- No one could make Johnny laugh quite like Rodney. The week before Easy Money hit theaters, Rodney skipped his usual stand-up set and sat right down, delivering one-liner after one-liner.
1:18 “My father, he was a workaholic. You mention work, he got drunk.”
2:56 “When my wife has sex, she screams. Especially if I walk in on her.”
5:41 “She was fat, are you kiddin'. I met her at the Macy’s parade... she was wearing ropes.”

One of THE greatest comedians to EVER walk the earth...Rodney Dangerfield.
Sir Rodney in. My books
I totally agree while crying laughing on the floor👊🏿💯
Easy, forget about it.
yes
7 mins and Johnny didn't say a word. Two genuine legends
Johhny new when to sit back and respect a guest like Rodney.
@@MrDouglind Johnny always fit his conversation to his guests. That's why he lasted 30 years as host.
Idiot, Johnny spoke much and often.
@@jamescollinson2179 exactly
The best ever. Top of the game. I was lucky to this back in the day.
nobody delivers a one liner like Rodney, what a legend
He owned it 🤣
Don Rickles 😂
@@user-jl9kw9gn3m - he did, and so was Robin Williams.
Both guys had a lot of issues behind the scenes, in their private lives, and they stil could make other people laugh. Pure pros to the end, enven considering what was going on in their private lives at some moments, and during making of some movies. Much respect here.
edit: spelling and so on...
This man embodied just letting go and having a laugh. Carefree comedy at it's best. The world needs this man more than ever now.
That's exactly why I decided to watch this video. Now I'm laughing, smiling and feeling better. Stay safe!

You're right, now go and convince today's young people 35 and under about how great comedy like this was and the world the way it used to be, see the response you get! I bet it won't be nice, because they don't care and couldn't care less, not only is it it horrible but unforgivable as well PERIOD!!!!!
Johnny was a great host, because he had great guests. He didn’t compete with them.
Jonny was a real class act.
Carson was a boring and flat host
Exactly. Johnny was guest first and regardless whether they were famous or not. No one can come close to him. I loved staying up watching him, even tho I had exams
Johnny sucked... he had great guests and the show was good... but anyone could've done what he did .... he contributed NOTHING to the shows success... it was all all the producers and guests that made the show
@@MrMuychistoso absolutely. He's a nothing person. He's not funny, he's just... There

Even as a kid, of 1955, and African American, we loved Rodney. He uses common languages every one can relate to, Classic, without profanity and vulgarity.
Today, profanity is even in video games. Disgusting.
@@razoblicavanje4231 profanity isnt a problem I will say it is overused at times
He swears like a motherfucker in his live shows. check out the 1995 mgm grand show for example. raunchy as hell
Amen my friend!
So far this year 100% of the murders in my town are black gunmen. We wish you’d all go back to your own people who captured you and sold you to the European Americans
The king of the one liners. Nobody told jokes like Rodney Dangerfield.
Depends on the size of the napkin.....
Jimmy Carr and Daniel Tosh are close but they don't have the charm.
15 years since Rodney's passing and so much of his material still holds up. He was Amazing!
Legendo Majstore. 🙏🏽
Johnny 15 years also 🙏
True, but at his passing there was very little mention of his death. I'm not sure if it was a gag of the media that Rodney Dangerfield didn't get no respect even at death, but I thought it was truly disrespectful and just low that not even Entertment Tonight didn't have a special segment of Rodney Dangerfield s career. Regardless, he is a true legend.

I saw Dangerfield live once. I laughed so hard my face hurt the next day.
Good
i saw him too but next day i had no face
😄
My face hurt too, every time I look in the mirror 🤣
Quick on jokes.
One of the reasons he's the king of comedy is the way he does his stand - up routine. He speaks as if he's speaking directly to a particular individual as opposed to a whole audience. RIP Rodney. You're sorely missed.

