      The best part of the movie is when they're at the Mexican restaurant and Monte gets his Jr. salad and his buddies pick off his olives!!! 🤣

      He said that in caddyshack as well,its a Rodney Dangerfield saying.He wasnt very young though,he was actually a late bloomer and late to showbiz but this was his peak!You never know when it could be!

    I was behind a guy like that yesterday at the betting window. He was up there asking questions instead of making his bet. It made me think of this scene.

      Way, way back in the day when my college buddies and I would go to the track we'd quote this scene whenever someone was stalling at the ticket window. And you gotta love the clerk: Ten seconds to post and he decides it's the appropriate time to explain gambling vernacular.

      most tracks should have the following betting instuctions.Have your money ready,after you make your bets , limit conversations.Also do not handicap at betting window!!!

    Their buddy in the blue jacket at the bar is actor Tom Noonan, who was Oscar-worthy as psychotic killer Francis Dolarhyde in "Manhunter", the first and least known movie in the Hannibal Lector series. It was re-made as the forgettable Red Dragon.

    I love that the jockey wasn't satisfied with throwing first place and tanked it all the way to the back. Every scene and line in this movie is classic.

    That’s Bill “showbiz” Popfinger as the driver who went “water skiing”. Still alive today, he holds the distinction of being the only trainer ever to win a race every year at Pompano Park in Florida, where this was filmed. The track being called “Hoover Downs” was an inside joke about how racetracks “vacuum “ up their patrons money.

    It actually ran about 10 seconds over on the post time. At the 15 second call it was off by about 1 second, but at "not more bets" 40 seconds had past. Just sayin'.
