
I would buy a wunda chair form PilatesScandinavia or Pilates designs by Basil. More expensive but can be used as a chair in the house as per Joe Pilates original designs,
Hi Lisa, Pick and choose from the video exercises that work for you. Adjust the tension according to your ability. You may want to follow the basic video that would come with the chair. Or you can find more basic exercises at my page here: www.pilates-back-joint-exercise.com/pilates-chair.html
Great Video but I am looking for a video that shows someone using the springs and the cadillac. The person doing the bicycle on their side, on One leg at a time. My orthopedic doctor wants to see what it looks like.
Hi Wendy, Stay tuned I will do a video soon using the long springs on the cadillac. The goal with that exercise is to keep the pelvis and whole torso still, waist long, hips stacked as you move the legs freely through a full range. It's challenging with the springs as it is pulling you off balance, so it takes much core strength to keep the body (torso) still as you move the leg.
Jennifer Adolfs Jennifer, I will be seeing my surgeon, on March 5th and I was checking to see where you are on making the new video using theSpring ,on the Cadillac. He really wants to see that workout.
Mine has never exploded, I've had it in studio use for over 7 years. Could be user error. I love this chair, very versatile design. The split pedal is not necessary (only useful for a few exercises), which could save you some dough.
I love that you don’t have loud music playing. Thank you for a great video

I'm pilates chair rookie but am in love with your video. Thank you for making this available! Will keep on practicing. :)
I just got a chair off of FB marketplace and this is the 1st workout I have tried, very very good! I will definitely feel this tomorrow!
Thanks for all the comments! I love the versatility and flexibility the chair offers. A great workout in a short amount of time.

Thank you for the video, great help, can you make a video specific for lower back pain? or what exercises are the best to do on this chair? Thank you.