Yes, they're old school jokes, but the way he delivers them.... He was a king.
Don't matter if you've heard it before, All that matters is if you're laughing...
Always a good laugh...
@Gregg Sinini Yep, I agree. For me, my favorite talk show host are Carson, Conan and Letterman.
Comedy is an artform not a fashion statement...what was hilarious in the 50s is still hilarious today
Still absolute genius.
I rather watch the repeats of "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" than any of the crappy evening talk shows.
No matter what kind of day I have, once I watch a clip of Rodney, my day is better.
Absolutely
You got it! I'm grinning right now watching this. No way this happens in today's TV socialist realism BS.
Absolutely 💯%
You hit the nail on the head. And it's strange how him talking about his hard life can cheer people up.
Especially since Conan ended
Johnny Carson and Rodney Dangerfield, two legends that we would badly need today. We all need a laugh to keep our spirits up!
Late night TV at its best in those days!!
Mr. Carson was a class act and Rodney was amazing with the one liners.

We will never see another like him. His delivery and timing will never be equaled. I could hear the same joke over and over and still laugh just as hard. What a talent.

I like the way Johnny let's Rodney Dangerfield just do his thing.
You have to let Rodney ramble. The more he rambles the funnier he gets.
This, in my humble opinion, is the best Rodney on Carson show ever. He was hitting it out of the park on every joke!
You know Carson had to know his routine but still was laughing his ass off!
His line, "Suddenly I'm depressed", and keeping a straight face afterward was one of his all-time funniest moments on Johnny Carson. Ed burst out hysterically in the background!
Straight to the couch
Funny yesterday, today, and all the tomorrow's yet to come. They can't make this kind of humor anymore.
Rodney feels like a magician. His cadence, timing, and tone are all perfect. He knows that the audience knows the joke is coming and his set up to every joke is exactly where it needs to be
Love this guy funny
Spot on 👀💥🌎
"Suddenly I'm depressed" was the best off the cuff response he could have given 😂
A legendary comedian. I miss Rodney's rapid fire flow. A true classic!! 💜💜
Agreed. I'd love to see how long he go on stage uninterrupted. Hours maybe?
This man is a king of one liners.
A legend.
So much great material per second, it's hard to believe.
Dr Joey Jokes coming like a machine gun. Love how Johnny plays straight for him.

Classic - no one did it like Rodney
Not even close. No one.
San Diego, Rodney had his own style. His comedy wasn't as intellectual as men like Carlin and say Bill Hicks. Those comedians were heavily sarcastic and made fun of the government and the people for just letting the government push us around. Rodney's whole shtick was 'I Can't Get No Respect' and he was very good at it!
THIS IS AN ICON, A LEGEND AND A TALENT!!! MR. DANGERFIELD!!!
YUP!!❤
Anytime I feel disgusted with the news or how life is treating me I just hit the Rodney Dangerfield videos for a quick laugh. I try to remember a couple of his one liners. They are still funny after all these years, and they get a laugh when you use them at the right time.
That’s what I was thinking
Johnny was real pro. He allowed his guests to do their thing without constantly interrupting.
BG Meadows - So true! Hosts now a days act like they are in competition with their guests and feel threatened if the guest is funnier than them.
BG Meadows But he was having so much trouble trying not to laugh hysterically. And who could blame him. Rodney was on fire on this.
BG Meadows cant imagine Kimmel doing that
See Crispin Glover interview for actual proof
Fallon sucks
Idk why but EVERY time i watch this i fall out when he says "this girl was fat, when she wears high heels she strikes oil"😂😂😂😂
Such a masterclass punchline deliverer

She was so fat, you didn't stand next to her, you stood among her.
How can you tell that your girlfriend is getting fat ?? She fits your wife's clothes!!😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🎤🍺🍺🍺
This guy was a super funny genius!!
One of the few comedians who never laughed at his own jokes!
As well as super creative with what he wrote! Incredible talent!
But he knew how to shake it off when a joke bombed!

No one can tell these jokes like Rodney. The way he sets up the joke, delivers the punchline and his mannerism when he tells the joke is classic Rodney. That's why I can watch him tell these jokes over and over again, whenever he is on a talk show. It never gets old for me.
No one can tell those "jokes" because no one wants to appear as stupid and inbred as he was. Fact. Slept with his own mother to spawn his future "wife." Disgusting really...
Explain ? Thanks
Once Rodney gets on a roll, there's no stopping him!!

Something about the way he keeps adjusting his tie is so hilarious to to me. Like he’s pretending to be nervous, or something. It’s a fake nervous tick. And he knows exactly what he’s doing. Just adding artificially to the tension of his ongoing horror stories. It’s absolute genius.

@scottweisel3640 such a short amazing career
I wish I could go back to 1983.
saw Rodney live many years ago.. my sides hurt from laughing so much he was the best!!!
My favorite Rodney joke. "Kids today are having sex at an early age. They're getting younger and younger all the time. Now they make birth control pills shaped like Fred Flintstone".
This man had an encyclopedic memory of one-liners. Incredible.
Oh, gawd, how I miss these guys. It sucks getting old.
Rodney Dangerfield is a true Icon 👍
"My wife and I smoke only after sex. I got the same pack now since 1975. My wife is up to three packs a day." Classic shit.
I like a joke he made about his later younger Mormon wife. "I love my wife. I'm lucky she married me for my money and not for who I really am."
There's another one that I didn't hear in this video. "Last night was the first time I saw my wife in a negligee. Problem is, she was just walking in through the front door."
I know my wife has sex with other people because whenever I come home, the parakeet shrieks out “quick out the window”(paraphrased)
“I solved my drinking problem I joined AA yeah I still drink, but I do it under another name” I’m in AA and I love this joke
Every time I watch this they're the same jokes, & I still laugh. Everyone loves Rodney.
I saw them filming part of easy money. Was filmed in mariners harbor, staten island, part with van and wedding cake. Crashed into the wall at strike city bowling alley on south Ave. Our hangout
It’s sad, but he was actually serious.
His stuff never gets old, he was epic.
'Dr. Vinnie Boom-Ba'. Only Rodney could snag a laugh saying this name!
Rodney and Don Rickles were the 2 best comedians on Johnny Carson..their timing with Johnny was perfect..there will never b another late nite show like Johnny Carson.....RIP
U got that right
There will never be another Rodney Dangerfield.
I try to watch rodney when I'm sad and he always makes me smile great man and comic
There will never be anyone who makes me laugh like Rodney.😂😂😂Also the BEST comedic actors EVER.Easy Money,Caddyshack and Back to School.WOW.
Like a machine gun, one joke after the other, non-stop. Rodney, simply the best.

He was the king of the one liners! How he told the jokes so fast was shear brilliance! Easy Money is a funny movie!
On Rodney’s gravestone it says
“There goes the neighborhood”
I absolutely loved him! RIP ❤️
The King of Comedians!
Only back then could you pull off being raunchy and classy at the same time.
Class and genuine talent intertwined. Amazing.
The true King & Master of self-deprecating humor! No matter how lame a joke was, Rodney's delivery & timing were so spot on - you can't help but laugh.
True
idk man, maybe it's 'cause I'm 20 but I did a lot of not laughing.

We all recognize that great is great. Classic. Perfect, even. Two towering legends not getting in each other’s way with egos and stupid remarks. It is April, 2022 and bittersweet to watch Johnny and Rodney knowing how far we have fallen as a nation and world. We need humor and greatness to return in every facet of our lives.
Couldn't agree more
In 2004.
Let’s go Brandon
Sadly, you are right.
Oh, I tell ya
His mannerisms after telling a killer joke…….,,,just priceless
Jimmy Fallon, this is how you host a show. No fake laughs and interrupting your guest.
True that
More like no laughs and guests interrupting the audience.
EXACTLY!!....👍🏾
I agree 100 percent, but here's the deal...these talents, like Dangerfield, they don't exist anymore.
Rodney hosted this more than Carson.
That AA joke in the beginning was phenomenal such and obvious joke yet you'd never think of it brilliant love Rodney
The best to ever do it
I think Rodney loved to take risks. Isn't the rumor that Johnny Carson was a severe alcoholic? I know his real life wasn't nearly as fun and lighthearted as his show. He was a great show host but apparently his person life was a shambles. Divorces, fighting, drama, etc.
PS I Don't think Rodney would have been poking at Johnny, his host. He wouldn't mock him by making fun of alcoholics. Like many who suffer to this day, a lot of alcoholics NEVER show up to work drunk so the coworkers simply do not know that the person is getting drunk every day as soon as they get off work.
@@thewoofamily8951 ...yup, my father was a functioning alocholic.
Those 2 jokes were hilarious!! The play on words were so subtle and yet ingenious. “.....workaholic, .....mentioned work he’d start drinking#@! Alcoholics Anonymous, drink and use a different name...😂😂😂. And to be able to keep a straight face after telling them, comic legend!
No one better than Rodney Dangerfield
Always loved Rodney. He always made me laugh when I was down. He was one of the best comedians. I appreciate his work so very much. He's a rare breed. Love ya Rodney.
2020 this man was WAY ahead of his time
29 jokes in 5min 48sec...up to the point where Johnny asks “So, how are you, Rodney...”
Well done. I was thinking about that…. then I saw your comment
What's really great about Rodney is the fact you can watch a performance, like this one, come back a few years later like I did, and you'll be laughing all over again as if it was new material. I usually don't realize I've heard it before until after he completes the punch line. And while I'm laughing I realize I've heard this zinger before. He was simply great!
Rodney Dangerfield 👍 RESPECT.👍 RIP
RD was the best, I remember his joke, "My doctor told me to stay healthy I should run 5 miles a day, 7 days a week, I called him after the first week, I was 35 miles from home"!
One girl told me"Come on over theres nobody home" I went over , there was nobody home!
Might be my all-time favorite joke by Rodney! Brilliant!
Like Norm Macdonald said it's the perfect joke! The punchline is the same as the setup!
GreedAndSelfishness 😂😂😂😂
My dating life.
Henny Youngman's line was "Take my wife, please." Rodney's is "One girl told me to come on over, there's nobody home. I went over, there was nobody home." Signature lines from the masters of the one liners.

The most impressive part of this is Johnny’s ability to present Rodney’s act as an “interview”.

RAFAEL CANELA I mean, listen to Rodney’s jokes. That’d never fly today
@@krevin543 Sorry to say, you right. So sad the PC culture is ruining good rustic humor. And, damping entertainment. This man was, to me, a comedic member of the Rat Pack folks that smoked, drank, said outrageous things and didn't care to insult. And, was cool and truly funny!!
No, because when Rodney goes off you let him do his thing.
I saw him live 3 times. By the third time I was saying his lines before he did and every time I would laugh harder then the time before. What a guy!
In
He's the greatest. Watching him always makes me laugh a lot!
I was lucky enough to see Rodney Dangerfield, Bob Saget, Sam Kinison, and many other big stars in Hermosa Beach one night in the 1980s. Sam Kinison was completely nuts!
You can see Carson laughing at Rodney's polished practiced perfection. Johnny's heard all these Rodney jokes dozens of times, he isn't laughing at the content but at the beauty of the delivery. They were both comedy scientists.
The fact that Johnny is basically saying nothing, just....letting Rodney go. Brilliant. Both of 'dems
That's not true at all. While a couple of jokes may have been older, Rodney always came on the show with completely new jokes and this performance is no exception and Carson is laughing at the content. These jokes were fresh and new and part of his ongoing and ever changing stand up performances on the road.
@@fairmount1935He said it took 4 to 6 months just to prepare for these visits. he wrote everything himself, true professional.

Is "Dangerfield's" gone?
I learned about rodney from movies originally but he's so much more magical doing stand-up / improv. I feel like that's where he shines.
More talent in ten minutes than most now have in ten years.

Hahaha, I didn't even catch that one, the zingers were flying so fast!
Classic 👍👍
Rodney Dangerfield the movie back to school", one of my favorites.RIP
We will never see the likes of Rodney again. You can't replace the best ever.
I saw him on Christmas Eve approximately 30 years ago at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Vegas can be a very tough crowd for performers. He had the audience eating out of his hand. Right off he starts out, I'm doing ok now, but last week it was really rough.... and away he goes. If I recall correctly he was on for about an hour and forty five minutes. I can't even begin to guess how many jokes he told. NONE of them fell flat. The crowd was laughing their assess off at his jokes. Some of them I knew the punchline on, but it didn't matter hearing them again. EX: I told my old man, you never took me to the zoo. He said, if they want you, they'll come get you.
There will NEVER be another Rodney Dangerfield.
An hour and 45 minutes?!!! What a memory! (Either yours or his, ha ha. But I mean HIS.)
I used to work in a pet store. People kept asking how big I'd get.
You cannot say enough about how great Johnny was here.... easy to be the fool, hard to be the straight ...
All the greats are gone.thank God we have it all recorded
